You have elected as an MP to stand in the UK&NI parliament a person who said in a panel interview with Annabel Tiffin from BBC Northwest Tonight that the Manchester Arena bombing was caused by people sewing division by questioning immigration.

That statement is so outrageous I don't even know where to start.

@EasternStandard , the username was admittedly meant to be memorable.

I'm actually proud to see a woman who is intelligent and articulate leading a major party, proud to see that it's someone fom a STEM background not some cardboard cut-out public school-educated career politician who thinks he'd like to have a go at it because he might be rather good at being PM.

She didn't start of so well, I think she's been learning a lot recently and being a bit smarter. Tbh, I thought she was awful when the tories were in charge.

But I agree, nice to not see a public schoolboy toff in the seat.

Who named Britain "Great"? And was it really great? Going around the world slaughtering people and stealing their land is not great by any standards.

Who named Britain "Great"?
The Romans.

And was it really great?

Yes. "Great" refers to the size of the land mass in comparison to the other British Isles. HTH

In what way am I peddling division? Have you made one huge and incidentally incorrect assumption that I wanted Reform to win?

I think Reform are a busted flush in terms of forming a government since they took in the Tory waifs and strays.

Edited

You don't like them because they’ve taken in some Tories? So you agree with their very right wing, divisive agenda then?

I very much agree with this. Neither extreme is good, but if I were forced to choose, I'd have to take my chance with the Greens.
Not a great place for the country to be in.

Yes, same.

If you're concerned after all with the rights of women, a Farage led government would be a catastrophe. He's employed James Orr, a notorious far right anti women ideologue, who would ban all abortion even in cases of rape.

Farage is in the pocket of American religious extremists and is already talking about restricting abortion. They'll be keeping very quiet about it until they get elected.

I dont want men in women's spaces either but that's much easier dealt with.

What other British isles would those be?

A completely reasonable and evidence based response 😂😂😂. Not at all unhinged. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Various sources including Zack/David confirmed this did happen.

It's such a minor thing he has already talked about. And the name difference is just about with him having taken other family name I think. Not some svengali identity trick. But hey, if it was in DM it must be gospell, right. Coz we all know DM hasnt got an agenda or anything like that. 😂

I think most people will cry about having an MP in parliament who seeks to justify terrorism on UK soil. Do you also think terrorism on UK soil is justified?

what drugs are you on? Who has said that?

The Muslim community of Manchester completely rejected him. They refused him an islamic burial.

You're stirring hate. You should be ashamed. Stop it.

I feel quite nostalgic for the old Green Party, of organic farming, anti whaling, bicycles, nuclear disarmament, anti pollution and localism. The current incarnation is a dangerous mix of Marxism and Islamism. I can't believe any grown up adult would vote for them.

It's "great" meaning "large" or "immense," not "excellent."

Great Britain is the big Britain, as opposed to Brittany, or little Britain

Me too. I quite liked the old version of the greens.

‘I saw it in a Tiktok snippet’, give me strength. The politically incompetent now soak up highly edited reels that deliberately seek to mislead and misrepresent the context. Then parrot them back to support their own views of bigotry and racism.

Please look at the links others have posted in this thread about what this new MP said about the Manchester Bomber - it’s not a comment on the Muslim community in Manchester it’s a comment on the MP.

I think they're good guys coming from the right place morally.

I do think they are offering over-simplistic solutions to complex problems. I think a lot of their policies could be economically unworkable, either per se, or because the markets would reject them.

I don't think this is a problem as long as they remain a party of protest, pulling the discourse back to a more civilised and decent place. I would feel uneasy if it looked like they were anywhere near forming a government.

They're still much better than Reform, however, who are clueless racist idiots funded by Russia.

Agreed. They are useful for voting balance in parliament. I agree some ideas are probably a bit unworkable. But how horrible we live in a world where banks dictate to the ppl and that they'll just throw a hissy fit if a govt comes up with financial ideas they dont like. I wouldnt mind if their hissy fits were motivated by real concern for stability in the markets, but it's really just concern that they wont be able to get their grubby hands on bonuses and their obscene squirrelled profits.

I've watched it. I've re-posted it myself. She's doesn't say what you're (shitstirringly) making out.

OK, you sound sincere, and I accept it as a genuine mistake on your part.
You might want to change the capital 'E' if you don't want to appear that way.

I can't change it, but I can change username when not on this thread.

I think that MrsB is lacking the 'populist' factor that people want in a leader.
Mrs May didn't have it and neither does Sir K S. Gordon Brown didn't have it.
All of them are decent, intelligent, trustworthy people.

Many people will vote for a person who they'd 'like to have a pint with'.
I despair.
