Unbelievable (but not unexpected).

I think LC could have done with better legal advice and gone to trial.

Why ? Her application for appeal rejected that explicitly.

My reading of the LC saga is when she was arrested she made the fatal mistake a lot of the gobbier posters here would and sung like a canary. From that point there was never any walking it back (I wonder how many people here understand the police caution).

Conversely Ricky Jones did not sound off to the police and so was able to marshal a defence which clearly worked.

Having grown up knowing a lot of police officers, I know they are very skilled at engaging with suspects and appearing empathetic. I suspect that when they approached LC she thought they were "sound" and blabbed away.

The above is a lot of supposition. However it then explains the subsequent developments in a fairly consistent manner. I am applying a blend of Hanlons and Occams razor, as always.

She said she didn't care if people set fire to the hotels.

She said to deport the government and politicians alongside asylum seekers.

All the people who took part in the riots were given sentences that also acted as a deterrent. There were riots raging where people were made to feel very unsafe and the police were being attacked. People chose to take part in racist riots and were prosecuted. I think taking part in a racist riot is disgusting.

You're comparing someone throwing milkshake to taking part in a racist riot. Some of these arguments beggar belief.

Edited

Who says he was rioting? Are you saying all the protesters were rioting? He was standing with a placard shouting abuse at police. That's not my definition of rioting.

It is you who has twisted what she said.

She pleaded guilty to inciting racial hatred and edgangering life.

He had joined a racist riot.

Then she said that she knew what it feels like to lose a child.

And that if the remarks she mskes are considered racist - as all concerns about migration are branded - then so be it, since she stands by her political opinions.

Yes, you've posted it. And then you keep saying that she called for people to kill asylum seekers and mps - which is absolutely not what the quote says.

Setting light to occupied buildings is a "political opinion"?

strawberrybubblegum · 16/08/2025 14:21

No, wanting to deport asylum seekers is a political opinion

Who knew that wanting asylum seekers murdered were now just Political opinions...

One can be against x channel migration & want deportations without calling for people to be killed.

Had she stuck to that, she wouldn't have been jailed.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 16/08/2025 14:18

He had joined a racist riot.

Drifting OT, but when P J O'Rourke was looking at SCOTUS, he followed a case about flag burning and freedom of speech. One of the aspects SCOTUS had to consider was whether congress had "acted narrowly".

This had the perfect line "So you couldn't be arrested for having a smug look near a burning flag".

Just for a bit of context about UK public order laws and their reach.

remember someone was arrested for having a "Plasticine Action" T-Shirt last week. Presumably because the police "knew what he was really thinking".

MaturingCheeseball · 16/08/2025 14:25

I note that this man was a client of Garden Court Chambers - notorious for choosing to defend “causes” eg deportation of criminals.

If this gentleman was this blameless individual and obviously, as some pps are claiming, utterly innocent, then why bring in this particular hard-hitting law firm ?

You're deflecting and God knows why you're stubbornly defending some racist. Connelly called for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire - that's not a legitimate "political opinion" and neither is calling for violence towards MPs.

You are not a fan of the right to a fair trial ?

And does it apply to say Ukraine, women and children?

The "Guy Fawkes defence", I believe it's called.

Are you suggesting he is guilty ? I hope your insurance covers libel actions ...

The "Guy Fawkes defence", I believe it's called.

I sprinkled the gun powder most light heartedly m'lord. Tis just an opinion, no need to take it so serious.

strawberrybubblegum · 16/08/2025 14:39

OK, let's go through it line by line - since you can't seem to resist overlaying your own political views.

Mass deportation now.
legitimate political opinion, even if you disagree with it

Set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care.
You do have to read the whole sentence. "for all I care" changes the meaning to indicate apathy, not command

While you’re at it, take the treacherous government and politicians with them.
"take [the government] with [the asylum seekers]. The word "take" means that she's referring back to her comment on deportations asylum seekers. Deporting MPs isn't a political option - which I'm sure she knows, so it seems like hyperbole to me - but it isn't inciting violence against them.

I feel physically sick knowing what these families will now have to endure.
She's lost a child. She knows how awful it is. She feels sick knowing what the families of those 3 little girls are going through.

If that makes me racist, so be it.
Note the word 'If' . She isn't saying that she's racist. She's saying that she doesn't care if people brand her as racist. This is in the context of current politics and public discourse, where any criticism of immigration policy or talk of the negative impact on society of high immigration is dismissed as racism by the Left, in order to silence those opinions.

Is that you Lucy? You should have thought of all this guff before pleading guilty.

None of the UK parties have it as policy.

Trump does, and has implemented it to a degree.

You may not agree with it, but it's a political opinion, which it is not illegal to hold.

Nope, I'm your English teacher. Your compression still needs some work.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” - Voltaire.

It's funny how it's the so-called liberal left who are always so quick to remove the right of others to hold any opinion they disagree with (eg the poster above who suggesting removing the vote from anyone she didn't deem to hold acceptable opinions clever enough)
