HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/07/2024 23:27

I have not voted
Reform and live in a safe tory seat But I voted
Lib dem tactical vote

I said ages Ago on here the reform would do really well and was shouted down.

Same as brexit, no one will admit voting for reform but
They still do it in droves it seems.

I'm Willing to bet they
Might win an election in four years at this rate!!

Scary

You and your mission to use every racial slur you can are quite transparent.

I transparently am tired of the racist shit that gets pushed on people who are not white by those who think they are more enlightened and can tell them how they should vote and what they can think.

TempestTost · 05/07/2024 02:35

If you are analyzing the voting patterns you rather do need to look at the % of the vote.

Labour can gain many more seats with a split vote, without necessarily gaining many more votes.

This is basic stuff political parties want to know. Who voted for them, wo didn't, and why.

Edited

It would appear that the Labour party strategists have played a blinder in securing the biggest swings in the seats where they needed the biggest swings.

The swing in Telford was the biggest ever from Con to Lab, I say was, because that is old news now as there at least 2 seats declared since that have had biggest swings.

Reform 👏💪

Yes!!! I also voted reform👏

TempestTost · 05/07/2024 02:39

Those do seem to be the places they concentrated on most, which makes sense.

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 02:42

sashh · 05/07/2024 02:28

I'm watching BBC News.

They have a graph showing %gains and losses, they have a % for reform.

How does that work?

The share of the overall vote one?

Neurodiversitydoctor · 05/07/2024 02:44

But why is Farage's wife in frozen costume ?

babyproblems · 05/07/2024 02:45

SkyeB86 · 04/07/2024 23:29

Farage tries and tries, never gets far. I wouldn't worry, he's unlikely to improve with time.

dont assume this AT ALL. We live in France- let Le Pen be a warning to you..

Infact a problem with the demise of the Toroes is that once we have burnt through labour in a few years time, what centre options will you have left in the UK when the time comes to vote?? This vacuum of the centre means after that is over you will be left with extremes to choose from. That is what has happened here. A shocking truth that I will share with you and hope you don’t forget is that we see here in the latest election is that people are more afraid of the left than they are of the right.

I am v v happy for a Labour victory though and think starmer is a very measured man!

@nomoretoriesforme and why is that good news? What are their policies?

You can find what they stand for on their website. Good news because the political landscape is changing, finally

Reform are effectively the renamed Brexit Party, so any % gains are compared to their results last time.

BabyFedUp445 · 05/07/2024 02:51

My rich retired FIL voted for both Brexit and Reform. He didn't go to uni, had a job that isn't stressful or long hours, nowadays is extremely poorly paid, but he bought a house at 22 and retired on an absolutely enormous pension at 55.

Instead of voting with some thought for his own kids and grandchildren's future, given how privileged he is, he voted Reform because he doesn't want higher taxes and wants immigrants to leave. Selfish and racist. Those are the Reform voters.

As an immigrant myself and mother of his grandchild, I have no words. Neither does DP. We just never bring up the topic of politics. I'm probably the only immigrant he's ever even had a conversation with but I guess my kind are just scum. I make 4 times my English DP's salary, pay a ton of taxes but somehow my lot is lazy and cheat the system...sure.

BBKP · 05/07/2024 02:56

Reform have only won one seat. You start this by saying you haven't voted… then you say you have voted?

I think the way it’s written is a bit confusing. I read the same as you at first but re read it and believe the OP is saying that they didn’t vote reform and live in a Tory stronghold area but they voted Lib Dem themselves.

sashh · 05/07/2024 03:05

@LiterallyOnFire I thought that but there are up and down arrows.

@Myneighboursnorlax That makes sense.

I thought (assumed?) they were doing it compared to zero but I've literally lost my specs so it's all primary blotches until I find them. Grin

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 03:08

Why is the returning office for Welwyn announcing the result in Edwardian dress? That's some hat.

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 03:09

Well that's GrantShapps gone. Didn't I see a Shapps username?

TheShellBeach · 05/07/2024 03:12

Ha! First major Tory out.
Goodbye Shapps.

People saying "ignore the reform voters at your peril" - what are we supposed to do about them exactly?

The only person I know who was planning to vote reform is in his 70s and massively racist. There's nothing I could say to persuade him to vote otherwise and I really don't know how to talk to him about anything political.

I'm interested to see the age demographic of reform voters. I wonder if they are mostly people over 60s. I hope the younger generation are more tolerant.

Well i work with mostly younger people in their 20's and at work today they were all saying they voted reform as did the big boss who i would have pegged as a typical conservative voter tbh!

Some of the returning officers have been wearing fabulous outfits with very impressive hats. I'm wondering if they are also the mayor or something.

sashh · 05/07/2024 03:30

Looks like farage is in

Must be. Some very glamorous mayors out there.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 05/07/2024 03:33

Well that was chilling ...build a mass movement...coming for labour voters.
