He’s playing the long game.
He knows it’s too soon
Come 2024 …

Hasta la vista, baby.

BreadInCaptivity · 23/10/2022 21:25

The interesting question now is how this impacts Penny.

Will she get past the magic number now?

vera99 · 23/10/2022 21:26

"I confirm I have achieved the number of backers to stand as leader, therefore I've decided to drop out of the running"

Dodie66 · 23/10/2022 21:25

He had 102 backers but pulled out because the party would be divided and not a good government, he’s,put out a statement

He says.

But nobody believes him though, right?

TizerorFizz · 23/10/2022 21:34

@vera99 Other ministers resigned. Johnson is a liar. He riled over chaos. He doesn’t think for himself. He lets others do the work. He did as mayor. He’s a figurehead. I think he stabbed himself!

His statement reads like comedy gold - I’m the best person for the job, I’ve got loads of supporters, I could definitely win if I wanted to. But I’m not going run, but I know I’d win it anyway so yah boo sucks to the lot of you!

This 😂

vera99 · 23/10/2022 21:37

Right down to work - where do we start?

Richest PM in British political history
Indian citizen nom-dom tax dodging wife whose family supports Russia
No working-class friends
Swimming pool and tennis country mansion and 4 other international properties
Covid fraud
Eat out to help spread the virus
US green card parachute
Goldman Sachs banker
Boris backstabber
Tory
Doesn't know how to use a debit card at a petrol station

Right so anyone who is successful automatically rules themselves out? Now what about your champagne socialists rolling in loot and pretending to be in with the working class? 😀

Well as he is a proven liar who's lied about everything else so far, why would you believe him?

There's no way he'd have thrown the towel in if he'd got the numbers. Nor would he have been trying to do a deal with Sunak or leaning on Penny to pull out.

Vile horrible man.

Hahahahahaaa if he’d had 102 backers he wouldn’t have needed to beg Penny to give him hers.

Not used to being turned down by a woman, the game was up.

The bit of all this is that he cut short his holiday so the country could tell him to fuck off loser to his face.

HRTQueen · 23/10/2022 21:42

good we are in enough of a mess Sunak is the better choice

he can plan for 2024 🙄

vera99 · 23/10/2022 21:43

First time Johnson has ever pulled out but at least he can go back to holiday now. Crap books to be written and crap paintings to be painted at some rich mate's villa whilst counting the spondulicks.

Basic question how can he do 2024? Do you mean the party will just swap them over or something else

vera99 · 23/10/2022 21:45

To the Blob people - we won!

Yes I was just thinking that. Bet he is pig sick that he not only cut his holiday short, but he flew back slumming it with the plebs in economy class. Grin

I raise my twisted Waterford crystal flute charged with Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut NV and doff my charity shop flat cap whilst lovingly gazing at my Kommisar Jeremy poster while singing the International. 😁

Very Trump!

Anniefrenchfry · 24/10/2022 03:16

So yeah, he isn’t standing, and now we have the little billionaire prince to lead us plebs. Well at least he has to be better than truss. Who apparently spent the weekend partying at chequers..

she also apparently told her staff she as relieved it was over but at least “she got to be pm “ … you couldn’t make it up .

MariEllie · 24/10/2022 06:54

I take it you’ve never read Johnson’s books or you wouldn’t call them crap.

TizerorFizz · 24/10/2022 08:17

@MariEllie
I had the misfortune to read some of his newspaper articles though. The one about letterboxes comes to mind. How easily we forget how reprehensible he is.

TizerorFizz · 24/10/2022 08:19

Also Johnson’s statement is destabilizing. It’s not generous. It’s all about him. It’s not supporting the party, it’s supporting him. He’s lied about his backers. Most people think he didn’t have 102. His behaviour is, as usual, atrocious.

SuperCamp · 24/10/2022 08:29

I agree.

And tbh if it is true that the parliamentary Tory party includes 102 people who thought backing an ousted candidate, facing a serious investigation, was in any way a good idea, then it shows the tories even less fit to govern.

We are talking about his abilities as a writer not his opinions. In any case I don’t see why women should be oppressed like that. They are burning them in Iran and would seem to agree with him.

There are not 102 people who were backing him or else he would be standing. It was an entire fiction.

TizerorFizz · 24/10/2022 08:33

It’s interesting his declared supporters were around 58. He and his supporters were hustling hard for more. Sadly the electorate is not discerning but Labour have some pretty poor MPs too! Chris Mathewson for example. The wrong people are selected by both parties!
