It seems that it is nearly only the 172 and their supporters who don't think the media is biased against Corbyn.

Oddly enough myself and mil were discussing this subject over dinner and were getting irate about all the 'loony left' bilge in the tabloids.

That is all they have got. They are going to lose because the people no longer trust them and their spin and lies. The 172 are probably out of tactics now, they have nothing left, the people have abandoned them and lost faith in them.

LineyReborn, I think it is going to be great for politics and democracy because Corbyn and the Corbynistas have shaken up the entire stitched-up Establishment Tory/Tory-lite/Red Tory system. The Tory-liters are now out of favour and are unlikely to be able to wield power for the Establishment again for a very long time. People don't want their solutions and don't trust them any more.

What we are seeing is a public rebellion and demand for real democracy with real differentiation of policies and new thinking, new faces and no more Tory-lite. Brexit was a repudiation of the Establishment teams and so is UKIP and so is Corbyn. Soon we will have to be granted PR voting because people have lost faith in being able to have their voices heard.

The phenomenal increase in Labour membership is a sign that people are energised and enthusiastic and want to take the Labour party back off the Establishment.

No one knows where it will end, but it is a healthy engagement by ordinary people in the political process and it is a reduction in power of the Establishment teams.

The people aren't fooled anymore.
When you are accused of wearing a tin hat, but you can see it as plain as day, this is progress.

What is bad for democracy is the contempt of Labour members shown by some of these Labour MPs.

I have great repsect for Emily Thornberry, she seems to be one of the only old guard Labour MPs to have stuck loyally by Corbyn and accepted the will of Labour members.

The public (even non-Labour supporters) think the media is biased against Corbyn, the media are losing credibility as are the 172, the more ridiculous their anti Corbyn stance becomes in the face of huge support from Labour members.

Just as most of the country think the media is biased against Corbyn, I think that most of the country wants Corbyn to beat the 172 (even if they don't support Corbyn), purely so that all of the people can get a real democracy back again where the MPs have to listen to their members and even the public too (unlike the 172's Owen Smith who wants to oppose Brexit if he can).

I totally agree and And it is worrying. I'm not a big fan of Corbyn, I voted for him to become leader and have been disappointed by him since. I wanted him to shake things up but he hasn't done or said anything other than rally the far left troops which I'm not convinced is a good thing

However, saying all of that, the media are sooo worried that an anti establishment left winger gains any credence it makes me wonder what they are so scared of. It has my mind in a spin.

Still, the thought of a Tory Gov for the next ten years terrifies me. There's no public appetite for socialism so it's all a bit pointless.

I agree that there is bias against Corbyn and pretty much anyone in the Labour party - always has been, except for the brief Blair/Murdoch love in.

I still don't like Corbyn though and that's partially down to the "Corbynistas" and "momentum" (but not solely). Family and friends who fall into those camps have confirmed the media bias as being correct tbh but I'm more than sure there are sane level headed supporters out there

Membership in my ward has gone up from approx 50 to 350 in the last year due to the Corbyn effect - not a single person has turned up to any ward or constituency events so maybe not so energised after all (I know 2 of them personally, they have zero interest in the Labour Party, just Corbyn). Obviously I'm not saying they are all disinterested, and tbf not many of the original 50 turn up to much (myself included!) but I do know that the ward secretary and a regular attendee have personally been to each new members house to drop off handwritten invitations and make face to face introductions where possible to welcome them into the party. Maybe they have frightened them all off

In the short term (3-4 years), it creates a situation in which a government with a very small majority face no real opposition in Parliament.

In the medium term (4-9 years) it creates a situation in which a conservative government will have a significantly increased majority and the opposition will be formed by inexperienced and unprepared politicians.

Neither are healthy for democracy and I say that a Conservative.

Yes the tabloids are bias against Corbyn that is the usual stance against a Labour leader. He works against the media to. Blair worked with the media, went more to the centre and won three consecutive elections

Membership did nothing to help Labour in the local elections (worse results for an opposition party in over 25 years) this has been the only true test he has had to see how popular the Labour Party is with the electorate since being a leader but it will keep his position safe

Give him another year two maximum and people will get bored of the spin of anti establishment, the establishment trying to undermine him, the man of principle and the constant attending of rallies and giving speeches filled with crowd pleasing statements and little work on how to get labour back into power with workable policies that is backed up with plans other than a rise in taxes

I am hoping sooner rather than later his support dwindles then Labour can get a chance to get a Leader who might just get a chance at being PM though I think that is unlikely now given the time frame but they could gain a stronger opposition to the Tories after 2020 GE as Corbyn won't

Whoever Corbyn goes up against now in the leadership he will win so no point in putting up a really good candidate

Would love to see Emily Thornberry head to head against May... Thornberry is a real potential leader and pm, however much goodwill there is towards Jeremy he just doesn't punch the buttons .

There was a thread the other day saying that Corbyn was right to use that photo of him sitting in a train floor because he was making a point of principle. So it's ok to lie in the most obvious and stupid way, because you're making a point? . Quite apart from the deliberate attempt at deception, it shows a shocking lack of judgement to have tried it on in circumstances when the truth could so easily be discovered. Hardly leadership material.

What enthusiasm and the cat said. I am a labour voter but no way am I voting for Corbyn. From first hand accounts of him he's not inclusive at all, quite the opposite.

I can't see Thornberry has anything going for her beyond an authoritative speaking voice; listen to the content and she is uninspiring, occasionally veering into sneery.
