What happens if Trump wins?

I know the comments Trump has made about blocking Muslims from the USA, and building a wall between the states and Mexico. But what will the world look like if he becomes president? People seem to be afraid of his success and suggest we 'should push the button now' or that he will be assassinated. Surely he comments are to stir up media interest?

'The U.K. polls are less sophisticated'

A lot of the US polls in the Republican primaries underestimated Trump's support because they were still using phne or fac-to-face rather than online and voters often don't tell polsters the truth that they are voting for Trump for fear of disapproval, just like shy Tories or shy Kippers.

'People that think they might lose start bleating about a fix in advance.'

No, it is a "Crooked Hillary" strategy aimed at getting that message across and enticing Bernie voters who are angry at the DNC plots against Bernie and who already think that Hillary is crooked. As Scott Adams, Dilbert's creator, says, Trump will win a landslide because of his hypnotic strategy of communicating direct and powerful messages that cut across the media spin and enforce what many people truly think already.

'The voters lost to the electoral roll are unlikely to be Trump voters. '

They were Bernie voters in New York etc, and about 20% of Bernie voters say they will vote for Trump and lots of Bernie voters say theu will not vote for Hillary. Trump also intends to win millions of votes from people who have not voted for years, if ever, just as Brexit won those voters who were immune to Cameron and the team's Establishment spin, fearmongering and dire warnings over Brexit.

'Good on Hillary if she is avoiding Fox. Fox is not a news channel. '

It has the highest viewing figures of any news channel and as we have seen some Republican politicians and stooges will vote for Hillary rather than Trump already. Trump goes on all the left wing media and comedy shows because he has no fear.

'Trump has an enormous amount to hide. Where are his tax returns?'

Yes, but this is minor stuff, nothing sticks on Trump, because Trump fans like him. They know he is a bit like Del Boy, but they liked Del Boy and they like Trump. They have already discounted that Trump is a bullshitter, makes mistakes and cuts corners. They don't care because they know he will sort the Establishment out.

Lweji · 03/08/2016 00:34

What was that moniker? Lyin' Ted?

What happens if Trump wins?

He's like that lovable rogue uncle, who lives off relatives and cons most people.
You may have a great time complaining about the establishment with him, about your straight parents with him, and going out on a bender.
But you really won't want to go to business with him or lend him money, let alone put your livelihood (your country) in his hands.

claig · 03/08/2016 00:41

'No idea what the difference between a bullshitter and a liar is'

Fascinating article on it, based on a famous philosopher's, Harry Frankfurt, study of bullshit. The philosopher says that bullshit is even more dangerous than lying because a liar knows they are lying while a bullshitter doesn't care about the truth and doesn't even realise that they are bullshitting in many cases.

This is the article in the Etablishment Republican magazine, New Republic, where all the great and the good Republican academics were against Trump and devoted an entire issue of their Establishment magazine to Trump calling it "Against Trump". Trump, as usual, laughed it off, as did the people, by saying that the New Republic is a failing magazine, are they still going? and no one reads it

"Donald Trump Is Not a Liar

He's something worse: a bullshit artist."

Read again what you have just written and come back and tell us why you think Trump is the best for the US.

JudyCoolibar · 03/08/2016 00:50

"Trump promises 'major speech' about the Clintons as he closes out GOP primaries

That was two months ago, and we were told that the bombshell was imminent. We're still waiting.

claig · 03/08/2016 00:52

'hat was two months ago, and we were told that the bombshell was imminent. We're still waiting.'

Trump said it would be Monday and then over that weekend Orlando happened and that meant that it was not the time to tell it all. If he wants to win, he will tell it all when the time is right.

Threesoundslikealot · 03/08/2016 00:53

A lot of the US polls in the Republican primaries underestimated Trump's support because they were still using phne or fac-to-face rather than online and voters often don't tell polsters the truth that they are voting for Trump for fear of disapproval, just like shy Tories or shy Kippers.

Nope. No proof of this at all. Trump underperformed compared to polls in more primaries than he overperformed, and shy Trump supporters don't seem to be a thing.

fivethirtyeight.com/features/trump-supporters-probably-arent-lying-to-pollsters/

The biggest losses to the electoral roll under voting reforms are minority voters, who are far less likely to vote Trump. His main support is white male voters,

And a bullshitter doesn't even know they are lying? That's a man you want to be President of the United States? Someone who can't tell the difference between truth and a lie? Seriously? I mean, seriously?

claig · 03/08/2016 00:56

'Read again what you have just written and come back and tell us why you think Trump is the best for the US.'

I have already told you. He is going to sort the Establishment out, end Davos and all the reast's dreams and schemes, expose all their lies and end them all, tear up their free tarde deals, bring jobs back to America, end the pointless wars, smash Isis within weeks, and start populist revolutions that bring common sense back to the entire world as the teams are removed from office in populist election victories.

Threesoundslikealot · 03/08/2016 00:57

If there's a revelation to be made, then he's had plenty of time to make it since Orlando, which was two months and a convention ago. Since then he's insulted a broad range of people, invited the Russians to hack his opponent, and called Hillary the devil, but that definitive truthy speech hasn't yet popped out.

Threesoundslikealot · 03/08/2016 00:57

You sound like a satire, Claig. Are you?

claig · 03/08/2016 01:01

"Commentary: Are polls underestimating Trump's support?
...
And when we look at Trump's poll numbers versus his actual results in the past few contests, one could make the case that the polls are underestimating his support.

In New York, Trump's RealClearPolitics polling average going into the Republican primary was 53 percent. He eventually won 60 percent of the vote. A week later, he beat his polling average in Pennsylvania by 10 points, his average in Rhode Island by 11 points, his average in Connecticut by 5 points, and his average in Maryland by 9 points. In Indiana on Tuesday, he again beat his average, this time by 11 points.

This isn't unheard of in politics far from it, in fact and may just show undecided voters breaking for Trump at the last minute. At some point the "ceiling" of 35 percent or so that pundits thought would doom had simply fallen apart, and Trump was just reaping the rewards.

But let us for a moment consider a different theory: what if some people just don't like admitting that they support Trump, but then go and pull the lever for him in the privacy of a voting booth?

It's no secret that, in much of the country, confessing that you're a Trump supporter can be a risky proposition. Even the groups backing him admit as much: "Sure, I get some grief when I say I'm voting for Donald Trump," says the star of one pro-Trump super PAC ad. He is, after all, the most divisive presidential candidate in modern times"

www.cbsnews.com/news/commentary-are-polls-underestimating-trumps-support/

'The biggest losses to the electoral roll under voting reforms are minority voters, who are far less likely to vote Trump.'

Let's wait and see, don't believe the mainstream media, just like in Brexit, Cameron and the team failed.

claig · 03/08/2016 01:02

'but that definitive truthy speech hasn't yet popped out.'

Be patient. If there is one thing we have learned about Trump, it is that he knows what he is doing.

Lweji · 03/08/2016 01:08

Yes, and you also said he's a bullshitter. Which is worse than being a liar.
Do you believe any of what you just wrote? Really? From the lying/bullshitter?
How do you reconcile that in your head? Really curious.

Lweji · 03/08/2016 01:09

If there is one thing we have learned about Trump, it is that he knows what he is doing.

Are you kidding? He hardly knows what he's saying, let alone doing...

claig · 03/08/2016 01:11

'From the lying/bullshitter?
How do you reconcile that in your head? Really curious.'

I don't care and nor do Trump voters because we all know he will sort the Esatblishment out, remove the teams of losers and restore common sense, just like Brexit has already done.

If trump wins .... The clintons are off to jail

claig · 03/08/2016 01:24

'If trump wins .... The clintons are off to jail'

And a whole lot more people too, probably. That is why the Republican elite would prefer Trump to lose, because some of them may be going too.

Threesoundslikealot · 03/08/2016 01:25

Really? Why?

JudyCoolibar · 03/08/2016 01:26

Trump said it would be Monday and then over that weekend Orlando happened and that meant that it was not the time to tell it all. If he wants to win, he will tell it all when the time is right.

Nonsense. Orlando hasn't stopped him coming out with all sorts of offensive bullshit, not least that charmless effort with the Muslim soldier. It it was anything near as earthshaking and important as he claimed, he would have produced it. The truth is that he never had anything.

How does anyone "now he will sort the Esatblishment out, remove the teams of losers and restore common sense"? Has he ever said how he would actually achieve all that he claims he will do? You can't just go round claiming that wonders will happen just because someone shouts loudly that he's going to make them happen.

newshoes68 · 03/08/2016 01:31

Clintons are the American maffia - 47 friends and colleagues dead or committed suicide.
The list is endless .... Hilary is evil - was reading today about a legal case she was forced to work on , a few years back , before she was Mrs Clinton , where a 12 yr old got raoed . The court transcript from Hilary is shocking !!

Threesoundslikealot · 03/08/2016 01:34

Selective quoting of your own link on polls, Claig. The article points out, just like Nate Silver does, that Trump underperformed in other primaries.

So Trump is, by your own claims, unable to tell truth from lies. You fail to address the many other flaws he has, in favour of endless repetition of some meaningless mantra. You pray in aid the restoration of common sense like Brexit, at a time when the UK government is clearly at a total loss to know how to proceed and the 'Leavers' are in disarray, and this is meant to be the Trump model?

You post selective quotes from articles that fail to substantiate the points you make, and rely heavily on discredited news sources that you seem to place complete faith in.

If you are a representative Trump voter (spiritually, as obviously you can't vote for him) then it explains a lot.

claig · 03/08/2016 01:37

Judy, that is why people vote for Trump, they believe he will sort them all out, all the teams of whizzkids, the whole lot, and all the crooks who pay for them.

And it is not just the people who believe that, it is also Davos and the entire world's political class which is why they are so terrified.

"Trump terrifies world leaders
...
“They’re scared and they’re trying to understand how real this is,” said one American official in touch with foreign leaders. “They all ask. They follow our politics with excruciating detail. They ask: ‘What is this Trump phenomenon? Can he really win?
...
Now, world leaders cop to being afraid of a Trump presidency, and they’re making preparations: scrambling to get deals done with the Obama administration while they still have the chance.

Leaders, members of their governments, even their aides are so spooked that they don’t want to say anything, and many privately admit that it’s because they think he’ll win, and a quote now could mean a vengeful President Trump going after them personally next year. "

www.politico.com/story/2016/04/trump-terrifies-world-leaders-222233

They have never come across someone like Trump. It's the end of all their dreams, the end of all their schemes.
