Fed up of the cuts? Fed up of the mislead bigotry? This is your sanctuary. Unwind. Vent. Pop over to the frothers thread if you feel like getting organised and doing some proactive stuff or just chill out with a cup of builders tea in a polystyrene cup.

Welcome.

This thread is about love.

OpinionatedMum · 24/01/2012 12:21

If you are in social housing you won't GET 2k to live off. Not everyone gets 26k. The cap includes housing benefit which varies according to the cost of housing around the country. People in areas with cheap rents never got any where near 26k in the first place.

The cap is an upper limit not an amount that everyone gets.

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/01/2012 12:22

Spike - admit it, you're wavering...

CardyMow · 24/01/2012 12:23

Spike. My rent is CURRENTLY £522pcm. It will be going up in April 2012 to £622pcm, and again in April 2013 to £722pcm. That is a rise of £200 in just over a year from now. And that is because, rather than cap PRIVATE RENTS to an affordable level, this government has decided to raise SOCIAL HOUSING RENTS to be 80% of the cost of their LOCAL housing market.

err I mean 'the love'

"I still think"

Of course you do. You're meant to.

Look, the governemnt has called it this so that it touches a nerve with ordianry hard working people. They have meetings about this sort of thing, how do we package it up, conversations.

Someone very clever has worked out a twisted way to present it as 26k per year. And look, it's working.

The REALITY is very very different. Read up on it properly and faint with amazement.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2012 12:29

I also have a brand for the lefties with 'I wouldn't let it lie'on it

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 24/01/2012 12:30

Can I come join you? There are some morons out there, and I could use a nice warm brazier and hot Brew

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 24/01/2012 12:33

I think I heard that this cap will save the treasury £210m - big fucking whoop

They lost in HoL anyway didn't they?

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/01/2012 12:34

Fanjo, I think you mean "I wouldn't believe the lies" Grin

KnottyLocks · 24/01/2012 12:34

The Princess Bride...I love that film

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2012 12:35

Yes

TeWihara · 24/01/2012 12:37

The gov lost on child benefit,

not on carers, kinship carers, recently unemployed or at risk of homelessness. All of which are still included.

Anyway, this is not for the brazier!

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 24/01/2012 12:38

This is still a political thread - just not somewhere we fight.

So it's fine for you to tell me - and for us to discuss what the HoL decided.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2012 12:39

Was about to brand you until that last line TeWihara :)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2012 12:42

Have to go to work anyway (for the man)

KnottyLocks · 24/01/2012 12:43

Shirl, although the Lords voted against some proposals, Clegg and others have said that they will seek to overturn this when the bill returns to the commons.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 24/01/2012 12:49

oh knotty.

I haven't been able to go near the Frothers for a little while, too angry and not in a constructive way.

I am, honestly, so close to saying "OK. OK, they're going to do it anyway - just, fine."

They won't stop here, and eventually all those who are supporting the coalition will fall on their own swords, because they WILL fuck us all - look at the HOWL of horror at the £40k Child Benefit cut. That's the tip of the iceberg - they're SO arrogant that they will go too far.

CardyMow · 24/01/2012 12:54

MyNameIsInigoMontoya - THAT was my FAVOURITE film when Iwas younger. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Grin

woollyideas · 24/01/2012 12:56

Can I join the picket line during my lunch break? Am utterly sick of the number of benefit bashing threads that have appeared.

Hamburger please and a nice strong cuppa. I've brough my own ketchup 'cause I don't like that watered down stuff.

KnottyLocks · 24/01/2012 12:58

Shirl, it's ok. The anger is rising in all of us. I've had to step away from the benefits threads today before I chewed someones head off.

Instead I'm frothing at the the Govs attempt now to remove the Social Fund. Yep, the payments that help families in crisis. They will give money to the LAs but will not ringfence it so in all likelyhood it'll be spent elsewhere. But that of course will not be the Govs fault.
Sloping shouldered utter monsters.

Right, now who would like a large slug of rum in their mugs?

KnottyLocks · 24/01/2012 12:59

RUM!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2012 13:01

Oi! I'll have the rum!
Totally bloody sick of all the bashing going on. Some people are seriously nasty.
