Fed up of the cuts? Fed up of the mislead bigotry? This is your sanctuary. Unwind. Vent. Pop over to the frothers thread if you feel like getting organised and doing some proactive stuff or just chill out with a cup of builders tea in a polystyrene cup.

Welcome.

[regular reminder to self>

I am not A Professional Disabled Person. I am me. In addition to free will, my life is influenced by many factors, from gender to education. The factors can be very powerful and move up and down in importance, but they are all just elements of me.

At the moment, I seem to spend all my waking time sitting in a box called Being Disabled and speaking to people with the knowledge of Being Disabled and in some instances tag my posts as Being Disabled.

But that's just a space I'm visiting at the moment, like going to Rome for a weekend and suddenly finding I'm Being English. I'll still be English when I come home, but I won't be Being English. And shortly I'll step out of Being Disabled again. But what's going on really matters and may be irreversible, so if right now I can add value to the fight, here and in RL by Being Disabled, it's worth it.

Here endeth the declaration.

Now, back to Katie's chickens... Grin

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 22:37

Nilgiri - can I add that even when you are in Rome Being English there are often Romans there who do not define you just as That English Person - and that on MN those people are legion.

Contrary to all evidence currently.

CardyMow · 26/01/2012 22:38

I'm DELIBERATELY avoiding all the twat-threads tonight. I need a low-brow, easy-going night tonight. I'm going to trawl the boards looking for things that will cheer me up. First I shall go and check the disembowelling thread, and then I may be found in chat. Grin. I have had enough of being all serious and frothy.

I can cope with personal attacks, but when I am getting practically chased round the boards by certain posters, it's time to have a break!

No you have probably hidden 99% of the board and not realised it!

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 22:45

Heh

I can give you a run down of my fave non benefit threads if you'd like?

Jaysus

I haven't been here in a bit. What the jaysus is going on around here of late?
Haven't read the whole things - the fucking slog of wading through all that shite - but is this the way it's fucking gone in Britain?

What you think MaryZ- Enda taking notes?

One thing is crystal clear - there has never been a more welcome economic meltdown than this one, for the opportunity to shove through idealogies that would be baulked at in normal times.

Mme Lindor, I must be fair, they didn't tell me off, they just asked me, very nicely, to refrain from violence...

SinicalSanta · 26/01/2012 22:59

MaryZ - Plus we have the Travellers to be our (pisstaking scrounging etc) scapegoats.

As an aside, whenever I hear the word 'privitise' I hear it in Varadkars voice.

It's fab.

Nilgiri · 26/01/2012 23:14

Actually I'm sure it's much the same as Being Mum. [dubious childless MNer emoticon]

Even when the label's jolly useful, you don't want to spend your life being always that.

I tell you what tho, having read the dead people OP, no way man. I've seen the films.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 23:19

No tongues?

I was robbed!

Of course not I am and will always be A Mum - that doesn't mean that is my only facet. You're safe here on this thread Nilgiri - we're all pretty cool and non wanker.

Mary - night night lovey - it's not ALL combative out there, just picj your threads wisely.

CardyMow · 27/01/2012 00:42

MN classics. I missed all except the very start of Buppy's cuntworms thread. I came back and couldn't find it. I just found it hiding in classics. Strangely, laughter is a good medicine. Can we prescribe MN classic threads when frothers get a bit disheartened? Worked a bloody treat for me. Grin

garlicfrother · 27/01/2012 00:47

True, Hunty! I've been glued to Random Acts Of Kindness all day - filling my need for a lurve injection :)

ShirleyO · 27/01/2012 00:53

I've gone all renogade

MmeLindor. · 27/01/2012 07:49

Hello Santa. Nice to see you again.

Nil girl
Loved your post

The Random Act of kindness is a lovely thread. Just caught up on it. I remember the first one - I think it was LL who started it. Good to see that there are kind people about, not just Wankers

Why did iPhone capitalise wankers there?

I am having a happy day cause my friend gave birth yesterday to a baby girl. Grin

KnottyLocks · 27/01/2012 08:04

MmeL, Thanks for starting that one.

Maybe we should bomb the boards with some silly threads? Frothing activism of a sort.

I'll ponder on that during the school run.
