I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 22:28

apparently, quite a few people are following me

fuck knows how that has happened

TapselteerieO · 01/12/2011 22:33

Apologies for the misquote Lubey, I do think the Condem Government seems to get their economic argument over in sound bite form much more easily, how do they defend the indefensible? Why are people sucked in?

Hello Breadandbutterfly.

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 22:36

I think I am following you already, AF. What is the name of your twitter a/c?

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 22:41

AFMumsnet

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 22:42

I get to my homepage thing, and all the buttons don't work

it just does ..... nothing

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 22:56

Are you logged in? Stupid question, I know.

Ticketybootoo · 01/12/2011 22:56

Hi AF and Kate - 1st posting on here .

Will sign petition and agree with AF that a massive coincidence that the report was leaked about mortality in hospitals came out before the strike. Any clinical person knows that this has been true for years and doesn't just include weekends- in some cases its overnight too.

There is so much pressure on Trusts to save money that they often cut nursing staff at weekends and the truth is that its nurses who will be the ones who pick up if someone is deteriorating as they observe the patient 24/7 .

Things have got markedly worse and what makes me so MAD is that the population of London is increasing so fast ( approx 300,000, per year) and the number of hospitals isnt. Theres no way that the ones we have now can cram anyone else in ...

HedleyLamarr · 01/12/2011 23:05

Tapselteerio there is no need to make any cuts at all as long as they go after the tax avoiders/evaders. As a country we are losing about £70Bn a year. Individuals like Philip Green, paid billions yet pays less tax than if he was on average wage, corporations like Tesco, using loopholes to avoid tax. Virgin being registered in Lichtenstein to pay less tax. Close the loopholes and make every corporation that has a trading office here pay tax. Force Philip Green to pay his tax. We the poor are paying for these cunts.

MmeLindor, I am @HeadlessLamarr on Twitter. Please add me to #frothers. I am frothing. Not for me, but for my children.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 23:11

Mme , not a stupid question (where I am concerned) but yes, I am logged in

My name appears in the top right hand of the screen etc

tickety thanks for picking up what I posted in my first couple of msgs on this thread

nobody else did, and it absolutely floored me at the time

the utter transparent calculation of "leaking" that info 48 hrs before a public sector strike

maybe you have to be a health worker to feel the full force of such an attack, I dunno

nobody else I know in RL noticed it either, except my poor DH who felt the full force of my ranting at the time (his eyebrows are still to grow back....)

HedleyLamarr · 01/12/2011 23:17

Tesco are mentioned purely as an example. Other tax avoiding/evading corporations are out there. There are fucking loads of the fuckers. Ffs Gideon and ShinyDave, rein them in and get them to pay tax. Oh, sorry, they fund your party.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 23:20

LittleTyga · 02/12/2011 00:02

I've name changed to my twitter name to make it easier (was razors) This thread has been thundering along! Will have a little read try to catch up.....

LittleTyga · 02/12/2011 00:07

AF - That news story puzzled me too when I heard it on the radio, because that story came out weeks ago - then they started peddling it around again? very blatant - I don't watch, read or listen to mainstream news if I can help it - I prefer more independent sources these days!

TapselteerieO · 02/12/2011 00:14

"Private sector Unilever workers have just voted to take industrial action to defend their own pensions" So it is us against them, and we are all in it together against the Condem Government. Article here.

garlicnutter · 02/12/2011 00:33

What does Unilever care? They can replace them with workfarers, and/or relocate to Malaysia.

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 01:02

I have just done the biggest ever load of #ff on Twitter. I think I got you all but if not please let me know via Twitter and I'll add you in. I've added hashtag #frothyfriday so you can view them seperate to the main frothers tweets if you want to find people to follow easily.

And now to my sick bed

This blog is by a MNetter and many MNetters contribute to it. It is a mix of politics and fun stuff, but maybe worth linking up.

Should we have a blog roll? Any good blogs that you know that we could add to it?

SpringHeeledJack · 02/12/2011 08:18

marking place...will catch up later

NorfolkNCarolSingers · 02/12/2011 08:45

I have taken the advice and am now following my Tory bastard MP, will retweet anything worthwhile.

RoyalWelsh · 02/12/2011 09:33

Right, I joined at the start of the thread but then RL got in the way, so I have sped read the thread Grin and and also read the webchat yesterday. I was quite surprised at how wishywashy Ed Thingy was - people seemed to be calling for actual answers rather than 'we don't agree with what is going on either' type answers and it would have been the perfect opportunity for him to garner supporters, but hey ho...

I have reopened my Twitter account and seem to be following BIWI and have retweeted ShirleyKnots tweet about the difference between women and mens contributions... I also c+p'd a previous posters joke about bankers, teachers and Daily Mail readers on to my FB status. The area that I grew up in is a BNP/Daily Mail stronghold so I may well get lynched for having it - there were more than one status' about the 'bastard teachers' striking.

Just a thought - why is it only the teachers that seem to be getting bad press for striking? No one seems to be making a fuss about the other public sector workers that were striking as well.
