I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 20:07

chanting I love your email

I have nicked it, re-jigged it a bit, and am going to send to my local MP

CardyMow · 01/12/2011 20:24

I have a few of these that aren't coming up when I search on Twitter -

@MNWynken
@Mnorthernmonkey
@SwissTonii
@MNorfolkNChance
@tapselteerieo

What am I doing wrong?!

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 20:25

I couldn't find some of you on Twitter, but checked under the #frothers tag.

Oh, someone asked about finding us.

The best way to do that is to create a list of #frothers. I will do one and you can all nick it.

FontSnob · 01/12/2011 20:29

Can't froth so much this evening due to other commitments, will catch up later.

CardyMow · 01/12/2011 20:32

AF - I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you! It's just that I seem to have worked out how to 'do' Twitter, and considering I didn't send my first e-mail until 2004 , I only worked out fb just over a year ago and have no idea what a lot of computery talk is, the fact that a technologically inept person like me can do it is a Shock even to myself!

If you google Twitter, and click on it, you get onto te registration page, and register. Then when you have registered, go into your e-mail and click on the link in the e-mail from Twitter. That activates your account and signs you in. Then go to the search box, and look for HuntyCat. Click 'follow'. Then click on the bit that says 'followers' under my name. Then you can just click on 'follow' to follow those people.

Does that help?

KateMiddIeton · 01/12/2011 20:35

I was just about to post that first job once central Twitter account set up is to do a frothers list Grin

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 20:37

#frothers list

If you are not on, tweet me and I will add you.

That way we can keep up with each others. Just check out the list and follow everyone on it.

CardyMow · 01/12/2011 20:37

Blogs, mind you - I am Confused. Here is where I admit out loud that when Garlicnutter PM'd me to ask if I would sign up for the blog - I had to ASK her WHAT a blog WAS. Blush.

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 20:40

I have a Twitter Tutorial here if anyone is a bit confused.

BIWI · 01/12/2011 20:45

I wanted to post on the blog, garlicnutter, but it won't let me - says only 'team members' can post. How do I become a team member?

adamschic · 01/12/2011 20:48

Can someone mention when it comes to students fees about loans only being available for up to 4 yrs. How are people going to specialise and do masters etc when they have to pay 9k plus living expenses. This will stifle education even further. Sorry don't know how to tweet and blog.

I don't understand it all btw only that my DD was hoping to go into graduate medicine and won't be able to. No chance.

blackoutthexmaslights · 01/12/2011 20:49

adamschic Sad

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 20:53

hunty no that doesn't help

I did all that already

my twitter account is there, it just won't work

and you didn't upset me, really Smile

ChantingAsISpeak · 01/12/2011 21:08

AF feel free! I think the more we annoy them and challenge them to answer the questions, the greater the chance they may just answer :)

AnyFucker · 01/12/2011 21:12

ta Smile

lubeybaublely · 01/12/2011 21:29

adamschic Shock have you got a link at all to something I can read about this? If not don't worry I will do some research and do a blog post about it

TapselteerieO · 01/12/2011 21:55

I love doing research, just point me in the direction

breadandbutterfly · 01/12/2011 22:02

Wow. I spend waaay too much time in the Politics forum, and usually feel rather overwhelmed by all of George Osborne's bezzie mates who hang out here, so slightly overwhelmed by 8 hundred and 40 something posts by lefties. Shock Don't feel you have to restrict yourselves to just one thread though - lots going on in PoliticsLand.

I've been ill so haven't said hello yet on this thread. Hallo

Can't use twitter and don't have time to read back over 34 pages - can anyone summarise if the call to action has so far reached the high point of 'frothing' on twittter, or whether there was more to it I missed?

adamschic · 01/12/2011 22:04

Lubey, nothing to link to, but someone has been into school today to talk about student finance.

There have been a few legal challenges but nothing has come of them yet.

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 22:09

AF
are you signed up to Twitter then?

lubeybaublely · 01/12/2011 22:22

TapselteerieO that was me with the figures, it was 3.9% of GDP (with no global economic issues) in 1997 when Labour took power

In 2007 the deficit the tories inherited was 2.1%

It's currently somewhere around 7% although this graph doesn't seem to have been updated with exact figures : here is aforementioned graph

There has been criticism for measuring it against GDP, but that is beside the point really - it just provides a constant 'control' figure to measure it against, and therefore demonstrate the data imho.
