Politics

I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

I'm probably going to put a link in my blogroll to the blog.

Don't think I can write anything particularly helpful, as my stuff is pretty..um...funny but shit...but am happy to help obviously.

(tis Shirley here BTW in my xmas dress)

We're not political. We've just had enough.

#frothers is our hashtag. Because we are getting organised...

Ed says...
I am not surprised you are angry about it. I support the campaign against what is happening. #frothers

Garlic
I would have the name and the url the same as the title, as it is less confusing.

Maybe you could do that and have Britain is Sleepwalking as the tagline.

TOO MANY CUTS
Britain Is Sleepwalking

Am writing about general dissatisfaction with the opposition and the Ed chat today.

Te
That is a good idea, to have punchy summaries on the blog then link to actual longwinded post.

garlicnutter · 01/12/2011 16:02

Thanks to those who've already replied. I need to take a breather myself - am still in PJs Shock

Blogging guide:

To get into the blog, go here: www.blogger.com/start and log in with the email account you registered for authorisation.
You could also go to the blog homepage, toomanycuts.blogspot.com/ and click on the Sign In link - it's at the very top right, though practically invisible.

Once you've signed in to Blogger, you'll see your dashboard with your list of blogs.

Click the orange pencil icon to write a new post, and write what you want to tell the world.
Next, you'll see the Post Editor page. Start by giving your post a title, then write the main post.
When you type your post, the editor uses a plain typeface. However, it should publish in the website font - check in Preview.
Click the Preview button at the top to make sure it's ready to go, and then click the Publish button to publish your post.

There are full instructions here, including how to add pictures and stuff.

Do have a go! You can delete your post if you don't like it.

We have 15 potential authors so far, 4 of whom have registered :) List later.

Hully that's just the #frothers list of who is on twitter

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 16:32

Right. First blog post done. Do you want me to put a link on the TMC blog?

Am off to find you all on Twitter. Then I must do some frantic housework before DH gets home.

garlicnutter · 01/12/2011 16:34

Ooh, ooh, MmeL, yes! Or even a post?!

BIWI · 01/12/2011 16:37

Twitter is your nemesis, Hully!

Hullygully · 01/12/2011 16:41

It's all like a horrible nightmare

garlicnutter · 01/12/2011 16:47

I hate Twitter. It's just one bloomin' network too many Angry

I'm going to have to start doing it soon, for some other projects, but am glad for now that you lot don't need me adding to your hashes, ands & ats!

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 16:48

Have followed loads of you.

May I make a suggestion to the Twitter thang.

The large scale tweeting of MPs etc - I don't think it is very effective. Much better is to follow a few MPs - maybe your own and any who speak in an area which interests you. Then if they make a comment on something, or they tweet about something, then tweet back with a question or a statement.

Include a link to the blog, or #frothers hashtag - I quite like it.

But Twitter is about communication and I find it most effective on a one-to-one basis.

The MPs likely get so many mass tweet actions, I am sure they ignore them.

LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 01/12/2011 16:49

Am following some of you but don't want to put twitter name here as rl and can't work out how do do another, still posting there but not crossing to here iyswim.

Happy to do a blog post at some point, who needs the email addy?

MmeLindor. · 01/12/2011 16:55

Right will put the post up on my blog and on TMCs, to get maximum exposure. If you don't like it, tell me and I will take it down.

Here

NESSAtheredROSEreindeer · 01/12/2011 17:12

Hello. May I join you?

garlicnutter · 01/12/2011 17:19

MmeL, I disagree about mass tweeting to opinion leaders. They peruse their trending reports avidly.

Very good introductory post, imo :)

Peachy · 01/12/2011 17:19

Right hello

Just to say sorry if it looks like I am freelaoding: not, DH in middle of uni project so PC access restricted but taking careful notes.

Already follow a few MPs- including my local [aul Flynn (Lab). Would skip him, QI even emntioned he was a waster and when I last contacted him about disability stuff he forwarded a letter from Maria Miller basically saying so what if we cut there's time until 2012 sort it aht love and didn;t even offer an opinion.

So might follow someone a bit more- ahem- useful.

Also happy to write bloh entiries although there are a few with my disdability specialism on here- autism is my specialism-proper but also carers and as DH is making the transition as a mature student from third year to wFT work (in June) and is trying to grow a small business can do that too.
