I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

If someone can come up with a good line, then here is the official epetitions link

TeWihara · 30/11/2011 20:10

I think it would be good to have a blog with a post a day or week (say) with details about each cut and why it is so awful and details of specific things you can do if you want to oppose the cut, eg petitions to sign which MPs to write too + the address' email, twitter to do it.

Then if people want to twitter,fb,contact the press they have one place they can direct people with a good summary of what is going on and what can be done. Just directs everything a bit more.

It would need more than one blog writer collaborating though, as obviously different people know more about different issues.

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 20:13

Does this line work for that Monkey?

We the unheard are telling you the unelected (Con-Dems) that we have HAD ENOUGH Although I do think I have stolen that from someone else. It feels familiar.

What we don't want to do is dilute our action. It may be better to align to some of the other groups out there. Sunshine posted what looked like an excellent link up the thread but I was on my phone so couldn't read it properly.

Yes good points Te.

I am worn out with incensed-ness. I am doing some activism on one topic (Smart Meters, another blinding victory of money & bullshit over common sense & efficiency) and will post progress on relevant threads.

Just now, posting to support.

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 20:18

So, we need a thread to vent and sooth. A sanctuary from all the madness. (That'll be this then).

Information links

Action links (ie things to do to make a difference, petition signing etc)

Communication strategy - how do we get the message out there, spread and something done?

Anything else?

OP posts:
FuckYouGideon · 30/11/2011 20:23

I think Te's idea is a good one. I can write reams on the Localism stuff. Just need to avoid the Torygraph jumping on the bandwagon.

I will also write to my MP. He's a fucking Tory on the fucking 1922 committee so will no doubt wipe his arse on my letter but I'm going to do it regardless.

Have joined you on Twitter (under a different alias - Pickles' Pies). Please come and follow me! I am trying to follow as many of you as I can find.

garlicnutter · 30/11/2011 20:25

Te, do you want me to set the blog up?

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 20:25

That line works fine!
endind it with #frothers. All it takes is to go down the list of the mps twitter names starting with @-whoever--that line then #frothers

I'll start with @acarmichaelmp We the unheard are telling you the unelected (Con-Dems) that we have HAD ENOUGH #notinmyname #frothers
copy and paste away :)

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 20:27

If you like I can do a larger list of each so you can c/p them straight to twitter but you'll have to wait for me to write it.

would prefer it if you told me you wanted a list though because it will take a while

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 20:31

Just tweeted that first one :)

HugosGoatee · 30/11/2011 20:31

I like the idea of a blog. I can do education stuff like academies.

Also wanted to say there's no way I can keep up with this thread but fully support those who have time to dedicate and I do want to be involved and support, even if it's just adding my name. Easier to read a blog once daily than stay on top of a 600 post thread though!

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 20:36

Just a few to get started

TapselteerieO · 30/11/2011 20:39

Actions speak louder than words I really enjoy talking and this is great but I think it is time to DO something.

cardibach · 30/11/2011 20:44

I'm good at writing stuff in a convincing way (Engish Teacher) although I don't know that much about many of the issues on here. I can froth in a general way and very specifically about education. If anyone would like me to write stuff for official purposes I'm happy to if you send me the content! I know many (most) of you are great at that too, but it's my skill so I thought I'd offer it for The Plan.

Scarletbanner · 30/11/2011 20:44

I was a sad frother last night. Today, I'm feeling more hopeful. Took dc to the TUC rally in C London. Massive turnout, loads of lovely people there, all of them frothing a little bit.

Best placard: Eric Pickles ate my pension.

fothergill · 30/11/2011 20:47

I love that this thread is about uniting the impotent and seems to be self regulating over 600 messages. Good work.

TapselteerieO · 30/11/2011 20:49

campaign strategy"Modest suggestions for anyone trying to save the world".

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 20:51

Scarlet, I saw a banner today with that on too (Manchester)

Very fitting

There was also a brilliant one with a pic of Shiney Dave's bottom face saying "1%"

next to a pic of some trifle saying "99% mess"

some people are so creative

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 20:52

sorry "1% Eton"

it doesn't make sense otherwise, and I completely ruined the joke didn't I ? Blush

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 20:53

or was it the other way round

oh fuck it

I did see another placard saying "hang the rich"

I didn't really like that one, but at least it stuck in my mind properly...

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 20:56

I can write about employment issues.

OP posts:
FontSnob · 30/11/2011 21:10

Out of interest, ive joined the twittering frothers, how searchable does it make me? Can someone now get from my name via google to this name (if they knew what they were doing).

Scarletbanner · 30/11/2011 21:11

I think I know what you mean AF. I wish I had thought of a funny slogan too. I did like the people offering cups of Solidaritea too.

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 21:14

I think I know what I mean too Grin

at least I did, until i messed it up
