Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

i once remember someone saying to me and I think i've said it before that the friend who was lowered through the roof to Jesus by his 4 friends was healed through the faith of his friends. He wasnt in a position to get himeself there so had to be supported. Maybe thats where you are just now. You just need to allow yourself to be supporte and prayed for.

Evening Ladies,

I've had a fab week with DD but am now feeling a bit blue at the prospect of another weekend with DH away. DD clearly misses him when he isn't here and constantly asks for him. I find saturdays can be very lonely when he is away as everyone else is busy with their own family. My family are poorly so won't be able to come and see us and DH has taken the car so I'm a bit restricted in what we can do (although on the car front, praise the Lord, I drove to Tesco today and did the week's shop all by myself!). I know that it's not a big problem and it's only one day but I would appreciate a few prayers that it would be a good day.

BouncingTurtle · 16/01/2009 21:18

Poor dd Swalismum. Have you got plenty planned to distract her with this weekend?

My prayers are with you all, but I'm thinking of all those who are suffering in Gaza... those who have lost family and children most especially, please can I ask you to do the same, pray that a ceasefire is agreed and that it'll finally be followed by a lasting peace.

Thanks all.

Good morning ladies.

Thinking of you SS. I remember how long days could be with a toddler who wants dad! And I so remember how long weekends can be without toddler groups/family around.

So, here are NQGU's suggestions for a long Saturday:

Go for a wellie walk (with bread to feed the ducks/pigeons/any flying thing you can find)

When you come back, make a tent under a large table by putting a double sheet over the top. Put several toys under there, and have fun taking them out and putting them in again. (Have the washing basket handy as a boat, or to put the toys in when you have finished.)

Have some telly time.

Make lunch then make fairy cakes and eat (some of) them.

SS, do some Mumsnetting during sleep time.

Have another quick walk to the playground, or to jump in puddles in wellies if you have any (puddles that is!)

Do finger painting. Do lots of red finger prints on a paper, and draw on black dots, little black legs to turn them into ladybirds.

Go back in the tent or have tickle time.

Have tea and a looooong bathtime.

Howsat?

God bless all.

Swaliswan · 17/01/2009 13:28

Sounds fab NQGU!

So far she's loved helping me do my hair, going for a walk, watching some ITNG, playing hide and seek with mummy and helping to make scrambled eggs for lunch. But, she had a tantrum being put in the pushchair when I had to nip to sainsburys, had another one when I wouldn't let her just walk out into the road whilst we were out for a walk and then had another one complete with head banging when I wouldn't let her play with my knife at lunchtime

My delightful little girl is now safely tucked up in bed getting some much needed rest before an afternoon of baking banana tea bread and playing dens!

BouncingTurtle · 17/01/2009 19:10

Swaliswan (sorry I got your name wrong before) - glad to hear you are having a good day!

Been to the ILS they seem well. Apparently there has been a lady coming in every day to help with housework and shopping. MIL has been propping her leg up but is managing to walk about with her leg strapped up using a zimmer frame. Lunch went very well, we had BIL, his gf, his 2 dds and her dd there as well so it was a merry crowd - since I'd washed up when I arrived and cooked, BIL and DH washed up and tidied afterwards.
DH also presented FIL with a bible, FIL has been talking to DH lately about renewing his relationship with God, please pray that FIL will find wisdom from his Bible to help him hear God.

CaptainDippy · 17/01/2009 20:32

Glad you seems to have had good days Mine has been ok and I am shattered now, going to go and dribble in front of the TV .....

DutchOma · 17/01/2009 21:17

BouncingTurtle, Glad your day went well and that you and your husband could minister to both the outer and the inner man, so to speak.
Swaliswan, dd in bed? You as well?
Dippy, hope you roll straight from the telly into bed.
Love and prayers for all.

Lots of Prayers. xxxx

SweetestThing · 18/01/2009 08:50

Morning, friends. SS, I hope the rest of your day turned out well.
BouncingTurtle, I hope your FIL finds his way back to God.

Please could you pray for our friend Nigel, who had bone marrow transplant last year and is showing some signs of host rejection. He has twins of 4 and a DD of 5 and just wants to see them grow up.

Lots of prayers for all of you and yours.

amber32002 · 18/01/2009 14:56

Praying for everyone as I read through. Have survived church today, with a good friend with me. Prayed like mad for the courage to work out what I'm supposed to do or not do now.

Prayers for all...

I've had a productive day, writing for the village mag as "Reader's Ramblings" and updating my CV (it probably needs doing again! But it'll do for the agency meeting tomorrow). Plus I visit the school tomorrow morning. Am feeling tired, stressed and anxious. Virtual hugs needed please, am "hiding" from the family because its quieter. I guess I ought to go feed them...

CaptainCaveman · 18/01/2009 18:13

Just back from inlaws and shattered due to O's poor sleeping last night.

sooz what lovely pics on your profile . Ds1 is loving school, praise God.

Praying, as ever, for you all

notsofarnow · 18/01/2009 18:33

evening all hope you all had good Sundays.
We had pulpit swap this morning was good.

Ended up without uniform this morning because didn't have a pair of tights lol. The questions you get when your not dressed properly.

Dd is a little better please pray for a miraculous recovery overnight she has missed so much school. She comes to life around lunch time but she's not going to be able to do that if she is going to go to school.

please pray for relationship with dd2 is not good.

Swaliswan · 18/01/2009 19:18

A quick update on how my weekend turned out. DD was a bit grumpy but OK when she woke up from her nap. We had fun making banana loaf and getting her tea ready then DH turned up! He managed to get the evening off and this morning. He was supposed to go back into TA this afternoon after church but I ended up in the obstetric day unit because of abdo pains. Everything is OK, I'm just very uncomfortable and tired. Don't really know what's causing the pain but I'm not in labour and Bean is not distressed. Bean has been extremely active and I think that is causing some of my discomfort. Whilst I was on the monitor, I had 100 foetal movements per hour!

BouncingTurtle · 18/01/2009 20:17

Swaliswan - hooray for your DH, but sorry to hear you've been in hospital. Glad everything is ok though.

Myjobismum - pray that Naomi is better in the morning. Can sympathise, as Daniel has been poorly too - has cut tooth no. 8 and that and the jabs he had on Thurs have really knocked him for 6. Have given him calpol and Ashton & Parsons. We didn't go to Church because we didn't want to take him out as he was so out of sorts. He has been very sleepy, clingy and miserable today, was the same yesterday and Friday night though worse today. This is the first time he has really been poorly so it's hard seeing him so upset Hopefully he'll be better in the morning.

Prayers for Nigel too., SweetestThing. Let's hope that the rejection can be reverses. Pray that God watches over his family.
