Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Keep having faith CaptainDippy - God has His plans for us, He just doesn't always let us in on them!

Prayers for you all.

Thinking of and your dd, Notsofarnow

Praying for everyone still as I read through.

MaryBS · 16/01/2009 08:00

CD, just think, if you and DH can come through this, how much stronger your marriage will be... have you ever heard the sermon illustration about the mug made from clay, how much stronger it is if it has been fired in the kiln? I'm not suggesting you stuff your DH in the oven , but we believe you CAN get through this.

Just to confirm, Sarah DID die when her life support was switched off. There were 170 in the church the other night. She has parents and a brother at Uni, please remember them in your prayers. Also the boy who was driving the car - he has now been discharged from hospital, but what scars HE must bear.

Lord we entrust Sarah to your everlasting and loving care. Bring peace and healing to Sarah's family and friends, who are struggling with the loss of a girl who seemed too young to leave this life.

Mary - Aw so sad re: sarah, prayers for her family as they adjust and come to terms with such a tragic accident.
Prayers for your job application, (positive thinking and prayer) sounds the perfect job for you.

CD - Sorry you are struggling, mary made me lol about firing dh, but seriously, continued prayers for you both.

Prayers for dd, tonsilitis, rash all over her body, high temperature and fed up.

Also prayers for my bruises getting ds to school because he was upset dd wasn't going.

Thanks for your welcomes

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 09:53

Just put a few pic's on, check my beautiful dc. Can't wait for summer now. DD asking for ice-cream, maybe something to do with her throat though! got doctors at 11.10am with her. prayers we get sorted.

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 09:54

Pants its not worked!

FAQtothefuture · 16/01/2009 09:55

ermm can't see 'em

oh - H was here for 4hrs last night! We cooked boerwors and rice (together!) and demolished a bottle of wine and just talked about nothing really, just enjoying each others company.

We're leaving the "serious" stuff until we start going to relate - for now we're concentrating on just having fun and trying to enjoy each other again

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:05

Wow, fab faq, my dh and I could do with some of that

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:06

Yippee, pic's are on, I'm not thick, just stupid,

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:07

what are boerwors

FAQtothefuture · 16/01/2009 10:07

awww very cute kids

Yes, was a really lovely evening, he didn't leave until 1am ! And he even nervously leant over towards me as he was leaving and we had one of the awkward "over the shoulder" type hugs - you know the ones where you bodies are about 5ft apart and you're not really sure if you should be hugging at all LOL.

FAQtothefuture · 16/01/2009 10:07

boerwors are South African sausages - totally different to the pork/beef/whatever ones here in the UK.

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:09

lol faq, sounds lovely, I can't remember the last time I felt should I or shan't we kiss {bleugh} yuk! (my harry enfield moment)

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:09

I'll look out for them, what do they taste like and where do you get them?

FAQtothefuture · 16/01/2009 10:11

they're quite rich and have quite "course" texture (none of this mushed up meat ). Decent ones are hard to come by, our local butchers makes some, but they're not "right", these ones were ones H got from a South African shop in MK so were the "real deal" - oo they were yummy

FAQtothefuture · 16/01/2009 10:14

mind you I think I did most of the waffling talking, I had quite a few more glasses of wine than he did so was, ermm slightly drunk tipsy, and I tend to talk non-stop when I get like that.

Still I can't have been too bad if he was still here at 1 (or maybe he'd been trying to leave earlier but couldn't get a word in edge ways to excuse himself hehe) and it was him that initiated the awkward hug.

Think we're still quite a way off the shall we or shan't we kiss stage though.

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:28

Its still a brill step to take, and positive, like you said further down the thread, you dug deep and could still feel some feelings, so thats a start, the rest will follow in time, and working through things with relate will help, prayers for continued daily goals for you to make it work. My dh and I went to a catholic type of relate, (even though we are CofE) it was very pleasant, in a strange sort of way, but on the journey home and until the next day we couldn't talk. Never did work that out. Good luck anyway.

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:29

And if it takes a little tipple to relax you, so what! if it gets results!

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:31

I can't drink, I'm good for nothing after half a cider although I can drink wine if mixed with juice heathen that I am.

ZipadiSoozi · 16/01/2009 10:33

But cheap!

Swaliswan · 16/01/2009 11:20

Hey Sooz! BOING

BouncingTurtle · 16/01/2009 11:22

FAQ - glad you and exH had a good time! Those sausages sound lovely!

Soozi - oh your poor dd, icecream will cheer her up and make her throat feel better

MAry - thanks for the update on Sarah my prayers are with her family at this sad time.
