Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

FAQtothefuture · 14/01/2009 20:02

Praying for that family Mary

I have just spoken to my Vicar - she said yes to being my Guarantor

And I rang exH today - was supposed to be a quick call to arrange another time for him to come over to chat so that we can make some sort of "plan" for how we're going to proceed from here...........well 50 minutes later we hung up (and I think the conversation would have gone on longer had he not got a call on his other phone!).

Yes I'm very happy (and relieved) about it.

And, quite unexpectedly from my point of view given that I'd already spoken to him for nearly an hour today, exH rang me just after 9pm and I've only just got off the phone to him.

And I've been invited out for a meal, or a movie, whichever I prefer (by exH I hastedn to add lol)

Ladies if you have a baby born between 1086 and 2003, have you seen this thread, or others like it? It seems that the deadline to claim is 31 January. Can't vouch for it myself, but I'm going to call my tax office tomorrow and see if it works.

FAQ- wonderful news!

Mary rest in peace, Sarah, I'll pray for your family in their time of loss.

MIL was still waiting for the OT! Hope they come tomorrow as I know FIL could really do with some help!

Going to bed soon, so good night and God bless you and keep you all.

Notquitegrownup · 15/01/2009 09:58

Mary - how lovely that so many young people came to church for Sarah. Praying that her death may be the beginning of abundant life for many of those young people who will be questioning so much at the moment.

(How strange, though! I've just realised that I have always pictured you as worshipping in a small village church! Guess not, eh?!)

DO - just wanted to say a belated thank you for recommending the 'Lucas on Life' Bible notes. I am really getting a lot out of them at the moment. (Would anyone like me to pass on my past copies? Happy to do so, if they will be of use to you.)

God bless all.
