Anybody ever used a ouija board?

I posted this thread under the chat section last night. 'Met' some interesting people - but didn't really get much by way of answering my questions. There was a suggestion that I re-post under this topic - so here goes;

Has anybody on here ever used a ouija board?

Did it work?

what happened?

would you do it again?

you don't. you have no need to.

We have no need to contact bad ones either but people do. Do you mean that good spirits will come to you naturally?

You shouldn't try to contact spirits. Good mediums don't do that - they just open themselves up and allow the spirits to do the contacting if they wish.

None of this is a game and shouldn't be treated as such.

spirits come to some people naturally, both good and bad.

'contacting' them is just asking for trouble, IMO. letting them know you're there if they wish to talk, IF you are one who has such a capability, is another thing entirely.

if you have to 'contact' them, you're asking for trouble and should keep your nose out.

believe you me, it isn't always cool or fun for people who spirits are in touch with.

Snap, SG! Good to 'see' you around! :)

And you epis. Hope things are going well for you and that certain parts of life have settled down, or at least got easier to live with.

Much easier to live with, SG! Wink

Just wanted to say that I'm amazed this thread has been dug up from the bowels of MN. I got rid of the board that I had when I started this thread - only because it didn't work for me and I now have an absolutely gorgeous one that DH had made for me...only positive experiences all round.
I suggest that anyone who is interested reads the folowing book;
"How to Use a Ouija Board: The Truth About the Use of Ouija Boards and the Way in Which They Can Be Used Properly" by a guy called Keith Morgan. You can order it for less than £3 from amazon.
No offense to anyone or their beleifs, but it debunks all the rubbish and is very logical in its approach to where all the scaremongoring comes from.

wow, joash.

i do know people who have used them. but all too often, you see a whole lot of trouble from folks who were just clowning around, didn't take it seriously, etc.

personally, i don't have the need to 'contact' any spirit.

but to each his own, i suppose.

just be careful!

No never got involved but almost did. Can't recall the exact circumstances but we were invited to a party where they used the ouija board. The people involved (again can't rem the exact details) were totally freaked and the place was exorcised afterwards.

ExP why do you warn against the tarot. I have them read and didn't find anything sinister and some of what was scene in the cards came true, even though at the time I told the medium that she had it all wrong. Scary but true.

I didn't click on the earlier link so don't know what it relates to but have to say I am very interested in the "paranormal" as it were and would love to know more aside from going into Paganism, Witchcraft, the Ouija board and fanatitism. Paranormal was possibly the incorrect word to use, perhaps shud have put "spiritualism"

That's the whole point - it isn't about spirits, it's more of a psycholigical tool that can help the user look at different perspectives when faced with decisions (just like the Tarot is supposed to be used for).

Tarot are fine if you know what you're doing, just like anything else I suppose. I have very good pagan friends who use them often.

Ouija, however, I should point out, is not specifically connected with pagan beliefs.

joash - if you recall the beginning of this thread we had a conversation about the word 'play' when connected to the use of a oiuja board (I was under my previous identity back then).

I don't use ouija boards because I have no need. I always discourage the use of them when conversations on boards such as MN appear as they usually revolve around someone 'playing' and not using them as the serious tools that they are - in both pyschological and spiritual terms. Take the conversation to more serious levels and my attitude changes.

Thanks ExP, the lady I use for my Tarot is psychic and has an amazing presence. There is only one thing that she told me that aghasted me but when I responded in a certain way she told me it could be in a different fashion other than her immediate words because it showed in three of my cards. When I thought about it it is something that potentially could happen if timing is right and I do certain things which were in my life plan anyway. Sorry don't want to give TMI as to what it was. Just wanted to use the example.

couldn't agree more!!!!
But I do feel that many people wouldn't be at all interested in 'playing' if it wasn't for all scare stories. Many go into it hoping for a certain response and scare themselves with their imaginations rather than anything real happening.

So are there positive sides to the ouija and what are they. What sort of spirits come through?

Gosh, I pop to the loo and I miss loads of new postings! I had my tarot read 5 yrs ago, and she said that there was something really bad and wouldn't talk about it. I still worry about it! And don't worry, I never intend to use ouiji, for good or bad. Am too much of a wimp

GC I spoke to a friend some days ago who lost a family member and she had her tarot read a few months before her passing. She didn't show in her future at all. All the reader saw was her husband on his own. The reader didn't tell her she was going to die but that she saw her husband on his own.

girlchick · 19/03/2006 00:10

Oh no. Now I'm going to worry more learning! She got loads of stuff right about me as well that there was no way she could have known, my career, my DH. She did say my DP and I would have children, so I knew then we had a future together! She talked about my past lives, which I don't believe in at all, but it was wierd coz the past lives she mentioned did accurately reflect what my interests are now

Report
learning · 19/03/2006 00:12

GC I wouldn't worry too much and would suggest staying positive about whatever she said. I had a tarot reading some 20 years ago and took it all to heart and none of it happened.

Report
learning · 19/03/2006 00:13

The friend I talked about hadn't been given much hope medically to start with but it was just strange that the reader saw what she saw without knowing anything about her

Decent readers don't tell you 'bad things are going to happen' and they don't clam up and refuse to divulge any further either.

There are ethics and morals involved in Tarot (or any type of spiritual) reading and this woman clearly broke them - or more likely didn't have a clue what she was talking about.

learning · 19/03/2006 00:20

SG are you referring to my post or GC's. Just interested!

Report
learning · 19/03/2006 00:21

I am aware that they are not supposed to say the bad things.

Going back to my original ? are there an positives to Ouija boards?
