Mine was knowing very specific details and names that were very unusual. Also told me about adult dcs future work. Again specific. This particular reader is so hard to get an appointment with so doubt I'll get in again? All came true.

Has anyone else had a great reading?

@ginasevern that's a shame it unsettled you. Did you even want a reading? You were reluctant for a reason. Maybe you're psychic and knew it'd be too much? 😉 Actually we all are ( yes even all you naysayers)

Yes, I am a bit psychic but it's not something I encourage.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/10/2025 17:32

Hot reading.

I wonder what she was shouting? Was she trying to warn about something?

Apparently she was saying to not tell me anything because I’ll believe her because I’m too impressionable- something like that 😂

Bayroot1 · 22/10/2025 20:34

@pambeesleyhalpert how bizarre!

No more bizarre than practically everything else on this thread….

Thanks to everyone who posted today. God bless to all 🙏

Thank you for this thread @Bayroot1 . I always enjoy reading people’s experiences, but I absolutely love the total and utter self righteous dismissiveness of the naysayers. Reminds me of those who put Galileo under house arrest for life for believing the earth goes round the sun.

Of course there are charlatans out there, but there are in every walk of life. And bloody Derren Brown doesn’t know everything!

Bayroot1 · 23/10/2025 11:55

@Tutorpuzzle thanks for that. Yes there's always naysayers. I don't know why they get so het up. I can't imagine regularly posting on threads that I have no interest in. I just send love and light to them🙏 (saddos 🤣)

Yep.
That one reply post that said the psychic had a '1 in 365 chance ...over 70 years' of guessing the correct birth date of my daughter LOL.

BTW I am somewhat cynical about mediumship/psychic abilities but I have an open mind and would never diss other people's beliefs or experiences.

The medium I had was certainly very convincing. Even the Geordie nan bit -- I have a 'posh' Surrey accent so how on earth would she know DH family's came from the Newcastle area???

Life would be dull without the unexplained. All best wishes to everyone. ✨

CurlewKate · 23/10/2025 13:01

Life would indeed be dull without the unexplained. But even duller if we insist that the unexplained is unexplainable and we should not try to find ways to explain things.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 23/10/2025 13:18

A model psychic thread. It’s got the lot.

Why is it that no psychic, ever, has demonstrated psychic ability when put to the test in proper conditions?

Lemintonic · 23/10/2025 13:32

I went to see a vaguely well know psychic a couple of years ago. I will admit a few things were fairly off point and I have no real idea if he was 'real' There were plenty of things that struck a chord though and he named a town a long way away which he said had meaning. I had no idea what he was he was on about until I remembered a couple of days later that my late father had worked there as a policeman in the 1950s. I've never told anyone about this as it was way before I was born and he died when I was tiny so it has never been relevant. Just...odd.

He also said, which made me feel amazing (and no doubt that was his aim) that my husband absolutely adores me even though he has no idea how to show it. This I know is true and anyone could have said that - but hey, it made me happy

Mum had a knock on her door early 2000’s - a lady selling bits and bobs that she’d made, which was already a bit unusual for the time. She gave her an impromptu reading, most of which was a bit wishy washy and you could apply to many situations. However, what she did do is name both mine and my siblings future long term partners as “significant names”. She didn’t say who they were, just kept repeating them. My mum wrote it all down and underlined them but at the time said she must be mistaken as she knew no one with those names.
Not so strange, except both me and my sibling were in school at the time and so almost two decades before we met said partners!

dontletmedownbruce · 23/10/2025 13:47

I’ve been to two ‘demonstrators of mediumship’ this year. One was at a spiritualist church. I also paid to go to a theatre to see a prominent UK psychic (female).

In each instance, I was completely appalled - in fact, horrified - at how bullshitty they all were. The mediums were really obviously guessing. This couldn’t have been more clear. Serves me right for going along.

I’m prepared to accept there might be some people who can do what they claim. The people I’ve seen haven’t been able to.

If a ‘soul’ or a ‘spirit’ (whatever you take that to mean) steps forward - volunteers itself - to be channeled by the medium, then the medium’s words would make sense. If no such soul or spirit ‘comes through’ (😂) (🤢) then the medium should say ‘I’m not getting anything’ instead of making people sit through embarrassing guesswork that is laughable.

A person may, just perhaps (although it’s doubtful to me at this point), be able to communicate with some intangible essence. But if they cannot, I really wish they would not bluff, bullshit or pretend.

@feelingalittlehorse that reminds me of a story my mum told me. My nan had a gypsy knock on her door years ago. Obviously wanted her palm crossed with silver. Nan said she didn't have any money. Gypsy said yes you do you have half a crown in your pocket ( or some old coin? ) She was right. I think nan was so shocked she gave her it. No idea what her reading was like? I was a kid when told that story.

Over 30 years ago now, a gypsy knocked at my door on my day off. She asked me to cross her palm with silver etc. I'm not a believer, or disbeliever either as I think that none of us can know for sure what is and isn't true in a vast range of things in this world. I went with it as i thought, if it were true and I didn't oblige, she may curse me,(if that's true, you never know) so best to be safe haha. I didn't realise that meant she was going to tell me things. She asked no questions, but she told me that the very next spring, when my pink plant was in flower, I would have a baby daughter with beautiful big eyes and so much hair that people would stop to look at her and comment. i shut the door and laughed, it was like something from a fairy tale, what a load of nonsense I thought. You can guess what happened. The following April, when my pink Azalea was in full bloom as usual, I had a baby daughter with amazing big eyes and so much hair that the midwife had to cut it away from her face after delivery. Whoever saw her commented on her eyes and her hair. i got stopped in shops, post people at the door when I was holding her to answer the door.

interes Thread. Gypsies don’t knock on doors any more, I remember when I was young having them knock. Can’t remember what they said though. If anyone can recommend someone that would be good as I’m feeling conflicted, at the moment and could use a bit of guidance. TIA

I wouldn't ask on here you could get all sorts of weirdos. Ask locally. Or start a thread with your issue and mumsnetters may be able to advise? If it's fortune telling you want be wary who you go to. Plus it's not set in stone.

CopperTray · 24/10/2025 09:16

Mine is a bit funny. I went to this open night because my mother in law wanted to. Before it started I said to her ‘ hope she tells me where my grandmother’s engagement ring is’ as I had put it somewhere ‘safe’ and had forgotten where.

the woman picked on me and started talking about someone who sounded like my Nan ( and a bazillion other people’s Nan I expect) but then started talking about my wedding- which was odd as my Nan was too unwell to come when I got married.

A few months later I decided to search for the ring again and found it in the bag where my wedding dress is stored.

Just grateful to have the ring back- went straight out and got it resized so I could wear it.

I was at uni in the nineties and a friend of a friend read my palm and said I would marry a very clever intellectual man.
My husband is a professor and Head of School at a uni.

As a (presumably) woman at university in the 90s when the majority of women didn’t go, that was hardly an outlandish guess 😁

Just remembered another one. In my late 20's in a really bad relationship- had a tarot reading and she said something about not getting pregnant and then repeated this at least once more, possible twice during the reading.

Then when it was finished as she was showing me out she clutched my arm and said 'you will take care not to get pregnant won't you'

In hindsight she probably used her people reading skills to work out that I was in a shit relationship and a pregnancy may tie me to it. I remember being very confused by what she did as I was leaving as I had assured her that a pregnancy was definitely not in my plans....
