Yeay to getting the job CD.

Poo to the pox. Chop green grapes in half and pop them into a green jelly for her to eat. It is lovely and soothing for the mouth pox. Poor little soul

Give dd2 time. The lethargy is completely normal for up to 3 weeks after a bad dose of chicken pox. It's quite a powerful virus, which the body has to battle hard against. Rest is the only answer. (Some adults force themselves back to work too soon and can suffer horrid side effects. Kids fortunately don't force themselves beyond what they can do).

Mary - have you read "Tramp for the Lord", Corrie ten Boom's follow up to "The Hiding Place"? I've been reading it and keep on thinking of you. Happy to post it to you, if you would like to borrow it.

Hello everyone

God bless all.

CaptainDippy · 18/02/2008 15:31

Thank you NQGU They are both sleeping again now. The Dr has been and looked at DD's 2 & 3 and prescribed anti-b's. A friend has taken DD1 to go and get them, which is nice. Can't wait til DH gets home .....

Praying hard for work situ SS. xxxx

god to see you all

NorthernLurker · 18/02/2008 17:09

Swaliswan - I've even checked the agenda for change handbook now and all it says is that you have to return to employment - well if you're on a/l then you are definately still employed so I think we are right and they are wrong! Will pray this works out for you and that HR learn to read their policies properly!!!

worzella · 18/02/2008 17:59

Well done on the job CD! How's the pox? Hope the dippies are feeling better soon.

A quick visit - I'm trying to control my mumsnet random lurkings!

Hi to everyone....

Swaliswan · 19/02/2008 07:43

CD how was last night? Are your precious little DD's OK this morning?

My GP was very lovely yesterday. I have to go back next monday and then maybe go for a scan if I still haven't started bleeding. He said that I would have to wait until 6 weeks as a scan wouldn't show enough before then. He was more worried about how I was feeling emotionally than anything else. I don't know what's going to be worse, the moment that I start bleeding or going for a scan I'm trying to not think about it too much at the moment as I can't do anything to change the outcome.

Prayers for energy in SwaliLand today would be appreciated. DD got up at 5am and wouldn't go back to sleep. Also DH worked until 2am and then was up 4 hours later. He left for work at about 7am and will get home at 6pm if he's lucky before having to go to TA tonight until 10:30pm

CaptainDippy · 19/02/2008 10:50

So glad your GP was so lovely and understanding SS, it does help, doesn't it!!? Praying for your energy levels today and that you would be physically "sorted out" asap, iykwim!!? God wrap His loving arms around you sweetie. xx

It'a all bit "up and down" in DippyLand tbh - DD2 seemed a lot better this morning, but went to bed at 9.30 and is lying there now, all pathetic and vacant. P is being a pita, she never normally wakes up from morning naps time, but she is up now and I have loads I should be doing, but she won't let me go anywhere or do anything - really hoping she'll get tired and go back down again soon. I am not very good with unpredictability - I get all paniced and stressed, horrid feelings

Argh!

OP posts:
ZipadiSuzy · 19/02/2008 12:27

CD - Aw prayers for your dd's hope they recover quickly, I know what you mean about 'unpredictable' it can make you very anxious, prayers you have positive feelings and feel beeter soon yourself.

SS - Prayers for your work situation, I hope its all sorted and you can move on soon, thank you for thinking of me, my dh was made redundant last June, we set up a gardening business, he is 54yo can't read or write, has extensive learning difficulties so is basically un-employable, it was the best thing we ever did, he is so happy, but I do all the advertising and paper work, we had accounted for the natural lack of business in the winter, but the money has now gone!

Wouldn't it be nice not to pay for things in life, everything free, as long as we could prove we do work!

Sorry boring the socks off you!

bobsmum · 19/02/2008 12:52

Afternoon all

CD - sorry to hear about your plague house but congratulations on the job - what are you going to be doing?

Could you pray for my MIL as her brother died from pneumonia on Thursday. It was very sudden - he was only 62, but had been suffering from Alzheimers for several years. My (disabled) MIL had been looking after him until the last year when he eventually went into a home. So although she's devastated, I think over the long term it'll be a relief for her. Her brother didn't really know who she was anymore.

Dh is a bit sad that there's no way he or we can make it down south to the funeral.

On a positive note Dh started his new job yesterday and is quite excited by the whole thing. It's looking like he could still be home by 7pm if he's lucky as long as he's in work before 8:30am. With a 2 hour commute, this is still a long day, but he should be able to see the children before bedtime and have at least a quick cuddle with baby once he/she arrives! Prayers for travelling mercies as the old ladies in my last church used to say

Had a scan on Friday to check where placenta is and everything is looking normal. I'm now 80-90% likely to have a normal delivery Baby has beautiful rosebud lips according to the sonographer! Am 31 weeks now and counting down! SPD is bearable, just feeling tired.

If anyone wants to see ds' winning poetry performance then the school website has the video up and running. I won't link to it directly in case the webmaster gets antsy but it's all the w's dot buchananschool dot co dot uk and click on scottish songs and poems. Ds was the P1 winner

Praying for everyone too

Swaliswan · 19/02/2008 13:14

Sooz, I'm praying hard for you. The gardening business sounds like a fab initiative. I really feel for you running out of money and know money worries all too well. I am not in the slightest bit bored by your post. I have debated 'the need for money in this world' with several Christian friends and family members with some fascinating points of view emerging.

If you don't mind, I was trying to think of a few ideas for the business. As much as this is a time for prayer, it is also the time for practical help and this is the only way that I can possibly help you. Feel free to completely ignore them as I'm sure that you have been trying your absolute hardest to find work. How about offering to do a free 'spring tidy-up' of the garden to customers booking (and paying for) a set number of hours. Or how about some sort of incentive for refering a friend to you? I know that my nan's gardener also does window cleaning and windows get dirty all year round I don't know if he is any good at woodwork and could maybe make some garden furniture to sell to his customers or do any of customers want a new area of decking or some construction need for their garden. Maybe he could tempt someone with a new pond so that the water has time to settle before late spring when it could be a good time to introduce fish? Could he offer to paint sheds/fences etc? Is he good at designing gardens and could offer this as a winter planning service? Have you tried advertising in your church newsletter/civic centre/library/post office? Could you help him register with an agency for some winter manual work? Could he ask some of his current customers for references that he could show to potential customers maybe with some photos of his work? What other practical skills does he have?

I'm going to shut up now and hope that maybe there might be even one of my thoughts that is helpful to you.

Notquitegrownup · 19/02/2008 15:33

Flying by.

Brill ideas SS - I like the idea of a window cleaning gardener - though he might have to buy the goodwill of a window cleaning round, I guess. Simple picnic tables (those A shaped ones) particularly child sized ones sell really well round here too.

Hello all

MaryBS · 19/02/2008 17:10

Will try to catch up later, but just wondered if we could offer up a few prayers for the town of Bridgend in Wales, and for the families of all those teenagers who have committed suicide there, another one found today. Please God, don't let there be any more!

NorthernLurker · 19/02/2008 18:02

good point Mary! The news keep saying that there is no particular link - but there is obviously a very dark shadow there - praying that all the young people there can realise how precious they are, how loved and value themselves.

MaryBS · 19/02/2008 21:32

Bobsmum - remembering your MIL in prayer. Glad to hear the pregnancy is going well and PRAISE GOD for your DH's job!

CD - if you need a chat, you know where I am! I'm free tomorrow evening... God bless you and yours, and give you strength to battle the sea of spots!

Podmog, if I can be of any help, if it would help to talk, let me know. I know all about lost confidence and negative feelings... praying for you...

NQGU, am about the trip to Australia. I haven't read CTB since I was at school. Would love to read her book...

SS - praying for God to hold you up in his arms and keep you close at this time.

DO - how are you atm?

Everyone else - praying for you all... need to sort DS's bed out, he's just wet it. The past 3 nights he's woken from a bad dream about this time. He's very fretful and clingy atm and keeps wetting himself (after a relatively good half-term), can only assume its to do with being back at school... I've mentioned it to the school. I've settled him in our bed, while I sort out the bedding... my poor little soldier. Even the diesel in Thomas the Tank Engine scared him tonight, so much seems to scare him... and he is such a lovely lovely cuddly boy

CaptainCaveman · 19/02/2008 21:43

Hello ladies, popping in to let you know I'm praying for you all.

SS - love the ideas for Mr Sooz!
I'm also NHS employed (as a manager, boo hiss...) and you definately DO count annual leave as part of your 3 month period after mat leave. How odd for them to say you don't. They are utterly WRONG as NL says. Are you in a union - if so you should speak with your rep about this. If not, ask to speak to your HR rep and get them to go through the agenda for change handbook!! Praying that they see the errors they have made, and make amends sharpish!

CD -YAY for getting the job, you jolly clever lady. When do you start? PRaying for your poorly dds!

Ds bit my bum this evening. When I asked him why he said "because its so big mummy!" the cheeky little monkey!!

worzella · 19/02/2008 22:39

HI everyone - another flyin visit - new resolution to be in bed before 11!

CaptainDippy · 19/02/2008 23:36

CHEEKY DS, CC I start the job as soon as my girlies stop being poorly, which I hope will be soon - seemed a lot brighter the latter half of this pm - so keep praying!!

Bobsmum - glad the SPD seems fairly "controlled", continuing to pray sweetie. Great news that DH's job seems ok so far and that he might be home for bedtime cuddles, always good Yey for your placenta!! Praying for your MIL and DH and family So xxxx Off to look at DS' poem now!

Oh Sooooz Think SS made some good suggestions, praying business picks up asap - We really need our lawn doing asap, wish you lived nearer, we'd employ DH! xx

{{{{Mary's DS}}}}} Praying for a sense of calm for your lovely DS honey. xxx
