HI all, yes I got everything done, but still lots to do, but a little time to do it in. I've another tutorial in 3 weeks, by which time I've got to have written another sermon, in an "evangelising" style, whatever that is! I've also got to write my "assessed" sermon, ready for delivery on 9 March. Plus I need to crack on with the rest of my course work.

On a lighter note, I had a mother come up to me this morning at church and said how very good last week?s talk I did was. She said her children (aged 5/6 and 7/8ish) have been quoting from it all week, saying ?go on, you know you really want to?. She couldn?t remember at first where they?d heard it from, thought it was a film or something! So obviously it had an impact. Shame it had to be the devil?s words (or the words I used for the devil)!

Praying for you for tomorrow, SS. Praying also for strength for you CD, and for poor P. Good news about your DD CWE!

On a sad note, you may recall I asked for prayers for M and S from my congregation. Well last week S went into a hospice, where he died on Friday . I sat with M. in church this morning, to give her support. She's a lovely lady, and so pleased that S. found faith, and that he was confirmed only last month. Her faith is strong but she will miss him . They had been childhood sweethearts, but had only got back together in recent years, they would have been married 2 years next month.

CaptainDippy · 17/02/2008 18:08

Oh Mary that is Praying for go to strengthen and uphold her at this sad time. He is in a much better place now!! Lovely that your sermon was well recieved Praying you can pace yourself and get everything you need done.

DD's 2 & 3 have mainly slept today, both really quite poorly DD1 has been a bit of a pita too, think she is a bit Deary me ....

OP posts:
Roseylea · 17/02/2008 19:36

I'm praying for them Mary. at the chidren quoting you! Fab!

And for your little lot, CD! Chicken pox - yukkerty yuk! Hope you can all get a good night's sleep.

I'm praying for your cousin and nephew, Sooz. May God surround them both with his protecting presence and grant them good health.

Podglet oooh a new kitchen and bathroom! What are they like?

Love to everyone else. I've had a good day - at church I was leading the Sunday school group and some local kids came in and joined it! They'd been out playing and got bored, so found us! And dh and I went out for a very grown-up lunch (thanks to Tesco club points!) . I've just been to Evening Prayer which was lovely and peaceful, so it's all good.

If you can remember to pray for me tomorrow, I've got another meeting with the DDO (church chap). He'll be looking at "vocation" with me. I am kind of looking forward to it nad kind of a bit nervous as well (it's like being put under a microscope - slightly uncomfortable but incredibly interesting as well!)

CaptainDippy · 17/02/2008 19:42

Praying rosey - and yey! for local kids coming in to join Sunday Group

Glad things are (sort of ) progressing, Podmog honey - praying that this progress can continue - let us know how we can help you (as well as prayer of course ) It just sounds so frustrating for you. xx I think coming off the creche rota is a good idea at the present time - Like you say - you have given ten years to the creche, it is time for someone else to step up now and for you to find other outlets and to have some "me" time in church too. xx

Prayers for DippyLand appreciated - P's Chicken Pox are awful - now in her mouth too. DD2 still ill - lethargic and unwell, very worried about her DD1 is and being a pita - I am in all day with them today and I am scared that I am not going to cope Yuk!

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 11:03

Oh CD, that sounds terrible especially the pox in P's mouth I'm dreading DD getting chickenpox and am inspired by how well you are coping with your 3 DDs. You are doing a fab job. Is there anyone who you could call to come and keep you company even if they don't do any childcare for you? Are you still feeling poorly yourself? Is there any chance that you could all have an afternoon nap together?

CaptainDippy · 18/02/2008 11:19

CD - Firstly, Is the doctor going to do a home visit?

Secondly, Yipee!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS when do you start, aand what will you be doing?

ZipadiSuzy · 18/02/2008 12:00

Quick little prayer for my dh business, seems the frost has eventually taken over, so no work today! really worried about the lack of income.

Roseylea · 18/02/2008 12:55

Whoopppeeeeee CD! Well done!

So sorry to hear about the yukky pox though - it's so hard when the dc are ill. Much sympathy to you.

Prayers for work for your dh Sooz.

Podmog I'm praying for your church situation. It's great that you are taking some good steps forward. It doesn't sound easy though.

Well I'm a bit today as I had a fantastic meeting with the DDO! [grin He liked what I'd written and I managed not to sound like the blethering idiot / random person off the street / deluded timewaster that I feared I would! The eeek part of it (for there always is one) is that I've got to write two essays this month! I agonised over every word of my last one, so I think I'm going to have to worry less about these two and just "keep calm and carry on" as the saying goes.

One good thing isa that dh and I had a really good talk about the house over the weekend and it got all my ishoos out into the open. It seems that the extension, for all the hassle, is the best option. The architect is coming round on Wed pm so we'll have a better idea then. I cerainly feel much more peaceful about the whole thing, so thank you Lord for "bearing my burdens".

Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 12:55

CD is there anything I can do other than pray for you? Would it help if I phoned you? I hate the thought of you feeling so alone.

CONGRATULATIONS on the job!

Sooz, praying for your lack of income. What sort of business does your DH have? Could he use this dry spell to work on advertising his business or doing some paperwork?

A little prayer request for me (as if I haven't asked for enough recently )...

I've spoken to HR today and it seems that progress has been ridiculously slow with sorting out my return to work in a new role. I'm getting very anxoius about the return to work and leaving DD anyway so not knowing when I'm going to return or where is scary. Plus they have told me that they expect me to work for at least 3 months before leaving and that I'm not allowed to count my annual leave as part of that 3 month period. I don't know how things are going to work out and I don't like feeling like that!

CaptainDippy · 18/02/2008 13:08

Dr on his way....

Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 13:14

I'm so pleased that you are getting the home visit that you need, CD. Let us know how you get on x

NorthernLurker · 18/02/2008 13:19

SS - you work for the NHS don't you? Do you mean the annual leave you've accrued whilst on m/l? Because if so - I thought you could count that - your return to work date is your return to work date - whether you are actually in the building or on annual leave - and you need to return for a minium of 12 weeks from that date. Or that's what I thought was the case anyway.....

NorthernLurker · 18/02/2008 13:24

yes I've just checked our maternity policy and all it says is that you must return to the employment of the Trust for at least 3 months - well if you're on annual leave, you are in employment.

Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 13:27

NL - yep 7 weeks of AL that I have accrued. The guidance is very wishy-washy and far too much discretion is left to managers meaning that there are subtle differences from trust-trust. I read my paperwork and it says that you have to be employed by the trust for 3 months after your maternity leave ends. I read that as 'employed' not 'working' and think that I should be expected to work for 6 weeks to give a total of 13 weeks=3months. Well, I think that I should be expected to work for 6 weeks if they pull their finger out and arrange that I do go back to work when my AL finishes otherwise I think that I shouldn't be penalised for their stupidly slow dealing with my case.

Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 13:27

x-posts!

Swaliswan · 18/02/2008 13:30

I'm mot sure how much energy I have to fight the NHS right now. I'm feeling so about it because DH said that he thinks that we could manage on the small number of hours that the pregnancy crisis centre are offering. Now I don't know what I'm supposed to do. It's driving me crazy. Lord, what job am I supposed to do?!
