A chance to potter in my ancient and tumbledown greenhouse. Tiny but life is busting out all over!

Any Witches Here?- Part 18
Craftycorvid · 27/03/2023 07:31

That is the epitome of life bursting forth, @Hedjwitch Looks like a well-tended greenhouse.

I’m suddenly noticing all the buds and blossoms on the trees, and it always does look very sudden - there seems to be no moment between bare branches and buds appearing no matter how much I keep track.

ISaySteadyOn · 27/03/2023 18:12

It's lovely and heartening though. That camellia of mine has had its first flower bloom. And the others are so ready to spring forth (sorry! 😉).

I am feeling like doing a major spring clean and I am wondering if there is a way to clean some of the negative energy out as well as the dust specially as there are two birthdays in April in this house.

speakout · 28/03/2023 07:02

I love your greenhouse Hedjwitch- looks like Gaia has made herself very comfortabe there.
ISaySteadyOn I need to think about spring cleaning too, do you do any cleansing rituals?
I like to use salt, water or saining ( like smudging).
It is cold and very wet today, I managed to get a lot of laundry washed and dried outside yesterday, which was lovely.

ISaySteadyOn · 28/03/2023 07:31

I am still so new to learning here. I don't know any cleansing rituals but I should like to.

Where do you start?

Craftycorvid · 28/03/2023 08:02

I’m sure some wise sisters have lots of ideas, @ISaySteadyOn but with a cleansing ritual, I’d go to what feels instinctively right for you. What makes you think of purity? New beginnings? Whatever your associations are, start there. When I emptied my late mum’s house, I visited a holy well in the area (one I went to with my parents as a child) and got some well water in a spray bottle, added good quality sea salt and spritzed the entrances and windows of the house whilst thinking about what the house has meant to me.

speakout · 28/03/2023 08:29

I agree Craftycorvid, whatever feels right to you.

There are lots of ideas if you google, words that come from your heart will always be right.
I have a small glass bowl that I use for consecration, home cleansing and purification before spell work.
I use salt water, dissolving salt with a small crystal wand, and whisper intentions as I stir- I like do that outside, it feels right for me.
I open windows then walk around the house sprinkling a few drops of water as I go, especially into corners and areas that feel stuck.
You can decant the water into a spray bottle, or make a smudging spray.
I will repeat a short phrase, and that will vary too, something like " cleanse and lift " or " love and bright", again what feels right for you.

There are many ways to cleannse- you can also use sound. I sometimes use Tingsha bells- a great find in my local charity shop, but you can clap, recite a mantra, sing, lots of ways to get stuck energy moving.

ISaySteadyOn · 28/03/2023 08:32

All great places to start. Thank you!

queenrollo · 28/03/2023 09:40

Lovely post there from Speakout about various ways to cleanse. I like to make my own smoke bundles from herbs in my garden and I will smoke the whole house at least once a year, usually after the Easter holidays. I like to clear out the stagnant energy from us being cooped up all winter, but I need to do it on a day when I am alone! Because I have made 'space' by moving the murky energy out I then bring in little jars of greenery from the garden as a way to fill that void with fresh new energy, or maybe place stones/crystals instead.

Then I will cleanse each individual room as I feel it needs it, usually with smoke but sometimes I also walk around with my singing bowl.
I think the intuition is key for me. I cleanse our front door/porch area more than any other space as it's the main space for movement of energy outside of the family. My back door opens out onto the garden and the movement of energy is very different there.

I've done my first proper laundry magic of the year too, on a very breezy day I washed our bedlinen and oh it smelled and felt so glorious!

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/03/2023 09:44

When things are really bad here i like to start with a good bashing together of pots. If it does nothing else it does relief some frustration. But it always feels like it lightens the air.

There are so many options and you do have to find what is good for you. With a no smell no candles house here I have to be a little more creative. But a good blast of music whilst i clean is surprisingly effective as a cleansing thing.

speakout · 28/03/2023 12:08

I love your ideas queenrollo.
I haven't tried the singing bowl cleansing- I was given two bowls for christmas and spent weeks practicing- have finally cracked it, so I will give them a go for cleansing.
I can picture you pot bashing HillsBesideTheSea a great and noisy way to clear energy and let off steam.
I often turn to noisy jobs when I am cross too, I have a large - usually messy- pot cupboard, it feels so releasing to tackle and let go of pressure.

Calling green and hedgewitches. I'm still learning and would welcome advice. I have had a nasty and painful boil in my pubic area. Probably infected follicle. Been treating with heat, slippery elm and tea tree. Now it has burst and bleeding, have covered with a yarrow and chamomile salve. Am I missing any tricks? I have Neem oil but my gut is telling me yarrow

Hedjwitch · 29/03/2023 19:27

Also...for those who sent healing and protection to my daughter. She has received an email today exonerating her of the accusations made against her by a malicious 3rd party. She is relieved.
I am.in vengeful mother mode and swear I will rip the miscreant behind it limb from fucking limb if I get my hands on her!!!

speakout · 30/03/2023 07:17

Good morning sisters.
Another wet day, overcast, but I still feel the hygge on days like this.
I am sleeping so deeply at the moment, and last night was no exception. Dreams were big, meaningful and lucid.
It's a busy day today, and I have an appointment for breast screening this afternoon. It's so convenient having the mobile service, its only a 5 minute drive. I assume the mobile service is available in most of the country?
Hedjwitch your boil sounds painful. I have had a few in the past, some can resolve quickly after popping, but if it is still causing problems or spreading I would see a gp- you may need antbiotics.
I love herbal or magical remedies, but never as a replacement for medical help.
I hope it improves soon.
Today’s Mars-Saturn trine favours discipline, moderation, tradition, and realism. This transit stimulates productivity, attention to traditional or tried and true methods, pacing ourselves, and temperance. We feel more directed and purposeful and tend to be thorough in our efforts.
However the tables turn this evening -Venus aligns with Uranus' encouraging us to let go of rigidity! The need to express ourselves freely and openly comes on strongly Whether we’re aware of it or not, we’re itching for a change! Connecting with this desire can help us steer and navigate better. For the time being, we value stimulation and newness over permanence. We lose our fear of taking risks in love, social situations, and with pleasure.
Have an enchanted day friends

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had attended a Cacao ceremony?
There is an event near me soon, I think maybe someone was discussing it on this thread a few months ago?

Hi all I hope you’re all doing well. I’m feeling a bit low today. We had our 12 week scan this week and all is brilliant with the baby, I’m so thankful and feel really blessed. We’ve told our family and everyone’s very excited, except MIL. We told the PIL today and the first thing she said was that she hoped it wasn’t another boy. It’s really hurt me and DH, as he’s one of two boys. I told her we’re happy with whatever we have, but she’s just put a bit of a dampener on our happy news. I know I’ll get over it soon, and the pregnancy hormones don’t help, but I just feel so flat since she said that. I’m going to have a bath in the candlelight when DS goes to bed and see if that lifts me. I will try and catch up with all the posts at some point too. I hope everyone is doing well and sorry for my gloomy post.

IconicKitty · 30/03/2023 20:54

That doesn't sound very nice @MoonWitchMom , is she one of those people who generally speaks without thinking? Or was it her strange idea of a joke? Hopefully she feels silly about it now and will apologise.

speakout · 30/03/2023 20:56

MoonWitchMom I am sorry to hear you are feeling low.
Some people are experts at saying the wrong thing, finding bad in good situations, being insensitive. My mother always says things like that.

You are making a new life, and that is amazing, exciting, and a very precious time.
I really don't know why people get so worked up about the sex of a baby.
It will be a beautiful baby, will arrive safely.
To me the sex of a baby is not an issue, it's a bit like attaching importance to the colour of a baby's hair.

Children have their own personalities, most of it is not sex related.
My son was the cuddly one, my daughter was the adventurer.

I hope you enjoy your candlelit bath and have a restorative night.

I’m not sure to be honest. DH doesn’t have the best relationship with her. She always wanted a daughter but had two sons, so I think her comments stem from that. I think she believes that daughters will always be closer to their mothers, but if she had treated her boys differently then they’d be just as close to her as daughters would be. Hopefully she apologises, I’m trying to put it to the back of my mind and focus on creating new life.

I completely agree with you. I have never cared what the sex of my baby is. I’m happy to bring new life into the world, male or female. This will be my last baby, I’ll be overjoyed either way. It hurts me more that she’d say something like that in front of DH, who’s her second son. It’s just cruel to speak of your own child like that. I will put it to the back of my mind and focus on the happiness we are feeling. A healthy baby is one of the greatest blessings and I feel so very lucky.

freckles20 · 30/03/2023 22:32

@MoonWitchMom that was a really unkind and thoughtless comment from MIL. It is no wonder that you're feeling hurt and confused by her attitude.

There was a thread on mumsnet recently which I found helpful and as a daughter of a mum who is prone to saying thoughtless things. Here is a link incase you might find it helpful: Argumentative mother - find it awkward to be around her www.mumsnet.com/Talk/elderly_parents/4745439-argumentative-mother-find-it-awkward-to-be-around-her

HazelTheGreenWitch · 31/03/2023 06:41

@MoonWitchMom She does sound like she hasn't 'employed her filter' as my DH and I would say. We have a similar problem sometimes with a relative and we found it helps to think of our little family as a team. When someone says something unfair or ill thought out, we remind each other that we're a little team and we will always support each other. Makes the insensitive person seem more distant somehow, and have less power over our feelings. It's not easy when you're pregnant but in another way, you now have more license to speak up and stand your ground... you are growing a tiny brand new human after all! And that should command respect.

VioletCharlotte · 31/03/2023 07:24

Moonwitchmum sorry that a day that should have been happy was turned sour by a thoughtless comment. Some people just don't think about the impact of their words on others. I can remember my ex mil saying to me when I was pregnant and considering childcare options "well, I think it's best for the baby to be looked after by their mother. None of mine went to nursery". I had no choice! I hope you're ok now. I've got two boys and it's lovely!

Speakout I've been to a few cacao ceremonies, they're great! Cacao is a gentle heart opener that makes you feel relaxed, happy and open. The ones I've been to have included a sharing circle, guided meditation, kirtan and ecstatic dance!

If, like me, you're prone to headaches, I would start with a small amount and see how you get on, as cacao contains a lot of caffeine. Also, if you're on any medication, let the ceremony leader know, as it does interact with certain things. I hope you have a great time! I've not been to a ceremony for a while, the ones I go to are held outside, so should start up again in the next month or so when the weather gets warmer I hope.

Craftycorvid · 31/03/2023 08:35

Good morning, all! Feeling my usual springtime fatigue - an acupuncturist friend was saying that it is common for people to find springtime tiring due to the change of energy from latency to growth. I’m balancing work and self-care today (if I can manage to). The apple tree in the garden is alive with new green leaves and the wheel of the year is well and truly turning!

Hedjwitch · 31/03/2023 09:12

Thats interesting Corvid. I feel very tired and low and just not myself at all. Its partly the fibro I know, but just not mentally or physically happy at the moment. I have a whole weeknoff eork now though so hopefully that will recharge the energies
