My children love peas as well. A wigwam of peas has been on my to-grow list for ages but I’ve yet to get around to it! I’m at the allotment today - some nice veg to harvest but the earth is so hard and dry.

@speakout I’ve been trying to remember where I got my first Tarot cards. I think it must have been a small bookshop that had a shelf of a few different decks about 27 years ago. It’s still my go-to deck for most readings. It felt such a ‘naughty’ thing to be buying Tarot cards and I’d heard the rumour you shouldn’t buy them for yourself (now I know that’s rubbish but I didn’t then!) but I knew if I didn’t buy them for myself no one else would!

The new deck has arrived and I’m going to have a good look through it tonight!

speakout · 06/08/2022 13:06

Trenzalor yes I have heard that about Tarot cards too, another " rule" that can be easily ignored. I have bought most of my decks myself too, I remember feeling very daring when I bought my first deck.
Just back from a Body Balance class, with a trip to Lidl- their Greek and Spanish weeks seem to have collided, shelves groaning with lots of Mediterranean produce. I love Greek olive oil, my favourite, I bought olives, honey and baklava.
Home now for a rest with a coffee before I start some work.

Managed an hour up my allotment today with ds2 in amongst holiday prep. Lots of weeding happening but also managed to pull some courgettes, apples, potatoes and beetroot.
This little guy was chilling on my rhubarb and the sun was shining.

hilariousnamehere · 06/08/2022 20:08

Ooh Greek olive oil and fresh bread is one of my favourite treats @speakout - I might have to nip to Lidl tomorrow :)

And peas! All the talk of peas has made me wonder if I could make space in my little garden...

I have also heard and always ignored the rule that you shouldn't buy your own tarot cards - how else would you get the ones that really call to you?!

@GaeasDaughter apparently August is the best month for feathers in the UK as most birds moult - and I love sorting and identifying them as much as collecting them! Hope you and your DD get a chance to try :)

@Retsina24 and @Fashiontatts it's lovely to have you both - I always love reading about new people's paths and perspectives and experiences, and this is such a special corner of the internet.

@Fashiontatts holding all the good energy vibes and sending them your way!

I've had a really productive day at last, a long feather hunting walk in the sunshine for a screen break and am now considering dinner before finishing off the last deadline bits. Got a couple of days of helping Mum and then hopefully a few days of proper rest with no commitments except chauffeuring visiting family around and chucking stuff in my skip. Much household magic awaits in the rest of August, I think!

Enjoying the light streaming in the window in the evenings - all too soon it'll be dark in the evenings again, and while I love the cooler months, I really do appreciate the long days of summer.

Have a lovely evening sisters x

Fashiontatts · 06/08/2022 20:29

Sounds a good Saturday @speakout , I used to love a body balance class but don't get much opportunity these days unfortunately. Good old Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube is the most I can squeeze in these days 😂

An allotment sounds lovely @Retsina24 ! I've never grown much apart from herbs but I've managed to have some success with tomato plants this year, first time I attempted them. My mum always managed to grow everything and anything in pots - I should try to channel her green thumb a little more.

Thanks for the good vibes @hilariousnamehere much appreciated! ✨
Glad to hear you had a productive day, I love that accomplished feeling it brings... And I know what you mean about the light nights... shame to see them go but at the same time I love a cosy autumn evening!

Well, my day didn't go to plan at all! My guests had to cancel last minute, and I never managed to get any yoga done, but I did go for a lovely woodland walk with my little people so that was fab... and my little girl brought home an impressive stick and some stones she liked... like mother, like daughter clearly!

Hope everyone has a good evening! 🙂

hilariousnamehere · 06/08/2022 21:25

Sticks, stones, feathers, leaves, acorns... all the treasures of a woodland walk that most people just don't see! 🍃🍄🌰oooh there's a conker emoji!!

Retsina24 · 06/08/2022 21:41

Thank you @hilariousnamehere .
Feather hunting in the sunshine sounds lovely.

@Fashiontatts we've had our allotment 1 Yr and previously I wasn't a gardener at all. I've found that I love my allotment even though there's a long way to go to tame it. It's my happy place.

I'm chilling now with crochet and a witchy podcast. Quite lighthearted but I'm enjoying.

Fashiontatts · 06/08/2022 22:01

So true @hilariousnamehere ! We're lucky to live in a green belt area so lots of nice walks nearby and always something new to discover and admire! I love woods but I would also love one day to live beside the water... although my husband has to take a boat out to work every shift so he doesn't share my enthusiasm for the sea quite the same these days!

That's so good @Retsina24 , I love that it's your happy place. So important to have that place of sanctuary! And amazing what can change in a year, so who knows what you'll be accomplishing in the next year! 🙂 I think allotments are marvellous things.

Well I'm off to bed, had a ridiculously early start this morning and need some recharge! Good night all ✨

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/08/2022 02:19

I grow my peas in a pot. I can get about 5 plants per foot square pot. You need to stay on top of watering and feeding, and grow far better if you actually tie them up on a cane/structure. But totally doable, and I would recommend it to anyone with a sunny spot.

Took a long walk in the hills tonight, it was dark when we got back to the cars and I was distracted watching the moon set and all the stars. Was a very pretty night and I was reluctant to leave the hills. The road home treated me to a young hare, and a number of badgers. And yet again I am feeling incredibly spoilt by where i live.

hilariousnamehere · 07/08/2022 02:29

Oh @HillsBesideTheSea your descriptions of your hill walks make my heart happy 💙

And you've given me hope - my garden is very sunny and almost all pots, though I am terrible at consistent watering - but will see what I can plot for next year, I'd love peas and strawberries of my own, and remember both as a child though clearly I did none of the work for those 😂

Fashiontatts · 07/08/2022 08:48

Ahh that sounds incredible @HillsBesideTheSea it's been a long time since I've seen that time of night, apart from up doing night feeds!

@hilariousnamehere I am the same with watering pots... I might join you in trying some next year tho!

I got up this morning to find my roses had opened up and the most beautiful start to the day! 🤍

Any Witches Here?- Part 17.
HillsBesideTheSea · 07/08/2022 10:47

@hilariousnamehere we have a small garden here, of which 80% is over 75% shade so pretty much everything gets grown in pots on the patio. You can even grow cabbage and cauliflower in pots but they are very heavy feeders and won't produced if you don't feed. Potatoes do well in pots and I have even grown carrots in pots but you do need a deep pot to accommodate their long tap root. So it is definitely possible. An allotment space is full of possibilities. I am on the waiting list for a local plot.

The hill walks do soothe my soul delightfully. My walking buddy has a week off and want a long daytime walk at some point this week so we are coordinating calendars to make that happen. Last time it was over a 5hr most of the day walk that was totally exhausting but amazing views and calming influence. It will be delightful break in the middle of exam prep.

VioletCharlotte · 07/08/2022 10:57

Hills your walk sounds fabulous, nourishment for the soul. And how amazing to see hares and badgers. I went for a late dog walk last night and saw a hedgehog. The waning moon was beautiful.

So much positive energy radiating from the thread, I'm enjoying reading about how everyone's enjoying the summer and making the most of getting out and about in nature. It's still very hot here in the south, with temperatures hitting the high twenties most days, which looks set to continue into next week. I've adapted to it now and it feels like being on holiday, although we desperately need some rain as the rivers are very low.

I'm going paddle boarding today at a nearby lake. SUP is one of my favourite things to do in the summer, it's so relaxing (although I didn't enjoy it so much when I did in the sea and fell in!)

Blessings to you all for a relaxing Sunday.

speakout · 08/08/2022 07:20

Good morning enchanted ones.
How lovely to come back to this thread and read about growing ( Beautiful rose pic Fashiontatts, thanks for sharing) , hill walks, paddleboarding, crochet, hares badgers and hedgehogs.

How amazing to have an allotment Retsina24 growing your own food is so special isn't it.
I don't have the space or time to grow much, my garden is small, and no beds as such. Previous occupier covered a lot of the garden with a thick layer of gravel and a small lawn. Lifting the gravel to grow is too big a task, and the lawn is small, only big enough for laundry and a table. It is sad to see the gravel, especially as the soil underneath is very rich. My house is built on grounds used for centuries as a kitchen/market garden for a monastery over the road. So the monks would have tended the soil well.
I have "spot planted" lots of shrubs, climbers and trees, including fruit, and they are growing really well. My garden is very lush and vibrant, thanks to the soil no doubt- the other upside as that I don't have to do much weeding.
I went for a walk too yesterday, exploring some new woods wildlife will thrive when allowed to, so heartening to see so many creatures.
A cool morning here again, 13 degrees, just finishing my coffee before launching the day. A yoga class in the next village at 9, then work/housework.
Lots of laundry, which is not a chore for me,
My mother is hosting a bible study group this afternoon. I don’t mind making
drinks and snacks for them, but I
make small talk only!
Have a great start to a new week sisters!

Morning everyone 🙂
@HillsBesideTheSea that walking sounds great and at a great time for you... walking is def medicine. I hope you can get your schedules synced to make it happen.

Ohh paddle boarding sounds so much fun @VioletCharlotte! What an interesting hobby!! Glad to hear you've adjusted to the heat, I only experienced a few days of really warm weather (we're in the North) and even that I struggled with... we spent an awful lot of time inside a cool room or in a cool paddling pool in the shade!

Our garden is v much the same @speakout, mostly gravel! But we do have a beautiful old blossom tree in the front garden and a selection of trees/shrubs in the back garden - including a Japanese maple acer which I adore! The colours are fantastic. Luckily my herbs can thrive in pots with v little tending, and my tomato plant is doing ok in its pot on the decking 🤣

I've a busy day ahead, fuelled my plenty coffee after a v restless night. I do however have some natural cotton cord and a fab stick we found in the woods, so tonight I'm going to attempt to make my own macrame hanging, time permitting!

Hope everyone has a good start to the week! ✨

speakout · 11/08/2022 06:43

Another hot spell magical friends, I hope not too much of a struggle for those that are pregnant or find the heat hard.
Fashiontatts I have an acer in my back garden too, technically in my neighbour's garden, but mostly leans over the fence into my place- and that's OK, it is very beautiful, a deep vibrant red.
I came across this song, I love the message.

OP posts:
TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 11/08/2022 10:34

@speakout I have an acer in my garden too, my gran planted it. I enjoy it every day when I look out the window whilst doing the washing up.

Fashiontatts · 11/08/2022 11:59

Hi all! ✨

Hope everyone has had a good start to their week... mine has flown by! I had a fab day at the beach the other day with the kids... some sea air and looking for shells was just what I needed!
Today so far has been mostly making granola (my current culinary obsession!), hanging out washings and drinking iced coffees!

Trenzalor · 11/08/2022 13:13

Oh my gosh I’m so hot! My car is in the garage so the children and I had to walk to allotment and back - it’s 31 degrees!

Thursday today and we’re almost as full as a moon can grow so I’m going to redo my money bowl today. I’m going to put more intention in and make sure to interact with it rather than leaving it be.

Other than that, it’ll be a try to stay cool day!

Fashiontatts · 11/08/2022 13:39

Oh @Trenzalor that is hot hot...! Hopefully you guys can stay cool indoors for a bit. It's about 27 here just now and I'm indoors with a cold drink.

I have my crystals lined up ready to go out for the full moon for a cleanse and charge...
I do hope your money bowl brings you some prosperity, I've never done anything like that before but the idea of using the moon really resonates with me!

speakout · 11/08/2022 14:17

Warm here too, I have no air con in my car- that seems the hottest place.
Just have a rest and cool down after braving the supermarket, just have to put all the shopping away ( not my favourite job!).
I love doing laundry in this weather, everything dries so quickly.
I am, looking forward to the full moon too, I feel energies are high for a couple of days surrounding the event.
I have a woman's full moon circle tomorrow evening, so I look forward to that.

OP posts:
TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 11/08/2022 14:25

@Trenzalor please can I know more about your money bowl. It sounds like something I need. My car engine blew up yesterday and I've just started maternity leave 😣 many tears were shed yesterday.

VioletCharlotte · 11/08/2022 15:23

32 here. I'm indoors with the curtains closed and fan on but still melting.

I'm finding it difficult to focus on work. DS1 has some mental health issues and things blew up last night. Emotions have been running high and I'm tired as didn't get much sleep. He's gone out for a bit so I'm making the most of the peace and quiet. I love him so much, but he can be such hard work.

I can feel the full moon energies building. I'm going to harness some of this energy to do some cleaning and releasing and shift some of the negative energy that's lingering.

Trenzalor good luck with your money bowl. I've done similar in the past and it was very effective and immediate, although not quite in the way I expected!

Speakout I'm so glad you're going to the full moon circle, do let us know how it goes!

Fashiontatts your day at the beach sounds lovely, I would love to be in the cool sea right now. Would you mind sharing your homemade granola recipe? I love granola and always think I should make my own but never seem to get round to it.

FannieAnne · 11/08/2022 15:46

Hello @speakout & everyone, I wondered if I could ask you lovelies something please.

My friend has a big birthday coming up, she loves many things about witchcraft/paganism/wiccan and hallowe'en etc. She likes journaling so I was looking at this journal.
Would any of you have a look at this witchy/hallowe'en junk journal and tell me what you think please? Does it appeal to any of you?
Hope you don't mind me hopping in here to ask . Thank you. 😊

www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1265456216/

Trenzalor · 11/08/2022 15:58

@FannieAnne inwould find that journal too ‘daffy’ for me but you know your friend so it may suit her perfectly!

sorry to hear that @VioletCharlotte - I hope the full moon brings new energy.

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher I’m going to place rice at the bottom and add things like cinnamon sticks, bay leaves (probably with a sigil), money and crystals. I’m going to anoint a green candle and light it with intent. I will also write my first petition or manifestation and add it. Then I aim to add or take away from it every Thursday.
