FannieAnne the journal looks interesting, and I can see a lot of work has gone into it.
It isn't personally to my taste, but you now your friend and what she may like.

OP posts:
FannieAnne · 11/08/2022 16:16

@Trenzalor - (great name 😀 ) & @speakout
Thank you both for replying. Actually 'daffy' is a good description of my lovely friend 😂

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 11/08/2022 16:19

Trenzalor · 11/08/2022 15:58

@FannieAnne inwould find that journal too ‘daffy’ for me but you know your friend so it may suit her perfectly!

sorry to hear that @VioletCharlotte - I hope the full moon brings new energy.

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher I’m going to place rice at the bottom and add things like cinnamon sticks, bay leaves (probably with a sigil), money and crystals. I’m going to anoint a green candle and light it with intent. I will also write my first petition or manifestation and add it. Then I aim to add or take away from it every Thursday.

Thank you for sharing. Do you have to use a green candle? I'm thinking I can make something similar but give it a little tweak. I can imagine the bay leaves abs cinnamon sticks will make it smell lovely!

Trenzalor · 11/08/2022 16:54

No. A white candle can stand for any; or silver, yellow or gold would also work.

Typo - I meant to say faffy! But the universe clearly went for daffy!

Fashiontatts · 11/08/2022 17:12

@speakout the full moon circle sounds incredible... please let us know how you find it.

Ohh what a shame @TurquoiseDreamCatcher I hope you can have some success with a money bowl too, maternity leave isn't a time you want uncertainty or big bills!!

Sure @VioletCharlotte I've been messing around with it a little, swapping oils and amounts a bit depending on what fruit/seeds/nuts I'm adding but roughly I use:

50ml of oil (sunflower or coconut is my preference),
75ml honey/maple syrup/agave nectar - whichever you prefer or suits your diet (or whatever I've got in the cupboard!)
Teaspoon or 2 of vanilla extract
Sometimes add a tablespoon or 2 of melted nut butter, almond, cashew or peanut

Mix those together in a bowl, then add dry ingredients;

300-400g oats
100-150g of seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame etc)
0.5 teaspoon salt - REALLY makes a difference
0.5 teaspoon of ginger
0.5 teaspoon of cinnamon
100g of dried fruit
75g flaked almonds or chopped nuts

Just mix it all so it's really evenly coated, then spread it across two baking trays and bake on 160/180 for 25-30mins. (Really press the mixture into the tins with a spoon back if you like clumpy granola as that helps them to form!)
Swap trays round in the oven halfway through time and give the granola a wee poke about to break it up slightly. (If I'm using dried cranberries, I tend to add them at the end of baking once I'm breaking it up as they go a bit too chewy! But you can add whatever you like - nuts, seeds, fruit... the worlds your oyster! 🙂
Dried apricots and desiccated coconut was nice too for a change..!)

Ellami · 11/08/2022 22:17

I've had a lovely little while reading through all of the previous posts. I can't remember who said it, but I agree that this is such a lovely corner of the internet and so welcoming. I hope you are all surviving the heat as comfortably as possible.
I've had a busy couple of weeks, but managed to take myself to a gem, rock and crystal fair for the first time ever. While I'm not necessarily into (or even understand) the power of crystals, I do like to have some as a connection to the beauty of mother nature. I'm very attracted to pink quartz and smokey quartz. Not sure what that means.
I also treated myself to a lovely full moon bath ritual tonight and as everyone is out of the house until later, so have had the most wonderful and restorative candlelit bath. I'm hoping to find ideas for more rituals. I wish there was a full moon circle near me!

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/08/2022 09:12

Hope that the full moon circle is everything that you want it to be speakout

I spent yesterday wandering very slowly around a forest. As there was a slight breeze it made for a very pleasant day. There are plans to watch the meteor shower on a hill tonight. Which will probably be a relief after the heat.

But first work.

EmmaH2022 · 12/08/2022 21:19

Loving the money bowl.

I had plans for a full moon ritual. Sadly the flat is 30c WITH the air con unit trying to power through it. I think we hit 37 in my area today. So all I have is a cracking headache.

early bed and and early start to get some stuff done before the heat knocks me out. Such a shame.

I wasn't here a few days so couldn't prep anything but did at least have a hotel with gentle air con pitched just right.

hilariousnamehere · 12/08/2022 23:52

I'm looking forward to hearing about your full moon circle @speakout!

@HillsBesideTheSea did you see the meteor shower? I spent some time in the woods today but tonight couldn't see anything in the sky apart from the moon and the ridiculously bright light from the house behind mine, sadly :(

Full moon energy means I am chucking stuff into my skip delightedly between cold showers 😂 am a bit alarmed at how fast it's filling up but hoping this burst of determination will stay with me for a bit - I've been living in chaos for far too long.

And I've not come across a money bowl before but thank you for sharing @Trenzalor - am very intrigued.

@Ellami welcome, and that was possibly me (and also possibly others!). I am very sappy about the places online where I feel a real sense of kinship or belonging, because I've been on various forums and internet corners for too many years and it's so rare to find one as welcoming and interesting as this one, even though we are all so different.

I am mostly ferrying lovely visiting family around this week and listening to tales of my ancestors all over the world, which is rather wonderful - and would be more so if I was sleeping better! It is toooooo hot in my room, but having found a monster sized spider by my front door earlier, there's no way I'm risking sleeping on the living room floor either 😂

Full moon blessings, loves x

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/08/2022 01:20

I did get to see some. Not as many as would as liked as we hiked to top a hill to watch and it was blowing a hoolie up there (bits of trees down all over the place on the way home) But the moon was super pretty and there were some very bright meteors to be seen. Not going to stay up to the peak to see more though.

It was a lovely evening although slightly affected by my current level of broken and burnout. Which left me suffering with some dizzyness and urgh to deal with. Frustratingly I can't drive atm as a result and am reliant on other people way to much which is a whole heap of frustration.

EmmaH2022 · 13/08/2022 01:24

hills sorry you’re feeling rough

sounds like you got some good sightings!

I’m jealous of anyone in a place blowing a hoolie right now. Early night not going well…

Trenzalor · 13/08/2022 09:14

I’m going to attempt to help my money bowl today by uploading a book to Amazon KDP. I’m going to make it a Kindle Select option which I’ve not done before. I’m hoping it will generate more reads. I have a couple of books I can add if it goes well. I have sent them to literary agents and they got some good feedback but it’s so hard (in my experience) to crack the shell of mainstream publishing. I can’t leave the money bowl to do all the work!

Elphame · 13/08/2022 10:24

Serious frustration here! I got a new book on chaos magic yesterday, read the intro and turned to the first exercise.

OK - apparently I have to be familiar with "The Glass Bead Game" for it to make any sense. Google tells me it's a novel. I now need to read that before progressing any further. It had better be worth it!

On the gardening side, my poor old Bramley is groaning under the weight of the crop. I've propped up several of the branches to stop them snapping (the tree is ancient and mostly hollow) and this morning's task is to make chilli jelly from some of the fallers.

The Angel Trumpets are loving the heat but everything else looks a bit sad. We don't have any water restrictions and none are planned but even so we are using as little water as possible. The water from the dogs'paddling pool is recycled to water the pots every evening. It's so lovely to be able to sit outside late into the night enjoying the perfume from the Angel Trumpets and watching the bats circling overhead. I am not looking forward to the winter this year at all. I doubt we can afford to heat the house as much as usual (bills were over £4000 before the price rises) so I'm making the most of it. I do not like being cold.

VioletCharlotte · 13/08/2022 10:30

Trenzalor how exciting, I didn't know you were a writer. I would love to know more about your book if you feel comfortable sharing.
*
EmmaH2022* I hope you managed to get some sleep. Do you have a fan? I find having a cool shower before bed, using a fan and sleeping with the windows and curtains open helps (I sleep with an eye mask to block out the light) I think we've got a couple more days of this before cooler temperatures next week.

Hills sorry you're feeling so unwell, I hope you're able to get some rest over the weekend.

Hilarious I had a humongous spider this week too. I can cope with them ok and cat h them and take them outside, but they still make me jump!

I've got no real plans for this weekend and looking forward to taking it easy. I'm sitting in the garden at the moment while it's still cool enough, it'll be like a furnace this afternoon when the sun comes round. I've got a Pilates class booked for 12 which will be nice as the studio has air conditioning.

Trenzalor · 13/08/2022 11:37

@VioletCharlotte this one is a crime/thriller but historical fiction is usually more my thing. It involves a mass hostage situation and is told from different characters’ POVs.

VioletCharlotte · 13/08/2022 12:41

Trenzalor I love a good crime thriller! Please pm me the details if you don't mind, I'm always in the look out for a good read 😊

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 13/08/2022 16:07

@Trenzalor I am also interested in your books and would be happy to have a DM if you are happy to share.

8 months pregnant and this heatwave are not a good combination also combined with gestational diabetes so icecream is limited 🥵

I've been weaving my magic into the limited activities that I've been able to do such as preparing the nursery. I know she won't be using it for a while but the intent to keep her feeling loved and secure is there.

speakout · 13/08/2022 16:32

Thanks for the granola recipe Fashiontatts, it sound delicious. I have thought about making my own- I will give it a try.
Trenzalor how wonderful to have an author amongst us!
Elphame I am dreading the winter bills too, I have a large house with lots of glass, an elderly mother that feels the cold, and working from home means PCs running too.
TurquoiseDreamCatcher can you eat bananas? I make ice cream using frozen banana and pure cocoa powder in the blender, it is pretty good and hits the cold and chocolate spot.

My woman's circle was amazing. It lasted over 3 hours, deep in the countryside.
The group was led by a South American Shaman, the ceremony touched everyone deeply, beautiful ritual, sage smoke, drumming, chanting, we were taken on a healing journey using spirit animals, ancestor work, some past life work.
Many tears flowed but the evening was very healing, very powerful.
I still feel the effects today, feeling very calm and grounded but very tired- even though I slept like a log last night.

OP posts:
TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 13/08/2022 16:55

@speakout I used to make the banana and cocoa icecream when DD was smaller and had a milk allergy. Unfortunately, it's forbidden on the gestational diabetes diet. I must make it again though for DD as even though she is ok with milk now, I always thought it was a healthier option.

queenrollo · 13/08/2022 18:37

I've just caught up with everything you posted while I was away. We had a glorious holiday. Just the right combination of doing things and not doing things!
On the first evening, after a long and stressful drive down there, we headed to the beach and within minutes I had found a piece of sea pottery, a wonderful hagstone and my first ever sea-glass bottle stopper! We spent some time at one beach or another every single day and I brought lots of sea glass home. It was so lovely to have a common interest with my 9 year old, we walked the shoreline for hours together chatting and just really enjoying each others company.

A quicker trip home today but still a long day - we left our holiday accomodation at 9am and walked through our own front door at 4pm. DH went straight to bed, neither of us slept well last night and he did all the driving. I am tired but find it easier to power through to a proper bedtime than he does.

VioletCharlotte · 14/08/2022 11:20

Fashiontatts thank you for the granola recipe, I've just been to Asda and picked up some ingredients to make some later (if I can bear to switch the oven on!)

Speakout I'm so glad I enjoyed the full moon womens circle, sounds fabulous. I find im floating in air for a few days after I've been to one. There's something so empowering about being with a group of like minded women (a bit like this thread really). I also loved the feeling of being free to be myself and not having to be responsible for anyone else for a few hours.

Queenrollo sounds like you had a wonderful holiday and brought home some precious treasures from the beach, as well as special memories. I'm desperate to get to the coast but just can't face the traffic during the school holidays. I've got a week off in September so hope to be able to get down there for a couple of days.

I think today is meant to be the last day of the heatwave, although next week still looks pretty warm and no rain in sight. I've been picking blackberries this morning, there's so many this year, really big and juicy, despite the lack of rain. I'll freeze them, ready to make crumble in the autumn.

Elphame · 14/08/2022 13:19

@queenrollo I need to go and pick blackberries too. The trees are loaded with apples this year and I have crumble on my mind as well.

speakout · 14/08/2022 15:42

Glad you had a good trip queenrollo, beach treasure is the best!
I love the sound of these crumbles, I love them.
Our brambles are a little later here in the north, so not quite there yet.
And still pretty warm too, so still have a midset of iced drinks and sorbets.
We have a forcast of thunder storms later today, as a cold front barrels into the North of the UK hitting warm air.
I will withold my exctement until I have feel the spidey crackle- the last couple of predicted electrical storms have not delivered.
I have been looking after a 12 week old kitten this weekend, I had forgotten how fast and squiggely little ones can be, he darts through open doors, and keen to get into the garden, but I daren't risk losing him in the woods. I normally have all doors and windows open during warm weather, so is a little warm here.

OP posts:
VioletCharlotte · 14/08/2022 16:05

Oh how lovey Speakout sounds adorable, bet you won't want to give him back! Thunderstorms are forecast here too, but not until Tuesday... I can feel the humidity building, it's not pleasant! Fingers crossed for rain, thunder and lightening!

I made my granola and it's delicious! Thanks again for the recipe Fashiotatts
I had some for lunch with blackberries and a dollop of coconut yogurt.

speakout · 14/08/2022 18:18

So exciting- thunderstorm has arrived. Torrential rain booming thunder, huge flashes of lightning.
