DO - I'm just worried as its an action holiday I'm trying hard not to think about what they will be doing, he'll have a fab time, just hope they keep in mind his lack of spatial awareness and lack of organisational skills. Plus he is in a new school with no new friends yet! only been there 1 month, ds's bullies in same class only 1 class going at a time!

Have informed school of anxieties, they have been lovely, have changed ds dormitory to not include bullies, they wern't aware ds had been bullied at last school info not passed on!

Sorry will stop fretting and go out in fresh air on this beautiful sunny warm day with twins!

podglet · 05/10/2007 14:22

Hi all,

Hope DS1 has a fab time Suzi and that you don't worry too much (yeah right!) I am sure God will look after him and hold him safe.

CD - glad DD1 is ok, if a little itchy and sore. Hurrah for the other dd's being good girls too!

Mary - check you out! Can I have an autograph please?

BIG prayer request please. My close friend's DS2 has Aspergers (he is 5 btw) he has been having problems with his temper at school and his school aren't dealing with him well and he was suspended yesterday because of his violent behaviour and tantrums. My friend is beside herslef. Please pray for the school to have understanding and for them to find a solution to the problem. Thank you...

Hope you all have lovely weeknds. I am off to the south coast with DS and my mum to stary in my grans bungalow before it is sold. It was built by my great grandfather so will be really sad to lose it from the family, we have all grown up there

DutchOma · 05/10/2007 17:11

Podglet, will gladly pray for your friend's ds and his Aspergers. There seems so much of it about.
I know what you mean about losing a house you were all brought up in. I still dream of the house in Holland where I lived all my childhood. Hope you have a fabulous time.

Suzy, we did think the message might not have been passed on from the last school, glad that they are now aware and that you feel happier about it.

notsofarnow · 05/10/2007 17:37

Please pray xh takes two youngest dc to his house tomorrow night - have asked him but he doesn't seem to want to, no reasons just totally non commital about whether he is or not.

DD 1 is going on work experience tomorrow to South Wales please pray that she is ok tomorrow as i'm going to have to drop her off at the station at 7.15 and he train isn't until 8.20a.m. I know she's sensible but its a long time to be on your own on a station, please pray she has a really good fortnite and that her knee doesn't give her too much trouble.

I'm sooooo tired and fed up of the lo's whinging constantly Iknow its Friday and they've done a full week in school but!

Roseylea · 05/10/2007 19:24

Know what you mean about grumpy dc, NSFN. Ds was howling / tantruming this pm before bed, so I whisked him upstairs and calmed him down by telling him a made-up story. After we had prayed he said something really sweet - "Mummy, does Jesus still love me even when I'm crying?" Awwwwwwwwwwww! Cute!

bobsmum · 05/10/2007 19:35

Hurrah! Half term up here - a week off school! Can't wait to have ds all to myself.

Please pary about his behaviour at school. The head is finding tracking down an Ed Psych for him nigh on impossible and the staff are struggling a little to deal with his behaviour without professional advice. The Ed Pscyh he was seeing was part of the early years dept and not attached to primary ed.

We had a parent's evening last week and most sentences started with "he's very bright but...."

Dh and I recognised every aspect of his behaviour as it was described, but we're very firm with him and he's usually fine with us. It's only when he's around other people (non-family) that he feels he needs to transform into an attention-seeking stroppy teenager (he's 5).

I'm just very concerned that his disruptiveness will affect his learning (and that of his peers).

Anyway, a week at home will be a good chance to work on some positive parenting strategies methinks

notsofarnow · 05/10/2007 19:36

aww roseylea I doubt they got prayers tonigth as x put them to bed but what was quite interesting is that while bathing them dd1 had left music folder on bedroom floor and he was singing all the songs he used to sing. So praying those words will have made an impact.

MaryBS · 06/10/2007 08:11

Off to Bristol Cathedral today, for the licensing of my friend K (she is being licensed as a Lay Minister or Reader). Please keep her in your prayers as she officially starts this most important of ministries.. better sign off as I'v got to go and get ready - its a bit of a driv from here!

PandaG · 06/10/2007 18:43

Very quiet here today, hope we've all been enjoying our Saturdays!

Hope the licensing was good Mary

NSFN - how is it going? have you heard from DD? Praying that the words your exH were singing will mean something to him again...

DO - how are you feeling?

CD, how is DD1 today?

I'm going stir crazy, been in all day with DD. I've scaled the ironing mountain, and guessed whodunnit on Junior Cluedo. Got a badge to sew on DS's unifrom before beaver parade tomorrow!

love and prayers to you all.

DutchOma · 06/10/2007 20:07

Goodness yes, it is quiet on here. I'm fine, helped out at a Traidcraft coffeemorning at church, sold nearly £200 worth of stuff, even though not very many people came.
Still coughing.
Hope everyone is happily busy. Going to do some knitting now. I keep listing stuff on Etsy but nobody has bought anything.
If you want to have a look it is here.
I think it is a bit sad that it is all in dollars, maybe that puts people off, although Gingermoneky says she has sold loads of stuff.

notsofarnow · 06/10/2007 20:27

Hi dropped dd at station and two mins before train was due they made announcement that train to be from other side of station. She needed the life because of her crutches and nearly missed the train because she didn't know where lift was but nice guard found her and took her case (weighed a ton)so she's arrived safely.

xh didn't take the dc said his chest was too bad and yes it was bad but if he hadn't of said at the begining of hols that he wasn't going to stay anymore then I wouldn't have got the dog. grrrrrr

CaptainDippy · 06/10/2007 20:53

Roseylea · 07/10/2007 09:37

Helloooooooooooooo all!

DO I haven't heard of Etsy before. What is it? (I followed your link but you have to register to see anything.)

Hi CD! Well done on your NCT buys. Was there a stampede when the doors opened?

Hi Panda - I'm not very good at being indoors all day either.

Ooooh how was the licensing, Mary? That will be you soon...! (Can we all come to yours?)

We are having a very family weekend! Spent yesterday with the ILs, last night with my parents and the brother at a pub quiz (galling - he got far more answers right than I did!) and today we are having a big get-together with extended tribe, including some who don't live in the UK and whom I haven't seen for 2 years! Lovely! I'm really looking forward to it!

Have a lovely Sunday!

DutchOma · 07/10/2007 10:52

Etsy is an American site for all things handmade. You can look at it without being registered, just go to etsy.com and search either for Shetland or zacsoma, should get you there.
Hope everybody is alright, I take it the nappies didn't arrive because of the postal strike? I was a bit later than I had hoped to get them away, but the lady at the post office said that they should still get there with a first class stamp.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 07/10/2007 12:12

well 2 pieces of goodnews from me.

firstly my Grandad - although still very poorly - and still probably not got long left (although we're not holding our breath given his history for remarkable recoveries LOL) is now back at the care home he lives at. They've agreed to take him back, even if it's only to nurse him until he goes.

At his last review there he was asked "are you happy here"....his answer was "well the only way I'm leaving this place is when they carry me out in a box" - so it looks like he'll be getting his wish of dying at home .

We're going to go down and see him with the DS's at the end of the month - and then we have a sneaky suspicion that he's going to feel it's "time to go" - he's seen all other family members either in the last few weeks in hospital, or in the last couple of months - just DS3 he's never seen.

2ndly - well, don't want to give TMI - but DH and I are as close as we've ever been - even got adventurous last night and for the first time ever (we've been together 9yrs now) activities, of the bedroom nature , occured outside of the bedroom

notsofarnow · 07/10/2007 15:11

QofQ lucky old you

xh has the children and i'm just too tired to do anything - have vac'd the leaves up on the garden and cleaned shower room but just can't be bothered to do anything else.

DutchOma · 07/10/2007 15:22

Well, that's lots isn't it? Time to put your feet up with a cup of tea

Notquitegrownup · 07/10/2007 16:12

Lol, QoQ. There was a thread recently, warning against kitchen 'activities' - at least not if you don't want to explain to everyone how your breakfast bar got broken whilst the kids were at school!! You have been warned!!

DO - my MIL has just had a prolonged cough diagnosed as a symptom of a hiatus hernia. Gaviscon seems to help a lot, along with medication from the doc. (I heard a phone in on Radio 4 years ago saying how Gaviscon helps a lot of coughs, which are inflamed by a weakened valve in the foodpipe) Worth a try!

Busy but lovely day here. Church, then ds1 to a rugby tournament, ds2 to a birthday party. Lots of fresh air and fun. Mmmmm.

God bless all.

DutchOma · 07/10/2007 16:48

Thanks NQGU, it is worth a try. I'll get a bottle of Gaviscon and see how it goes.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 07/10/2007 17:11

NQG - don't worry kitchen is still in one piece - certainly wouldn't be doing anything in there - we have no blinds on the kitchen window, and it looks straight over the (short) garden wall into the (very close) next door neighbours kitchen.......he's a 79yr old man, whose 50 something old son lives with him LOL.

MaryBS · 08/10/2007 02:17

Licensing went well...

Could really use your prayers at the moment. I've had so much go wrong lately - its now at the stage I feel ready to crack, and I may quit ministry training. If I do, there'll be no going back for me.

I heard a quote at the licensing which I found inspiring, something like "What I think about what He has done for me, I would do ANYTHING for Him". Pray that'll be the case...

MaryBS · 08/10/2007 02:18

Or even "When I think..."

PandaG · 08/10/2007 07:47

Praying Mary, praying hard. Do not allow the devil to gain a foothold honey, he sure does not want you to get licensed, cos he knows what a valuble tool you are in the fight against him. God has already won the war, praying that the struggles you are going through at the moment would soon be over. Is there anything we can do to help? You know where I am honey xxx

mufti · 08/10/2007 07:57

what PandaG said ,Mary.

DutchOma · 08/10/2007 09:00

I'm not far if you want to talk. I can be in Peterborough if it is any help.
Decisions that far reaching are best made after a long think. You've come so far and I know I've said it before but:- "Underneath are the everlasting arms". You can't fall out of God's reach sweetheart
