DutchOma · 15/10/2007 10:32

Thanks Mary, for asking. On the whole I am functioning fine, though there is still this bit of a cough in the background which catches me unawares.
Selwyn Hughes once described depression as "the common cold of Christianity" and another wonderful quote "you can't stop birds from landing on your head, but you can stop them making a nest in there".

I love your poem to Needmorecoffee, glad you found that thread without me linking it, there is so much pain there, wish we could do more to help.

Hope you all have happy Mondays, I'm off to Tesco to do the shopping.

CaptainDippy · 15/10/2007 10:43

Hi DO! Continuing to pray for your cough .... enjoy Tesco Sorry to be cheeky (again); but this thread is getting too long again and I just know I am not going to get a chance to do a new one this week - any chance you could do one for me? > xx

Good morning all. What a lot of posts from yesterday!

Flying by. Hello Morticiasmother. Have we met before?

Mary - praying against your depression, for you Hon. (I did so last week, as I felt it creeping back, and I really felt that I wasn't meant to go there again.) However, it can be a pointer that perhaps you need a bit of 'you' time. You are doing so much giving at the moment. Do take time to look after yourself.

BTW, did you see that wonderful programme last night "Beautiful young minds", looking at Britains top young mathematicians, many of whom were diagnosed with Asbergers Syndrome? I thought it was very moving, and although very poignant as there were some very sad moments, it was also incredibly positive. They were a wonderful group of amazingly intelligent and sensitive young men.

Many thanks for your prayers for ds1. Will update a bit when I get a moment.

God bless all.

PandaG · 15/10/2007 12:14

JUst back from the school run, left the house at 8.20 this morning, spent all morning adding up money at school, and praise be it balanced! When am I going to get he time to spend at school when I get a job?

CD, praying again for your anxiety honey

DO, praying that the cough would finally go

CC - have you settled back at home now, parying for your family at this time.

Mary - praying that the depression does not take hold. I so understand about getting cross with the DC, I got really unnecessarily wound up with mine yesterday, and was shrieking at them like a fishwife at one point . Need more patience with mine. Will pray for patience for both of us! I am glad you are finding peace in church at the moment, praying that the peace that passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind wherever you are, in fact, I pray that for all of us on this thread.

xx

I am completley overwhelemed but can't get rid of this feeling of dread that something will go wrong, i'm even praying myself everyday that I can keep this one

notsofarnow · 16/10/2007 20:23

omw I just typed out a really long threaed and when i clicked post it said it didn't recognise me so will try this before i rewrite post.

notsofarnow · 16/10/2007 20:29

Right so many prayers since last time. I not been around because i've had whatever ds had last week. Thought I was dying last night, but much better as the day has gone on.

I know there are so many really big requests on here but here's mine.

dd started school in sept (welsh speaking) and when i ask her what she's done she says nothing or she doesn't know. i ask her if she does letters or numbers or writes her name which she can't or won't do at home, and she says no.

I go to my friends this afternoon and her ds also in reception in different school knows all his phonics, brings reading books home, has a home school diary and looks to be doing really well. So is it that welsh speaking education is different or is it just my dd?

Also having battle with ds and behaviour/attitude. I am loosing it bigtime with him and I really don't want to be. Every meal time is a battle with him saying he's not hungry - he's wasting away into nothing.

MaryBS · 16/10/2007 20:59

NSFN - we're on a new thread now - see DO's link below.

Sorry to hear about your dd, but it is early days yet. I suggest you arrange to meet up with her class teacher just to see what she is supposed to be doing - or is there a parent's evening coming up? It can be like getting blood out of a stone, trying to get it from a child! Praying for the situation with your DS - remind me again how old he is?
