I use a pendulum for healing work. I scan the body with it to see where there is an imbalance.
Yes for me is clockwise circling, no is a side-to-side movement.

Love the cat photos. Smile Wish I had a pet...

Glad your OH is ok queenrollo and welcome to the thread WistfulBarnacles.

TooManyPaws · 26/10/2018 21:05

speakout, that's interesting because I've had an earworm for over a week of the chorus from Inkubus Sukkubus's song Burning Times:

Children, resist a return to the Burning Times;
People, be wise to the power of their lies.
Be not fooled as those who were fooled before;
Children, oh children, be free, and be wild.

One of my favourite bands and open about being pagan and witches.

VioletCharlotte · 26/10/2018 21:14

Loving all the cat pictures
Elphame that all sounds amazing, I'd love to be a part of something like that one day. How did you get involved with it?
Wistful welcome, come and join us. This thread is such a lovely, friendly place.

Good morning lovelies familiar faces and newcomers.

Slept a little late this morning, but just what I needed.

I have to be up soon, it's candle making morning, Lavender and violet. I don't know why violet isn't a more popular essential oil, it has such a lovely fragrance, and properties similar to lavender. Also it reminds me of these little sweets - Parma Violets I used to love as a child.

DD is home from Uni this weekend, but OH needs to run her back to her student flat this morning to pick up a key.
She has to decorate the dance studio where she works part time ahead of a day of Halloween parties tomorrow. Parties start with the 3-5 year olds at 1pm, so she will be working all afternoon.
Sounds like such a fun day- wish I could go!!

I hope everyone has a magical weekend.

Good Morning!!

Last night I nearly posted a post that was a smidge whiny saying I wanted snow for the soul. Woke up this morning to the first proper frost, and the most pathetic dusting of snow (think sprinkles on a fairy cake little quantity) that is not even sticking when hitting the ground, but it has made my soul happy.
Off to do a thing for me before ploughing into resolving an issue for work on a day off

May you all have magical weekends that are good for the soul.

StewPots · 27/10/2018 09:32

Morning all :)

I have just received my beautiful Book of Shadows. I have a ritual bath spell to write in, but I have no idea what else to write in it. I guess that comes intuitively eventually?

Do I have to write my name in it and that if my familiar?

StewPots · 27/10/2018 09:35

I should add that my familiar is my cat Heidi, who I actually acquired through MN! A lady had found her as a stray and put her picture up on here to try and find her a new home.

I saw this picture and instantly recognised Heidi as belonging to me, I have no idea why! So I travelled over 300 miles to go and get her and she has fitted into my life so perfectly it's unreal. Because of that connection and the subsequent bond, I feel Heidi was meant to live with me and is my familiar... sorry I'm rambling now!

VioletCharlotte · 27/10/2018 10:13

Morning everyone. Another beautiful day. An unexpected text conversation with a friend last night left me feeling rather unsettled. Had a weird night with lots of vivid dreams and woke feeling rather dazed and confused. I've just been to a yoga class and during meditation I think I was able to work our what the conversation was all about and what I need to do, so feeling a bit more settled. Having a coffee now and trying to come to!

This afternoon I'm going to a women's healing cacao ceremony. Have any of you been to one? I've heard it's meant to be a wonderful experience.

speakout · 27/10/2018 10:53

stewpots I am glad you like your book.

Number one rule about a book of shadows is - There are no rules.

Mine is a messy mixture of spells, dreams, drawings. poems, tings I have cut out of magazines, little things I have found, ,meaningful pictures etc.

This is a good view:

Thank you @speakout that's kind of what I thought - just a way to jot down spells, feelings, readings etc.
Just such a pretty little book I'm loathe to do my usual doodles and squiggles

speakout · 27/10/2018 12:00

VioletCharlotte Glad your activities helped settle your mind.

I have never been to a women's healing ceremony- unless you count breastfeeding support groups- I have seen some amazing soul healing going on there!

Most witches end up with multiple Books of Shadows, Bookcases of Shadows, Filing Cabinets of Shadows, and, of course in this day and age, Data Sticks of Shadows!

As speakout said, anything you like, poetry, rituals, spells, little snippets of lore, etc. I have stuff everywhere.

In Initiatory Craft such as Wicca, your Book of Shadows, ie your primary one, is something that is passed down the initiatory lineage from Gerald Gardner and one of his High Priestesses. It must be copied from the book of your initiator and copied by your own initiates. In addition, we can acquire other variants from other lineages. I now have a book the size of a church bible into which I am copying first my own first received BoS and then will add the variants I wish to work with, as well as things that I like or have written myself. None of this is ever shared with anyone outside of Initiatory Craft but our other BoSs that we use to copy into other things such as mentioned above are free to be shared.

Teatime yesterday I was suddenly hit with a fever. In the space of 20 mins I went from feeling ok to aching all over and hot! I took myself to bed and had a very fitful night, with a bit of delirium.
I was expecting to wake this morning with flu but i'm fine, just a little tired and residual aches.

I worked a spell a couple of months ago and I have found out today that it worked. It was the only thing I could do in a very difficult situation and I was resigned to the fact I might never find out if it worked.
What has been relayed back to me has given me goosebumps!

ChipInTheSugar · 27/10/2018 14:03

Stewpots I remember reading about your epic journey! So lovely to hear Heidi is so settled with you.

StewPots · 27/10/2018 15:59

@ChipInTheSugar aww yes she's very settled now :)

StewPots · 27/10/2018 16:00

@TooManyPaws thank you for that information, I will certainly get hold of what I can when I can.

GruciusMalfoy · 27/10/2018 17:54

@queenrollo What a reaction! I hope you've had a restful day today.

Can I ask a question about tarot. At present I am just "getting used to" my cards by taking them out in the evening, shuffling through them and looking at the pictures as they come. I'm not sure how to "move on" from this sort of use. The cards are still very new to me.

speakout · 27/10/2018 19:45

queenrollo

Wow- what a manifestation energy!

I hope you are feeling OK today

Hi all, just checking in. Some very interesting stuff going on with us all.
A blessed Samhain to everyone.

As for me, I’m wiped, from a huge work thing I’ve been working up to for weeks, as well as the effects of that amazing, powerful moon.
I received my Pagan Dawn today, so I’ve been mainly on the sofa with that and some back issues. 💤

TooManyPaws · 27/10/2018 21:09

Grucius I'm no expert on Tarot but others have told me to get to know the cards as you are doing, then concentrate on one card at a time for a longer period, like a day for example. Look at the picture, check everything out closely, go through all the meanings it represents to you, what comes instinctively, what comes intellectually, and write it down. Sleep with it under your pillow and note your dreams. Then move on to the next card.

I'm very much a pendulum user or a single card oracle user. I've just got some Dark Goddess Oracle cards that I want to start using. With a pendulum, I always still it when hanging and ask it to show me a yes, then a no, and then a maybe. It can change. The direction of the circling changes whenever it is held over my right pulse or my left pulse. I always still it in between questions too.
