A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration

All welcome.

Hi all!
I wonder if anyone here works with pendulums? I'd very much like to hear about what you use it for, any wisdom you have to share, or links to resources.

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 26/10/2018 13:55

I am watching Sabrina right now-it’s surprisingly good!

I have three black cats, though none as useful as Salem. They’re more likely to get in the way of my witchy meddlings than anything else, though they are all very interested and like to be around for anything exciting.

I use pendulums Lacypants, though I’m not very practiced with them. I tend to use one when I’m trying to clarify something with my cards and don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere.

PawneeParksDept · 26/10/2018 14:06

@Lacypants I bought a pendulum recently, found it a bit haphazard and unclear

Hold your pendulum above your out turned palm say "Show me yes"

Wait til it swings a certain way

Do "show me no"

And then ask yes/no questions

queenrollo · 26/10/2018 15:09

My husband was sent to A&E again last night. Within 20 mins of this happening my stray familar appeared at the back door. He really just knows
(husband is fine btw, just in line for more tests to try and get to the bottom of it all)

Bellecose2 · 26/10/2018 15:27

Queenrollo... that's just amazing. I feel uplifted just reading about your stray familiar. What a comfort that must be for you right now.

Like a few others, am feeling a bit flat too but also irritated with people around me. My animals are the only ones not annoying me! .Halloween Hmm

@lacypants..Only this morning I was thinking about getting a pendulum so I might just do that now.

Hope everyone has a beautiful, bright autumn weekend

speakout · 26/10/2018 16:17

queenrollo glad your OH is OK.

How amazing that you have been found by a familiar!

My elderly mother have never seen eye to eye - over many things

Today she glared at me angrily and said " The trouble with you is that you are wild! And always have been!"

I knew she meant it an an insult, but I can't help taking it on as a compliment! Am I right in doing so you think?

MawkishTwaddle · 26/10/2018 16:20

Really out of sorts at the moment. Am pulling up a comfy chair and settling in to listen to soothing voices.

Come warm your toes by the fire, tonight will be a calmer one.

Thanks. Speakout, and thank you for the new thread.

owlshooting · 26/10/2018 16:30

Interesting these comments about feeling so drained. I have been really really out of sorts lately. Completely exhausted, spacey, feeling completely overwhelmed and drained. Dealing with difficult family issues all week and shouldering all sorts of burders. Just feel completely depleted. The cold weather doesn't help either. I hate winter!

owlshooting · 26/10/2018 16:30

I feel the same- drained and over burdened.

I do love this time of year and winter though- I may take myself on a shopping trip to buy some cosy lights and cushions.

Hello all
Queenrollo that's a lovely story about your familiar, how do these animals know when we need their comfort? Glad your husband is ok.

Speakout I would take your Mother's comments as a compliment too! Wild is a good thing

The temperatures certainly dropped today hasn't it? And the clocks go back Sunday... it's going to be winter in no time. I'm looking forward to shutting the curtains, putting my candles on and spending the night doing some tarot practise. Sending warmth and energy to you all 😊🔥

BlankTimes · 26/10/2018 17:25

Pawn pics of my Dark Trilogy.
Lacy good advice from Pawn on using the pendulum. You'll find it easier if you don't start from absolutely still. My yes and no are clockwise and anticlockwise, sunwise and deosil/widdershins if you prefer, so I always start from a back and forth swing.

Anything here of any interest? britishdowsers.org/

Mawkish, Owls and Speakout, I think there's a general draining vibe around anyway, lots of people trying to make lots of others feel very uneasy about the future.

The trouble with you is that you are wild! And always have been!
Definitely a compliment of the highest order Halloween Grin

Speakout - wild is good! My mother would say the same about me. Cushions and lights sound great. I really miss having an open fire at this time of year!

Bellecose2 · 26/10/2018 17:48

@Blanktimes... How beautiful they are!

Yes, I would take that as a compliment too speakout. Like you, I enjoy winter. Love hygge... cosy throws, candles, soft lamps.

GruciusMalfoy · 26/10/2018 18:49

Wild most definitely is good. To me I'd read it as "you do what you feel is right, and not what I want you to do!"

@queenrollo I hope you and your husband get answers from his tests quickly

Today's been much nicer here, more positive feeling. I think seeing the sun helps. I might play with my tarot deck this evening, I'd really like to get a feel for it.

speakout · 26/10/2018 18:55

GruciusMalfoy

Yes, perhaps that's true.

I am not very good with authority, I question everything. I am not a gratuitous rule breaker, but I have a big problem with power structures and organisations that seem to exert unfair use of power.

My mother is the opposite- she like to follow, not to rock the boat, she fits in well at church. dislikes feminist ideas etc.

Well I wondered why I wasn't getting updates! Didn't spot the new thread.

Last minute Samhain preparations here for the open ritual at my local stone circle for tomorrow night. We have permission to use the circle after dark so the boat is really being pushed out.

The list of things not to forget to take is getting longer and longer. I'll be baking soul cakes for the ritual tomorrow and trying to remember what happens when! I'm taking the guardian/facilitator role which means I can't fully take part in the ritual as I need to be aware of what is going on. We've banned children from this one but I'm aware we'll be pushing some people out of their comfort zones.

Samhain falls on the 7th November for me this year so it's going to be a busy couple of weeks.

Wish me luck!

WistfulBarnacles · 26/10/2018 19:33

Hello, may I join you?

I'm not a witch or anything yet though I've always been drawn that way. I lurked on your last thread and felt so at home. I could just feel positive yet restful energy coming to me whilst lurking which was amazing.

So I figured something was calling me and I'd like to know more.

Where is the best place for me to start though?

Thank you for your time and patience

sockportal · 26/10/2018 19:36

Evening all, I've also been drained the last week or so, struggling to get out of bed and no energy to do anything. I've reverted back to making to do lists including a to do list of self care.

As well as feeling the temperature drop, I reminded of the colder weather by the almost permanent appearance of my cats in the house. Over the summer they very busy living their own independent lives in the garden.

Here are my two cats for the person who wanted to live vicariously through them. The white is a female and he my familiar.

WistfulBarnacles

A warm welcome.
A pagan path is wide and varied- there is no "right" place to start.

Follow your nose, read about what interests you, do what you enjoy. Second hand bookshops are always good places, or watch some you tube- there is some great information out there.

We all have different interests and skills, and that what makes the tapestry we weave so interesting and ornate.

Some of us are drawn to Tarot, others to working with herbs, kitchen magic, divination, spell work, candle magic, making potions or tinctures- our interests will wax and wane over the years, we may dabble in one area for a while then move on and then pick up that interest some while later.

Think about what draws to to a magical path and work from that.

Collectively there is a wide knowledge and experience on this thread, but no individual is an expert on all magical things.

As a group though we seem to have a lot covered though!

No question is too silly or basic, so ask away if you need more information or pointers.

MOGGIES 😍

Aren't they all gorgeous?

Evening Sisters Halloween Smile

Just catching up a bit...
I’m loving the cat pictures 😻
I miss my familiar, although I feel another will find me when the time is right.

speakout I agree that wild is a compliment. I’d certainly take it as such.
I’m reminded of my DS coming out of school furious as some of the other kids had been saying to him that his mum was weird. I told him that I took it as a compliment. Tbh I was fine with not fitting in! He can see that now although bless him for feeling so protective of me at such a young age.

Elphame that sounds like quite a ritual you’re planning- good luck! Look forward to hearing how it goes

WistfulBarnacles it’s good to have you join us. I agree on the restful yet positive energy here. I’m forever learning from the wonderful wise women here. Look forward to learning with you.

I took some time out to connect with the sea today. I wasn’t brave enough to get in it but feel clearer and lighter for being near it

Lighting a candle and wishing for a sense of lightness for those feeling depleted. Sending you all love 🕯
