Have a look through our earlier 3 threads, there's loads about cleansing, smudging, purifying etc. in there.
As for people charging for 'helping', maybe I can put it into perspective, they have their hourly business rate, travel expenses to get to and from your home, supplying the kit they use and need to replace plus they'll spend some time with you evaluating what your needs are and afterwards explaining what they've done and probably spend time answering any of your follow-up questions, process the payment, pay tax on it, sort the VAT if they're registered.
If I need someone to do something at my house, say a plumber, their callout fee is at least £40 but that's just for them to get here and ring the doorbell.
I'm by no means saying you should pay the person, just trying to give an example of how much fixing something at a house or flat costs.
Cleansing is something you can do yourself, as I said, there are loads of ideas on the previous threads so do have a go if you feel you're interested in it. If you're smudging, be careful because some of the white sage bundles drop a lot of hot embers, you have to fan them to keep the level of smoke you need to purify the place and of course yourself before you start.
