Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration

All welcome.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes.

Billydessert that's a very kind thing to say also about "youthful souls".

I feel very youthful, I have more energy ( during the day anyway) than I did in my 20s, or at least my energy feels stronger, more focused.
I think in my 20s I used a lot of energy by giving it away, fuelling anxiety, doing things that were not important or in my best interests.
I have cut away a lot of the rubbish, I value my energy more and have better directional skills.
So I can manifest a great deal of power for a project, magical or otherwise by focus and determination.

I also keep fit and healthy, exercise regularly, and fun is always near the top of my agenda!.

Just about to post- you have said what needs to be said.

Energy can be strong but is also subject to flux and outside influences.

We have built up energy within this online grouping, and this thread has been a powerful positive influence for me and others.

We need to safeguard it- I know you feel protective too.

I am waking up to the most amazing pink sky. Today is a day of blessing for me. My family are all safe and happy under one roof, everyone is thriving.
For me this is a day of thanks and celebration.

And a huge thanks to everyone on his thread who has contributed in such a positive way.

Hello, may I join you?
I would like to ask for advice about what to read to get started on the path.
I am drawn to the sea, the north sea and Northumberland. It's the place I feel most alive and aware.
It's my favourite place, where I feel the most contented but also makes me feel connected to the world. I can feel the crackle of so many lives there. So much history but it's not sad, it's alive.
I like to wander along the beach and always pick lots of things up.
I don't feel the same on beaches anywhere else.
Sadly I live very far away from it, in Southern Germany.
I would like to feel some kind of connection here as I feel very uncomfortable and sad. It's far from the sea, lots of forest, lakes and mountains but I feel like I am cut off from it all.
Can anyone suggest some reading or anything else that might help?
I am only just starting out so I know nothing at the moment.
I have a tarot deck but don't know how to read it or even how to deal the cards but I love the images.. It feels like the deck is waiting for me but I don't know what to do with it.
Thanks for reading

Billydessert · 22/09/2018 08:15

That's so interesting @Speakout maybe it's a side of that stage of life that I haven't heard about before. The positive aspects! Well, mothering is very tiring and draining but youve made me feel very positive to know all the energy can come back to you at some point! :D

The air is silvery , fresh and still here this morning, all is calm. I noticed on my walk that lots of small branches were being blown off the trees and Im trying to channel that sense of shedding dead wood.
How much do you all practice your craft on a day to day basis? I suppose I'm an empath and I often feel I could say helpful things to people but not sure whether it's deemed appropriate to reach out in this way.
Thank you for the advice about creating a self protecting barrier though. I've been shielding myself when in busy areas and it's made me much calmer. All those people with their different emotions zipping and fizzing around can make me stressy in crowds. Thank you for reminding me that I can choose not to take on others emotions Flowers

Bellecose2 · 22/09/2018 08:18

Hi RayRay, I'm new to the craft too. My reading began with Wicca. There is a good learning resource site called Wicca spirituality.

I'm finding that I actually lean more towards traditional witchcraft rather than a religious based craft but I think it's useful to get as much knowledge as possible. The general philosophy of Wicca is interesting too. For example, on good and evil and their guidance on morality when beginning the craft. It doesn't hurt to have guidelines because it can sometimes feel overwhelming when you begin this path.

As for Tarot, just ask the cards what they want to tell you. You can do a daily card to begin with and it will help you learn the cards. Finally, this thread is full of amazing women who will help and advise you. There isn't just one path here either so there is a wealth of knowledge here.

Happy reading!

Billydessert · 22/09/2018 08:25

Oh forgot to say, crab apple jelly with mint would be lovely

Bellecose2 · 22/09/2018 08:46

@FitzsFool. I've only just started using sigils so I don't want to give you wrong information. There are a lot of books/websites which I'm still reading up on but, as yet, can't find one in particular to recommend. Have read some annoyingly frustrating stuff too so it's kind of like finding something that speaks to you (like Tarot)

One thing I'm not sure of is whether to get rid of the sigil and to forget it or to retain it (i.e a protection sigil) so if anyone could advise me I'd be grateful. At the moment, I think I'm breaking all the rules.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 22/09/2018 08:57

RayRay, what tarot cards do you have? Biddy Tarot has good basic meanings for decks based on the RWS. A daily card to see what the prevailing energy will be for the day is useful and helps you see how it applies to real life. Just be aware that a daily card can give quite a literal meaning. I had a time where I kept getting the Tower and couldn’t understand why - nothing Earth-shattering was going of for me. Then I realised that it was referring to the fact that building I worked in was literally falling apart. We’d had a lot of rain and the roof has sprung several leaks and plaster was falling of the ceilings and walls. Smile

I’m sorry that you’re feeling disconnected in your new home. I’m of the belief that there is a sort of symbiotic relationship between ourselves and the land we live on. When we are born, the local genius loci ‘recognises’ us and our spirits harmonise to an extent. I think it can take time to build that recognition in a new place. Can you take regular walks in your new area? Introduce yourself and leave a small offering.

Bellecose2 Whizzing past as packing to go south and got to be off

Frater UD Practical Sigil Magic is the "bible" for the basics of sigil use. Sigils have come on a bit with chaos magic but that will give you a good grounding to start with -then you can go play, break all the rules etc etc Grin

Keep or destroy the sigil depends on what you want it to do!

RayRayBidet - welcome aboard. I do have some resources on water and sea witch magic. I'll look them up and post them later.

Bellecose2 · 22/09/2018 09:37

Thank you Elphame... Safe journey.

RayRayBidet · 22/09/2018 10:22

@Bellecose2 thank you for the lovely welcome ❤️
I will have a look at the Wicca book thank you. I will try a daily card and see what happens. Any suggestions about resources for the meanings?
@boldlygoingsomewhere
Hello! I have a Rider Waite deck. They are beautiful, I love the images on them though I imagine they aren't very exotic! Probably a bit vanilla.
We live next to a big forest. I have walked through it a few times but then it got really hot and I didn't really go anywhere. The temperature is much more pleasant now and I have time in the morning now school has gone back. I always feel this particular forest is holding its breath and waiting. I didn't realise it was probably waiting for me to introduce myself! I could make an offering and I could keep coming back to it each day. Can you suggest an appropriate gift?
@Elphame
Just my luck to be into the sea and then move to the middle of Central Europe! When I get back to the beach it would be nice to have something to offer so I would love to read about sea witches. Do you think it would be OK to collect some sand from the beach to bring home?
On my favourite beach in Northumberland I always find these little bits of china and have collected quite a lot over the years. I have those and shells and pebbles. I keep them on the windowsill in my bathroom and quite often spend a few minutes touching them. I always feel happier when I do it.
Thank you so much everyone, I feel really happy to have found you.

RayRayBidet

A warm welcome, I'll pour you a tea.

I can understand about your loss of connection of place, the ideas that boldlygoingsomewhere are good, leaving an offering.

You may like to try to build connections, I assume that you are from the UK, much of the cultural heritage we share with Germany, we share a lot.
Maybe reading about Cetlic Mythology or Celtic gods will help you find a connection.

Do you keep sea items with you?

Some sand in a bottle or a vial of seawater may help you when you are feeling out of place.

Thank you, I will read some of the Celtic stuff, I actually have a big book about it that I bought years ago and didn't get round to, must have been a sign!
@FitzsFool great name, I love the Farseer books!

sockportal · 22/09/2018 11:01

@speakout your words "I think in my 20s I used a lot of energy by giving it away, fuelling anxiety, doing things that were not important or in my best interests."

Have just really resounded with me. I have spent my 20s and first part of my 30s suffering with crippling anxiety. I have found the way to set me free from it was to do things for myself, joining a yoga class and joining a choir. I also cut the people who brought negative energies into my life.

Thank you speakout for giving me feelings words, I feel much happier now.

I am glad you found resonance.

And good to hear that you find nurturing yourself and grounding has helped your anxiety.

@BlankTimes
One of the hardest lessons to learn in the Craft is that all actions have consequences, I don't need to use my crystal ball to forsee a likely one in the immediate future. I'd say at the least, copious quantities of salt are likely to be needed now, scattered widdershins, to try to reinstate this thread's intention and its harmony.

Well, I apologise for saying how much I prefer the uplifting nature of this thread and support to the other. I apologise for saying how much someone had upset me. I apologise for posting the lyrics of a song which was passed to me as loving and supporting other women and witches. I apologise for not understanding netiquette after being on Pagan Internet email lists, groups and forums for nearly 30 years, I apologise for not understanding the Craft that I have been in and taught for twenty plus years.

I apologise for wanting support from something that had upset me elsewhere. I apologise for posting about things and people elsewhere who hurt me, and how this thread helped me.

Thank you for making me cry when I came here to say how I attacked I felt elsewhere. Thank you for removing the safety I felt in this thread. Thank you for your unsupportive condescension. Thank you for making me aware that some people aren't interested in raw hurt.

I'm going to leave this thread now and cry away my pain from first the other and now this thread with my dogs. This WAS a supportive thread for me and now it is a cause of hurt and triggering in a place that I thought safe.

Thank you, @blanktimes, for making all this clear to me. You certainly didn't need spells to hurt. I feel that I now need a salt circle for protection from your words, in addition to the one you wish to sprinkle for protection of this thread from me.

AngelsAckiz · 22/09/2018 11:15

Yes me! I was brought up in a wiccan household. Now I practice for myself

VioletCharlotte · 22/09/2018 11:27

Morning everybody, just catching up on all the posts. I had a really busy day yesterday and feel like all my energy has been zapped. Reading this thread is making me feel more grounded, so thank you. I'm really enjoying this thread, so many people with so much wisdom.

This morning I'm cleaning my house from top to bottom to shift the energy and make it feel like somewhere I can relax again. It's been a busy week and I've been working flat out, the house seems to reflect this and feels rather neglected.

TooManyPaws

Please don't go.

Your contribution is valuable.
I am sorry you feel upset, I think simply that some of us feel very protective of this thread and when others ( not you) try to cast negativity then it destroys a special place.

Several of us have taken the bait on this topic in the past few weeks, me included, and for what it's worth I feel the same as you do.

Instead focus on the positivity and support we have here.

@RayRaybidet....I use a tarot set (+explanatory book) by Deborah Blake, Everday Witch. I find it feminine in outlook and very different to anything I've used before.

RayRayBidet · 22/09/2018 12:38

Well I did what was suggested and dusted off the tarot cards.
I picked one card that I was drawn to. I was reading about its meaning which was very pertinent to my situation.
Then another card kind of jumped out at me and was also very apt for my situation.
Blimey! It was like one telling me where I am and the second how to deal with it.
Some real food for thought 🤔
