Hi all

I’ve been lurking for a while but not really wanted to interrupt - just been enjoying your discussions. So much of what was said in the earlier threads about losing our own self-care and quiet pleasures in the daily grind of life really resonated with me, and this weekend I put myself first and spent a glorious morning making soup then browsing one of my local hillsides for haw and hips which are now distilling nicely in some gin Smile I also found some beautiful teasels and decided to create a proper altar space for myself. It just seemed fitting at the equinox to reconnect with this part of myself.

I’ve always been very connected to nature and as a kid I spent hours foraging for fruit and herbs, and creating salves and tinctures. My happy place was the boughs of an old oak tree, or tucked into a hawthorn hedge.

When I was at uni I read a lot about Wicca but whilst I identified with the rede, I didn’t really connect with the ‘organised’ approach of covens and priestesses. My path is much more about connectedness with nature and the world and i’m pretty solitary by nature. My practice has taken a back seat over recent years but you’ve inspired me to rekindle it. Thank you.

It’s also nice to see plenty of local witches - Paws and Speakout I think we must all be fairly near to each other Smile It’s a beautiful city and one I feel entirely at home in, despite always being a country girl.

@Speakout could I also please ask if you might draw a card for me when you have a minute? I’d appreciate your guidance at the moment. Thank you.

Veterinari

Welcome on this cool autumn morning. Interesting to hear your path.
We have lots of different approaches here, all are welcome.
I am a witch, not Wiccan, being brought up that way as a child, and I buck authority generally!!

I will be happy to do a Tarot pick for you later today, I;m just off to an early morning yoga class to get my bones moving.

That is beautiful..Smile we have some talented photographers on here.

Veterinari · 24/09/2018 06:50

Thank you Speakout
Yes i think I identify much more with the term witch too - although i’m far too inexperienced to call myself that. These threads have been really useful in helping me to give a name to my beliefs and practices - I hadn’t really understood that what I was doing was in some small way ‘witchcraft’ - I’ve always just spent time in nature, marked the passing of the seasons and foraged, but the wisdom and experience on this thread has been hugely helpful and inspired to to start practising with more intent.

Beautiful photo, speakout. Smile

Welcome, Veterinari. These threads are friendly places.

SeagIass · 24/09/2018 10:19

Would anyone mind sharing their altars? Or just the kinds of things you use, if not comfy sharing pics?

Skyejuly · 24/09/2018 10:31

Mines pretty packed for house move :(

I do not identify at Wiccan either. I am just a Witch. That is how I identity:-)

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/09/2018 16:50

Stewpots it is interesting to hear of someone else who drowned in a past life. I drowned in a fishing boat accident in a storm on a sea. It partially explains why I am drawn to the sea but also why I have a dislike to be on it - particularly if there is roughness. I was also betrayed and had my throat cut in a different past life and at some point was hung. I dislike things tight around my neck and just go with the flow on this.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/09/2018 16:57

Forgive the separate post, MN appears to dislike the enter key atm Confused YashmisCrone it is kind of you to say so, but I am aware that there was a good amount of despair and frustration about the uncontrolled gift and the situation. Thankfully the advice has already started to make slow progress and I am slowly learning to protect myself from all the things that bombard me and cause me to feel drained. I still struggle with the glowing orb approach to a protection bubble but I realised that it is because I can't wear yellow because it makes me look ill and therefore the concept of being covered in a yellow light was not something I adapt to easily. I am shifting my focus to more of a energy orb more like the sun which helps me overcome the issue. A reframing kind of.

Veterinari Your tarot pick is the three of cups, a very positive card. Almost always represents a group of women, maybe they are in your life already, perhaps it is time to seek out others who will support you in your endeavors. You need kindred spirits around you.

@speakout if you have time this evening, would you mind drawing a card for me?

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 18:58

speakout I would love a card too, if you get a moment over the next few days.

Veterinari · 24/09/2018 18:58

Thank you Speakout that’s actually exactly what I needed to hear. I have a tendency to hide away when things are hard. The reality is that I have incredible people around me - I just need to lean on them a little more - i’m Not very good at that and this reminder is very timely

speakout · 24/09/2018 18:59

No problem, I have my deck here and a relaxed moment.

VioletCharlotte Page of Pentacles. Your path is wide open and you are prepared for new adventures. You have all you need at your feet- in the picture the page has money, a map and a broomstick. Now is the time for new adventures to begin

MawkishTwaddle The eight of cups. You are at a turning point. Sometimes you just have to walk in the other direction.Just because you have everything you want does not mean you have everything you need. Others may think you are crazy giving up what looks to be a nice situation, but you need to follow your heart and do what is good for you. Its time to acknowledge that change is just what you need right now,

Hi speak out , please could you draw a card for me? I would really appreciate it.

MintCakeMavis · 24/09/2018 20:00

Well the seasons have definitely changed here. There was ice on my windscreen this morning and dragons breath when breathing out. My favourite part of the year. Can I ask, for those of you who practice tarot, we’re you drawn to them before you started, or have any idea that it’s something you could do?

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 20:50

Thank you speakout. That's very interesting.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 24/09/2018 20:56

Mintcake, for me it was something I was drawn to. Had no idea if I would be any good but as I only read for myself, it didn’t matter in the beginning. I read the book which came with my deck and then just practiced reading for myself and willing friends and family. After tarot, I branched out into other forms of cartomancy and divination. One of my favourite experiments was creating an oracle from small, everyday objects - toys, coins, beads...

VioletCharlotte · 24/09/2018 21:07

Thank you @speakoutI believe that's all about my spiritual journey. Exciting times!

VioletCharlotte · 24/09/2018 21:07

I saw this on Facebook earlier, it really resonated with me.
