Hello all

Minidippy happy birthday!

FA, praying DS2 is better rreally soon - and for a good night's sleep tonight for you.

NSFN - praying honey. you must be exhausted

Rosey - how are you?

Suzi - how are you doing today? Did you make it to church?

MTGAA - praying fo ryou too

DH is now home - he went on a mens walking trip overnight - 16 miles out to a camping barn, then a bbq! They only did 3.5 miles today then caught the train home. He is knackered! Had a good time though.

ZipadiSuzy · 20/05/2007 16:28

Hia all, stonking headache, tonsilitis getting better, no I didn't manage to get to church, knew I wouldn't today.

DH has decided to accept redundancy - AAHHHHHHH panic stations, been trying to sort out our own business all weekend, (Gardening 4 u) bang goes my 2 weeks off work! and trips to the beach! instead will be trips to sort Tax/VAT/Pension/N.I contributions, all the nitty gritty bits to business! I'm clueless

Will catch up later to speak to you all!

Roseylea · 20/05/2007 18:53

Hi everyone!

How was the party CD? I love kids' parties but they are exhausting, eh?

NSFN [hugs]. I'm not surprised you're tired. FWIW I think you are doing amazingly. Praying for you.

FA praying for those poxy pox to shuffle off asap! Our dcs haven't had them yet...

Suzy try not to panic about your dh's job. I know it's scary but it might well turn out to be the best thing he ever did (*I have heard so many people who run their own businesses say that). I hope you do manage to get a bit of fun time in your 2 weeks off as well as all the work sorting things out.

Hi mary! Cool joke! Yes I will check out that church as I do my 'homework'! (Everyone else - my vicar has told me to go and visit lots of other CofE churches so that I get a broad picture of what the denomination is like in all its myriad weird and wonderful forms!)

Hi Panda! I'm well thanks. Dh is at 'boring old work' as dd calls it tonight. The next few days I know I will hardly see him, but hey - lots of other couples have far longer separations. I've had a great day actually - I was in with the 3-5 y o group at church this a.m. and really enjoyed playing with the little ones and chatting with them. Then we all (big bunch of church mates, loads of kids) went off for a picnic and walk down to the river this afternoon and both my 2 were up to their undies in river water! It was beautiful and idyllic where we went, very chilled out. And now I am shattered!!!

God bless all xxx

losty · 20/05/2007 19:08

I have not been on this thread for a very long time, so I hope you will forgive me for intruding now, but I have come to ask for prayer for someone very special in my life. My friend, K, has recently found out he has cancer. He went in to hospital last week to have the cancerous tumour removed from his pancreas. During the operation they discovered that the cancer was on his liver as well, and it was so far advanced they were not able to remove any of the tumours. He has been given 12 months to live, with chemo, or up to 6 months if he cant tolerate the chemo. He is the kindest, most genlte Christian man you could ever meet. He has so many gifts and so much more to give. It seems cruel that God can want to take him away from where he is the source of so many blessings.

My faith was already going through a very testing time, and this news has only made it worse. (It is a particularly sensitive area for me as my dh has chirrosis of the liver and will eventually require similar treatment).

Please can you pray for K. And his wife, also K. And their family and friends as they struggle to deal with this. Thank you.

MaryBS · 20/05/2007 19:38

Losty - praying for K, for strength for him and his family and for you too.

Sooz - you do know I work in payroll don't you, so if I can help, just shout! I also went self-employed for 6 months once, so know a BIT about that too!

Now, better get back to my studies...

notsofarnow · 20/05/2007 20:47

oh well brilliant had a stonking headache before I went out to the point of feeling sick, slurring speech so with nurofen and paracetamol downed we got in the car, set the sat nav to get us to this church and guess what - we got lost oh it took us to a street of same name but a million miles away - well about 6 miles or so. I'd left map and mobile on the table, kids mobiles were running out of battery but managed to get someone from church to come out and rescue us.

Got there and wanted to cry but do you know what it was brill, someone took lo's off to colour, the worship was brill. I love interdenominational things sometimes.

Only problem is headache is now coming back but on opposite side.

Losty praying for your friend hun and for your faith. Hang on in there. Someone once said to me that even when we can't see the sun because of the clouds it is still there. Even when we can't feel God he is still there.

MaryBS · 20/05/2007 21:26

OK, 2 out of the 3 pieces of work are in the folder. I've finished the essay, just needs a last minute read through and I've got to put in the Bibliography (most of it is bookmarked pages, which is on the old PC, which is in DD's room! So will have to be done tomorrow!).

Soo... I can just about sit and relax... what will I DO with myself?

Oh, you know that really awful service I went to? I'm told it was "textbook prayerbook" ie BCP 1662. Which makes me want to hold my head and shout "NOOOOOOO"! OK, yeah, so looks like I'm still a bit ignorant about the Anglican church... good job I didn't go for selection for ordination! . Give me a good old Latin mass any day

MaryBS · 20/05/2007 21:31

Ooo look, even found the BCP online:

BCP Holy Communion Service

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 20/05/2007 22:46

DD2's Party was great - v.chilled & fun. Not many people actually turned up, which was fine by me - just a select bunch of lovely friends. We enjoyed playing in the garden and chatting and we played Pass-the-Parcel and ate our picnics and had cake. It was really nice. Just opened DD's presents (I know that sounds v.mean; but if you knew my girls, you would understand - Two words: "Bitch" "Fight"!!!! )

Mmmmmmmm ....

DD2's most random present was a snorkel & flipper set from ELC - WHAAAAT!!!!!!? (She was two today....)

ZipadiSuzy · 21/05/2007 12:08

I'll catch up later, but DH has accepted redundancy! AHHHHHH mega butterflies, you are now looking at 'Gardening 4 u' W & S Garden Services.

Yiiiiikkkkkkkks!

how exciting,

thank you lord for giving my dh a chance to be proud of himself and accept his own responsibilites in his life (gosh he's only 53) never too late!

Thank you, thank you, thank you lord!

Just got to tackle my un-supportive family now! my doom and gloom darling mummy whom I love dearly, if she gets all worried my dad gets worried then the rest of the family get upset cause mum and dad are worried! my mum and dad don't cope well with change, dicky hearts (oops am I allowed to say that), I just did

Sorry this post is all me me me!

fannyannie · 21/05/2007 13:26

thanks for your prayers - DH had a long night with DS2 last night (my turn again tonight) but we've definitely turned a corner with him - no new spots (so much for 3-5 days for all the spots to come out - more like 6 or 7 for DS2 LOL) since yesterday morning and he's back to skating along the line between naughty and nice .

Having a housecleaning blitz this week - it's halfterm next week and I'd like the house sort of tidy before DS3 arrives - can't believe I'll be 38 weeks pg tomorrow !

Notquitegrownup · 21/05/2007 13:50

Hello All

Flying by, with prayers for all.

Sooz - your post made me smile! Are you sure we aren't secret sisters? Your family sounds exactly like mine!! So pleased that you are able to feel excited about this next stage in your lives. Praying for God to bless your adventure abundantly.

Lotsy - special prayers for your dfs.

God bless all.

MaryBS · 21/05/2007 15:27

I'll try and reply properly later... but my OT coursework is finished - I'm shortly on my way to go and hand it in... and I feel like crying with relief, in fact I HAVE shed a few tears! It has been SO hard!

As for DS and the Ed Psych. She has said that he is very bright, in some areas (spatial awareness) he is exceptionally bright - so much so she stopped one of the tests, because it was so obvious he was good at it. He struggles with eye contact, but she thinks it may be because he knows people struggle to understand him as his speech isn't always that good. She's recommending speech therapy and playing eye contact games. So I'm REALLY pleased over that as well. I'd found it upsetting when friends suggested "have you considered Aspergers?", and "do you think he might be slightly autistic?". Praise God he's fine though!

ZipadiSuzy · 21/05/2007 17:26

Mary - Glad your happy with the findings of Ed Phych with ds - and well done you finishing OT coursework! you deserve a sniffle over the cross line

CD - I gather its your dh birthday today, 'robot pencil sharpener' & teabags and I agree with you 'snorkel & flippers' for a 2 year old [puzzled] no wonder you have to check pressies first ROFL

NSFN - hope your 'stonking' headache has gone,'interdenominational'???????????? der am I thick, (or is it service for allsorts)

NQGU - I could do with a different sister sometimes, mine takes after mi mum, 'old worry warts' I love her really just would be nice for someone in the family to say, "soozi, thats a really good idea, well done, good luck" but hey!

FA - I am pleased your ds is getting back to 'normal' self, maybe you'll get a good nights sleep tonight, here's praying! and the babybump? good luck with the house cleaning blitz! housework is a foreign word in our house

fannyannie · 21/05/2007 20:01

I hope I'll get a good sleep tonight.......Babybump is fine - lots of BH/tummy tightenings - but nothing to get me worried (yet )

House cleaning is slow but steady - cleaned most of the upstairs bathroom today and I've made a start on the study - I'm actually about to 'tidy up' in here for today (ie stack the sorted stuff back onto the shelves I've taken them off LOL) but I do have quite a bit of stuff to put in the bin too - so progress has been made which is a start I suppose.

notsofarnow · 21/05/2007 20:31

ok girls God is good. Have had quite a good day. Been to work which was busy but coped, have even managed to clean the shower room and get dc into bed and feel ok. Result.

Roseylea · 21/05/2007 20:52

Good stuff NSFN!

Hello to everyone and sorry I haven't got time to say hi to everyone personally!

But I need your prayers please! My week is turning into a bit of a logistical nightmare - dh pranged his car the other day (doh!!!!) which means that getting to work etc is all a bit of a jigsaw puzzle (esp. as dh is working until at least 10 pm atm) getting there...

Anyway the biggie is, please could you pray for dh's dad in hospital having an operation?

And the slightly smaller but still important other one is please could you pray for us on Wednesday - dh (who is exhausted and really needs some time just to sleep) is off work but has planned to go and see his dad and do lots of jobs. Meanwhile my mum rang just now and I said "Are you okay to have ds on Weds?" (She normally looks after him on a Weds) and she said "Well, I won't need to, will I? Your dh is off" When I said that dh wants to go and see his dad, mum said "Well okay, but I won't have to have ds for very long, will I?" Aaaaagggggghhhhhhh! Stressssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!! Sorry, that was all a bit garbled but please pray that things work out okay on Weds (I have to go to work)

Sorry for long incoherent post! Please just pray that we all manage to get through the week and do everything we have to do!

Roseylea · 21/05/2007 21:00

Reading my post there re. ds on Weds makes me feel really and it sounds as if we don't care about the poor little mite...

And that's not true at all, my mum normally looks after him that one day a week while I go to work for 4 hours...Yet I know that dh has planned a day of stuff that doesn't include ds (such as visiting his dad in hospital). It's just such a plate-spinning thing, isn't it, going back to work, and if your childcare falls apart it all gets so stressful (at least I get stressed anyway...) I'm v. v. PMT as well, which doesn't help! Please pray for me and my chaotic family!

I'm going to watch New Tricks now, to calm me down!

ellenkpa · 21/05/2007 21:56
