EEEEEEEEEEEK ! DH saw our ghost!

We have lived in our house, for around 4 1/2 years..it is almost 100 years old, and we know at least two people died in it......

Not long after we moved in, I was going to go downstairs to get a drink, and I switched on the landing light, and got the shock of my life, when I saw a young boy sat a couple of steps up from the bottom of the stairs..! i ran back into our room and refused to go downstairs.

When i was feeding DD in the night, i used to often get a cool breeze over my feet , and DD would stop feeding and look up and when she learnt to smile, she smiled at whatever was there....

anyhoo, the odd thing happened from time to time, and then tonight, when DH got home, he came running upstairs and said he had seen the boy. As he stepped into the porch to open the front door, he saw what he thought was DS running through the hall, into the lounge. When he got into the hall, he realised, the lounge door was closed and locked and DS then ran down the stairs to greet him !!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK!!

so, what do we do, if anything??

Personally, unless it's upsetting you/anyone I wouldn't do anything.

PelvicfloornomoreChocolate · 23/03/2007 21:22

Call a reliable medium, maybe they could help the spirit to move on?

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:22

not upsetting, per se...although a little weirdy!! when DH was telling me, i suddenly felt terribly sad , and felt my eyes fill up

how do i find a good medium, as opposed to a charlatan?

OP posts:
AnnabelCaramel · 23/03/2007 21:24

Maybe ask your local church?

Spidermama · 23/03/2007 21:24

I think you need to help them move on. This may involve discovering why he/they have not yet been able to. Traumatic event perhaps?

I would get in touch with a reliable medium as PFNM susggests.

PestoEasterMonster · 23/03/2007 21:25

When this happened to a friend of mine, we went to the local church and spoke to the pastor there. He had come across this sort of thing quite a lot and he arranged to go to my friend's house and do a sort of blessing. Anyway afterwards, they no longer had any more of these sort of visions/disturbances and everyone felt much more relaxed and calm in their house.

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:26

do you think, i am not a christian, tho!

thanks spider...

OP posts:
AnnabelCaramel · 23/03/2007 21:27

No, me neither, but they may have an idea? I quite like the idea if it's not causing trouble.

Spidermama · 23/03/2007 21:28

I just googled find a mediu, and there are loads, probably most of them dodgy.

If it were me I'd find one of those shops which sells crystals and witchy type stuff and has literatre about spiritualism. (I know the London and Brighton ones) and go in to ask the people there. I got a brilliant medium for my Grnadmother through them. They told the the name of some society of mediums but I can't remember what it was called. Anyway she was brilliant and only wanted to charge her expenses (bs fare there) and wouldn't take it when I tried to give her more. She was amazing and so obviously knew her stuff.

Anyway, that's what I'd do. I wish you luck.

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:29

it isn;t causing trouble, and i am not scared, nor is DH, i used to be sort of tuned in to this sort of thing, but as i have got older, i am not so tuned in....

just wonder if that was who / what DD could sense/see ? or if we have more than one presence

there is a spiritualist church near us, is that the sort of thing?

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:30

thanks spidermama....will try, there are some of those sorts of shops in town.

I would go to the local church as well. I bought a flat and had all sorts of goings on which were awful especially as I was living on my own. A spiritualist friend came over and all settled for a while and then started again. SO went to local church and vicar blessed flat. Went to bed that night and sounds weird but was like a summers day outside with birds singing as the awful atmosphere had lifted. Didn't last long though, boyfriend moved in who didn't see anything or believe and then we moved to his flat. It's veyr hard to know what to do but I think spiritualists and mediums can be seen to encourage such goins on where as the Christian church doesn't entertain the interest and when you find a good vicar who knows what he is doing can be very effective.

PestoEasterMonster · 23/03/2007 21:31

I went with my friend when it happened in her house. We just went to the local church (didn't matter that neither of us attended it). Vicar took us seriously and was extremely helpful. He came to her house within a couple of weeks and didn't charge anything. But my friend did give a small donation to the church.

Hillary · 23/03/2007 21:33

I'd get the house blessed just to be sure everythings tickety boo.

We have had alot of this in the past, its not someting to be scared of, you will only see them if they want you to. It shows you are an open caring person

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:33

okay ..so doesn;t have to be a spiritualist church?

OP posts:
PelvicfloornomoreChocolate · 23/03/2007 21:35

no .

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:37

Madoldcatlady · 23/03/2007 21:57

Oh, that's sad Lulu. Poor little boy. He should be with his family. I don't know anything about this from a mediums point of view, but I think I would try talking to him.
May not be the right thing to do, but he sounds like a lonely little boy.

lulumama · 23/03/2007 21:58

would you really?? how? we have only seen him twice in 4 1/2 years! don;t want to summon him up , particularly !!

OP posts:
lulumama · 23/03/2007 22:03

am off to bed....if anyone else has any more thoughts, please post them, i;ll check back in the morning!
thanks all

OP posts:
Madoldcatlady · 23/03/2007 22:06

I don't know really. Maybe sit on the stairs when you are alone in the house (that would be never for me!) and say hello. Ask who he is, why he's there.

It sounds a bit silly, but that's what I'd be inclined to do.

If you're worried about summoning him though, perhaps it would be better to call a "professional".

Bucketsofdynomite · 23/03/2007 22:06

You don't have to be churchy to ask a vicar for help , and they have more resources at their disposal than an amateur ghosthunter.

lulumama · 24/03/2007 08:56

thanks very much was a bit freaked out last night, and babylulu woke up a few times in the night teething , and i was worried what i might see in the middle of the night !

If you phone your local spiritualist church, they will find you a good, local medium. Or indeed the minister may come and do a little prayer etc him or herself. My local Spiritualist church minister is kept quite busy sorting out this sort of situation - it is very common.
