We have lived in our house, for around 4 1/2 years..it is almost 100 years old, and we know at least two people died in it......

Not long after we moved in, I was going to go downstairs to get a drink, and I switched on the landing light, and got the shock of my life, when I saw a young boy sat a couple of steps up from the bottom of the stairs..! i ran back into our room and refused to go downstairs.

When i was feeding DD in the night, i used to often get a cool breeze over my feet , and DD would stop feeding and look up and when she learnt to smile, she smiled at whatever was there....

anyhoo, the odd thing happened from time to time, and then tonight, when DH got home, he came running upstairs and said he had seen the boy. As he stepped into the porch to open the front door, he saw what he thought was DS running through the hall, into the lounge. When he got into the hall, he realised, the lounge door was closed and locked and DS then ran down the stairs to greet him !!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK!!

so, what do we do, if anything??

Lulu - contact your local spiritalist church and ask them to recommend someone rather than just picking a name out of the Yellow Pages.

madoldcatlady · 07/04/2007 00:00

We had lots of weird things happen here a couple of months ago. Lights were turning on and off as was the computer.Along with the odd bump in the night! I didn't take any direct action to resolve matters. They just seem to have fizzled out on their own. For now!

If you're upset by your happenings (I would be with the DVD in your bedroom) why not get someone in? You've nothing to lose!

BandofBunnies · 07/04/2007 09:17

I have heard to try asking too. Hillary, if the knees in the back are when you aren't paying attention or going too fast then i would say they are warning you and you should thank you. Apparently, and I heard this from a woman who saw things all the time. She worked in a Nursing home where you go to die, and I can't think what they're called now. She said if you suddenly get a feeling like you NEED to go and do something, then you should cos it's a spirit warning you. I have never forgotten that, and you should always say thankyou to them.
I once got a powerful urge to check dd1 when she was about 5 mths old and in her bed in her own room. I went in to her and just as I looked into her cot she started vomiting BIG time, but so quietly I never would've heard it. Boy did I thank them for that!!
I have never seen anything as I think I'm too scared, but I do get feelings. I lived in an old house 1600's and I had to run up the stairs, cos I got the feeling of an old lady, one had died there(and plenty of others I would think) And I ALWAYS felt watched.

Wierd

I know. Freaked me right out. The lady in the Hospice (knew my brain would remember eventually) said there was a man there who had died. He used to hang around in the supply closet looking sad. Eventually his wife went there and when she died, he disappeared. My aunt also said my Gran was always around my Grandad, until he died, then they both went.

My exh, in the States, didn't believe this woman when she spoke of his grandmother as she said she was wearing a pink suit, and in life she never did. When we were driving home from the party we saw a big group of deer in someone's garden on the road side, and he said, "okay then I'll believe it if we see more deer like that on the way home." We turned a corner a minute later, and on the edge of the road looking straight at us was the biggest deer I have ever seen. He nearly crashed the car. We sat and stared at it. It was staring right at us, so beautiful and really majestic. Then it turned and jumped away.

Still don't think it convinced him tho.

All quite fascinating lulu. Hope there's nothing too scary in the meantime, and do post an update!

lulumama · 07/04/2007 09:53

Don't blame you! Think I would be the same.

btw you said about your eyes filling up with tears as your dh was telling you about what he saw. Oddly enough that happens to me when I hear accounts of ghosts. Not like normal crying exactly but just involuntary tears that I really can't stop.

BandofBunnies · 07/04/2007 10:02

aDad, how wierd. It's soooooooooooo spoooooooky, when wierd things happen.

lulumama · 07/04/2007 10:06

really aDad....! crikey..so not just me who is a bit , i don;t know ! sensitive?!?!?

will definitely be calling the church after easter...

stupid question alert..they don;t use holy water and things to they?

Yep, friends laugh about it. Never had close up first hand experience though. Juast as well, I think it would be too much for my poor little head!

mustrunmore · 07/04/2007 10:10

I dont have much advice to offer, just eally posting to I dont forget where I've read up to! But we've got a ghost here, and been here 2 yrs. Ds1 has seen him alot in his bedroom (saw 'him' crying once, and he also said a boy was throwing his books round so he couldnt sleep), I've seen him once at the foot of the stairs, and we've all heard talking in the kitchen and alot of walking upstairs I'm wondering whether anything will ever cause an increase in happenings, or if it'll just be like this forever?

jampot · 07/04/2007 10:20

ds reckons he sees black figures in our house (although he does like Most Haunted) I humour him but the other day when sitting on our sofa which is in view from our kitchen door out of the corner of my eye I saw a black movement as though someone was peeking round the corner (sofa is at 90 degrees to kitchen door)

lulumama · 07/04/2007 14:00

thanks very much everyone xx
