Religions kill people

OP posts:
originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 12:14

That rewinds me, I need to go and clean the loo. All known germs. Dead.

Now I am become Death - the destroyer of germs worlds.

I thank you (bows).

remainderman · 06/04/2017 13:36

When losing an argument it is very wise to withdraw. However, if I draw a cartoon to ridicule religion, would you kill me, and why should religion be free from ridicule. Because I dont care if it offends you.

If you wish this debate can be opened to any issue with regard to religion

OP posts:
thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 06/04/2017 13:39

Looks like this isn't a debate thread but a thread to tell all people of faith that they are wrong.

Heard it before.

So maybe we play a version of sermon bingo. There are keywords and the first person to spot all of them shouts 'Richard Dawkins loves choral evensong'

Religion poisons everything (check)
Fairy tales
Spaghetti flying monster
Evidence
Faith schools
Christian privilege
Mocking religion (check)
All Christians are fools or are stupid
People of faith should not be respected
Science and religion are not compatible
Easter is a pagan festival
Jesus did not exist

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 13:42

Where's the debate though? Lobbing a few comments isn't a debate it's just trying to be contravercial.

This thread is too boring to even pass as mildly amusing. I'm going back to clean the bathroom.

Here's a debate topic - should employers give you a 'my house is a shittip so I need to stay home and clean it before environmental health arrive' day?

Discuss.

remainderman · 06/04/2017 13:50

Religion cannot move on it is stuck with all the old arguments. The more ridiculous they seem has science proves them wrong. Dont try the god of the gaps rubbish, even Lennox does not know when he is using it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 06/04/2017 13:51

It depends OP, poorly drawn cartoons and badly written satire certainly makes me more homicidal than usual. Do you by any chance have a pacemaker?

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 13:57

I think the op has a book or pamphlet they are coping sound bites from.

remainderman · 06/04/2017 13:59

Physics is the branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. The subject matter of physics includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. None of these are supernatural and are
the physical properties and phenomena of something.

OP posts:
DioneTheDiabolist · 06/04/2017 14:14

I was about to perform an experiment with magnets when my old chemistry teacher stopped me and made me return them to the physics lab. They weren't very keen on that sort of thing. Maybe it was because it was a Catholic school. Mind you they got fairly pissy with me when I poisoned people too. I was given a stern telling off and a detention, so I can't agree with you that they were pro poisoning OP.

DevelopingDetritus · 06/04/2017 14:30

creating a conceptual space in which you ponder that which is beyond the human, or the extraordinary nature of being Oow. I like that. Would class that as being spiritual more than religious though.

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 14:41

Beyond human. Like Superman? My super power would be juggling.

remainderman · 06/04/2017 14:57

No I am just very intelligent, so do not be intimidated

OP posts:
Sodomeyes · 06/04/2017 14:57

Original My superpower would be invisibility.

I've looked on Google Maps and in the AA Road Atlas but I can't find the Road to Domestos Sad

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 15:05

My superpower is actually smelling bullshit.

It's ok OP, us mortal aren't cowering in fear, and trembling at your magnificence.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2017 15:06

It's a pity 'domestos' isn't a better pun on 'Damascus' ... and the 99% 'statistic' is clearly wrong so that joke was a bit of a fail.

Lots of us are very intelligent too. Some of us are scientists, some are atheists. Quite a lot of us have many decades of lived experience.

I am no fan of religion, and a total non-supernaturalist, but if religions were as wholly negative as the OP suggests then I very much doubt they would have evolved and flourished in the way they have.

remainderman · 06/04/2017 16:37

Not flourishing anymore, in fact christianity and many other religions are in decline, only Islam seems to buck the trend

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 16:41

This is a very slow and boring thread. I'm off to clean under the sofa.

LivingForHim · 06/04/2017 16:41

Funny how religion to you is poisonous yet the numbers of those who believe are declining whilst crime and immoral behaviour are increasing.

Religion and God exist to teach people about morals.

lazytuesday · 06/04/2017 16:42

do you know what really kills people? Intolerance and rigidity of thought. If you think your worldview is Right and beyond criticism. If you are unable to accept that other people may have different needs and experiences to you. If you are unable to accept the humanity of people who have very different ideas or approaches to life. An ingrained sense of superiority and entitlement.

All things that the OP is presenting in everything they post.

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 17:24

In my experience it's heart disease, cancer and strokes that kills people. And car accidents.

Don't give the OP a hard time. The holidays can be long and boring for some kids.

DevelopingDetritus · 06/04/2017 17:25

Beyond human. Like Superman? My super power would be juggling. You're a closed book my friend.

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 17:27

Technically Superman was an alien wasn't he?

And you never know when you need to be able to juggle. It could save your life one day...

PrettyRicky · 06/04/2017 17:28

I was just glancing down Active Conversations and misread the thread title as Religious Pigeons Everywhere

That thread would probably have made more sense to be fair

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2017 17:33

I think Peter Kay might have something to say about you stealing his "road to domestos" line Grin
