never got to wwdp service as mil has been taken into hospital and had to go pick him up and now he's driven 150 miles to go see her. She went for test results on Tues and they said they couldn't rule out cancer and were putting her for an urgent op, but she is just getting weaker and not eating/drinking anything.

worzella · 02/03/2007 21:51

Praying for you LWTG - life seems to be tough for you at the moment. Hope you find some strength and peace

Great news PODMOG - hope he continues to thrive

MARYBS - Thanks for the link to the bible study thread - i'll read and post on it at some point over the weekend

Hi to everyone else too - the worzels are good at the moment - DS2 is contrary with food but his sleeping is now great - I guess you can't have it all!

longwaytogoandabitfurther · 02/03/2007 22:11

Hey don't worry about me I feel quite resolved to whatever is going on at the moment.

Can't quite get my head round how this all fits in with God's plan but there we go.

worzella · 02/03/2007 22:15

Good that you ar feeling OK - wouldn't it be good if we could have a snapshot of God's plan!

longwaytogoandabitfurther · 02/03/2007 22:26

gosh wouldn't it just because for us for the last 20 months it all seems to have spiraled totally out of control - in my eyes anyway.

Even though I do believe that God holds us in his hands I cannot get my head round what all this is about.

But its like someone said what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Well at some points i'm not sure what its doing but hey ho

worzella · 02/03/2007 22:34

I do think that we are changed for the better in the desert places although it's hard at the time...

harrisey · 03/03/2007 00:51

Here I am, turning up again after having gone AWOL due to major stressing out about lots of stuff which is now sorted! Had a lot of college work which was very boring, we all had awful colds, really, I've hardly been here except for a quick lurk, since Christmas!
We're well now, very well. Coming up to essay deadlines etc for bible college now so we're busy, but not too bad.
There's been a couple of good developments to give thanks for and pray about what happens next.
Firstly, we have set a date and are being baptised on 25th March! After all the agonising about it, its nice to have a decision. Its a morning service baptism so the children can be there as well, and we havea lot of friends and family showng up too.
Secondly, we've just done our first application for our long term aim of workign overseas. We think we might be able to go to Central America with Latin Link , they are so interested in supporting us that they have asked us to speak at the Scottish Conference in the Autumn.
And lastly, I tool on MORE responsibility this week. I've been asked to join the new Student Council at our Bible College ICC and have said yes. My job is encouraging and supporting prayer and the building of prayer communities in the college, as well as being part of the work of the council, which involves the Welcome Days for new students, Fellowship Days each term and the college weekend away.

If you could pray for the harrisey family with all of this going on I;d really appreciate it. Mr harrisey will have to pick up some of the slack while I am doing council stuff, and we are both a bit on edge about finally having filled out the 'application for Long Term Service in Latin America' forms.

Nice to be back though!

Notquitegrownup · 03/03/2007 08:35

Good morning all.

Welcome back Harrisey! Exciting plans - especially good to hear you are going to be baptised . It will be wonderful. Prayers for you all at this time.

LWTG - your faith is really inspirational, Hon. You are going through the toughest of times, and it is very, very clear which rock you are standing on. Praying that you will know His peace and His joy in your life too.

Praying for energy for you, Mufti. Still looking forward to sleep in the Notquite household, as ds2 still wakes once a night. Not too grim, but I do like my sleep!

Hurrah for baby Pudmog! Yeah to bfing

Hi Worzella

I do know what it like to believe that everything is in God's hands and that He IS in control, but to just not feel it or understand where on earth he can be in the situation. Wish I could do more to help practically...

Praying for rest and work life balance for lots of us! CD, how you doing today flower?

Glad your idea has been accepted Mary!

I had a second training day for my nw job yesterday - in fact I wa so busy I left the house for the scholl run yesterday morning, and did not return until 10 this morning!

love to you all
Pxx

Twiga · 03/03/2007 16:41

Hi, just nipping in quickly to say please pray for our God-daughter (12 months old) - she was admitted to hospital today. She's been unwell with a cold type thing for the last 5 weeks and on top of that now has sickness bug, is in because she needs a drip as dehydrated and needing monitored. Don't think it's serious a such but she's so little and her parents will be worrying themselves sick.

MaryBS · 03/03/2007 19:38

Where 2 or 3 are gathered... we were a select gathering tonight at church (3!) for a "Stations of the Cross" service. I'm not sure if we should pray for more people or not, as next week I've been given the responsibility of leading it! Wow, it was so so powerful. Really brings it home how Jesus must have suffered for us in his journey to the cross.

I was awake again in the night and I felt SO tired, I'd basically had enough, and prayed "Lord I REALLY can't do this!". I get so tired it hurts sometimes. My prayers were answered, because when I DID get to sleep, I (and the children) didn't wake till 7:30. I've felt so much better today! I even got moving on the Emmaus group - contacting the people who are leading the other sessions and organising a meeting with them, and telling them about what I'd decided we would be doing, and I finally feel I've got a handle on the project! That dream really helped!

Good news on my friend's adoption - it goes through on the 14 March! She will be SUCH a good mummy! My Dbro and SIL's adoptions of their 2 go through on 26 March. Tomorrow they go to church for the first time as a family (my Dbro has taken a demotion so he no longer has to work Sundays). Once the children are theirs, they will be having them baptised. This is such good news as my brother very rarely goes to church and it sounds like he is being brought back to God, along with his entire family.

Also good news on that priest. Following surgery to remove a bullet from his lung, he has made good progress. God be praised, for he is such a good man and does good work.

Twiga - praying for your God-daughter, the poor little mite - and for her parents too.

Hi Panda - how was the Spa? Sounds fantastic! How's the job going then?

NQGrownup - praying for some quality sleep and rest for you too! How's your calmness and perspective doing? If I can help at all, let me know!

Hi Harrisey - don't you overdo it now! Praying for strength for you and your DH! So wonderful that you're doing this together! I can picture you doing a really good job for those new students!

LWTG - tonight at SOTC, one of the prayers was for those with a long way to go - and I thought of you and smiled - it was like it had been written for you! God's strength be with you and your family, may He lift you up and support you. Praying for your MIL

Mufti - praying for some rest for you. Did you go to your Christian conference? How is DS?

RL -how did the wedding go? I don't expect to see you posting tonight! I bought a fantastic book today, can't remember what its called, but I haven't been able to but it down - it was the ++ABC's lent book for 2006, and I saw it in a charity shop and bought it.

Podmog - so pleased your little chap has put on weight!

MTGAA - how's your complicated life?
Praying for you and with you! May He guide you in His will for you.

Hi Worzella, how are you this evening?

God bless all, especially those I've not mentioned! Feeling particularly prayerful now, which is a good thing, as I've intercessions to write for tomorrow!

CaptainDippy · 03/03/2007 20:09

It is soooo hard when they go through these phases and you are knocked off your feet cos you are totally unprepared (I speak from experience here, trust me!! ) Did you get to the Conference?? Praying that he settles down asap and lets you have some good nights. xx

Podmog - Fabtastic news! Go MiniPod! Long may it continue..... Hope you are feeling more happy and confident!!

lwtg - [[hugs]] Cont to pray for you and your family sweetie - God has a way in all of this, I know He does.....How is you MIL? Praying for her - a difficult time.

worzella - I think as long as DS is eating "something" and getting enough fluid etc - I would rather have the sleep tbh!! Enjoy it!! ...but praying he would eat better soon too!

harrisey - Gosh, you sound busy!!!!!! Great to "see" you - you have been missed! Praying that you would find time to rest in God in all this busy-ness and to be together as family too cos that is v.important. Fab news about your Baptisms and the opportunities to go abroad - All so exciting! Praying God's will be done all this ..... Praying for you as you take on the extra resposibility of the Student Council too - and for the exams / essays / work you are doing at college too - FIND TIME TO RELAX!!!!!! That is an order, young lady!!

Twiga - Praying for your God-Daughter - please, please let us know when you find out more ..... How are you doing as well hon??

Mary - Glad you got some good sleep, makes such a difference, doesn't it!!!? Great news about your friend's imminient adoption - praying for them and the new little person who is soon to come into their lives!! How are you doing? Hope you are finding time to yourself (and God!!) too, young lady!!

Dinner will be ready in a mo, so I had best make tracks - Please pray for next couple of days as the Dippy's get ready for their holiday - Lots to do, my head is so wibbly and feeling rather stressed ..... Eeeeek!! Also for horrendeous cough I've developed for bruising that keeps appearing all over my legs - Does anyone know if this is a sign of anything? Should I be worried??

OP posts:
mufti · 03/03/2007 20:15

hi ,mary, is the dbro adopting the same one who had to go to iraq, or was that bil?
thanks for asking, well, took ds to doc and he has an upper respitory sp? tract infection, just got to give him calpol. he didnt cough so much last night , woke at 4.30, but thankfully went off again,i was so glad as i had set the alarm for 6.30, just in case he slept through! , as i had to set off before 8, and i knew if he didnt go back off and i had to feed him then , i probably wouldnt get anymore sleep. as it was the alarm woke us all, and i felt a little tired at times in the day but much better.
and it was a lovely day. really lively praise and worship, just the type i like , some great testimonies, overall very uplifting.

mufti · 03/03/2007 20:19

hi cd - you must have been posting as i was!
he is also teething, poor lamb, or should i say not teething , and seems to have a lot of pain with them
wheres the holiday?
hope it is a great one
not sure about bruising, you could ring nhs direct, if only for peace of mind..

MaryBS · 03/03/2007 20:27

Mufti, I have 4 brothers (and 1 sister). The one that's adopting is my younger brother, not the one in Iraq. He and his wife tried for years to have children, first "naturally" then IVF, now they are adopting. Glad you got some sleep and glad you had a lovely day today!

Hi CD! Do you have any pain in your legs?
I know you have more blood in you when you are pregnant, and can be prone to varicose veins so I googled:

bruising in pregnancy

Which sounds fine, but I also found this:

low platelets

So I would get it checked if I were you...

As for time to myself and God - found that tonight - really spiritual - I won't say uplifting because dwelling on Christ's death is always a sobering thought (but a good activity for Lent, prior to bursting into spontaneous happiness at His resurrection ).

Anyone watching the eclipse tonight?

CaptainDippy · 03/03/2007 22:44

Glad the Conference was good mufti and that DS seems better - good stuff - Praying it continues .....

Hi Mary - Thank you for the links - think I'll go to see the dr on Monday - could be blood clotting stuff - just hoping it is nothing serious. Gosh - you have a lot of siblings, I am an only child, but was bought up in a foster home full of brothers and sisters from the age of 10. Didn't even know there was an eclipse tonight! No, I've got no pain in my legs.

Mufti - I am off to Bonny Scotland with DH and the girls.

Sorry this is all a bit disjointed - I feel a bit disjointed atm, tbh!!

See you tomorrow ........

OP posts:
mumtogusnalbie · 03/03/2007 22:47

Hi everyone - a really flying visit tonight because I really wanted to be in bed hours ago. I feel I have really failed at the first hurdle because I have not yet found time to read the first Bible passage but I am determined to do it tomorrow because I really want to get more familiar with the word of God.

MaryBS - my complicated life is really complicated. Spent the day with H and kids today. We went to the beach and had ice-cream and fed the ducks. Really good day but on the flip-side H asked me about not wearing wedding rings. I told him that I just didn't think we could ever work as a couple because I would want him to give up drink and recreational drugs. He was very quiet for a while and I thought he was going to go home but to his credit he stayed and helped with bath time and put the boys to bed. Not really sure whats going through his mind though as he said he still wanted to get together - then smoked a joint. Not really the actions of someone desparate to reunite his family IMO.

Looking forward to Church tomorrow and some time for reflection.

Anyway - really have to go to bed now because my eyes are almost closed typing this and have to scrape my contacts off them before they close completely!!

God Bless everyone - am praying for all.
xxxx

CaptainDippy · 03/03/2007 22:56

Awwww, MTGAA - [[hugs]] I cannot even being to imagine what you are going through hon. You are so strong and so lovely. God bless you and your precious boys. xxxx

worzella · 03/03/2007 23:35

Hi everyone - praying for you all

Mtgaa - sounds like DH needs help - good that you could have a good day together - hope that he decides to make a real effort...

I spent the sfternoon with Pandag and other MNetters in the Spa in Sheffield - very recommendable... in fact have the small pandas asleeep upstairs at the moment ... should go to bed really as all 5 kids will be up far too early tomorrow! (3 are ours BTW)

Saw the Lunar eclipse...

BTW - MaryBS - do you have a mathe background - I think I saw it on another thread some time ago!! I'm sa secondary maths teacher BTW!

Hi to everone else too....

Notquitegrownup · 04/03/2007 11:09

Good morning all

Gosh, I'm getting a lot out of this thread at the moment. Thank you for your prayers folks. Much appreciated.

Mtgaa - so glad that you could have a good day with your h. IME, people rarely change in a hurry, but you have been strong in creating a space for your family to be safe in, and for him to think about things. In some ways, it must be soooo emotionally hard for you, still having contact with him, but for your boys' sakes, it is so good that they can still spend time with you together, and you never know. He may be able to take on board the things that you are saying and see that he needs to change. He's clearly got a lot to do, and a long way to go. Praying for him and for you too, to keep strong in your resolve.

Mary, thank you for the offer of help. Just think that some supporting prayer is what is needed now. It's good to know we can all come here and ask. Praying for you and yours.

at your prayer for those with a long way to go. That's nice! I smiled last week, whilst praying for you all, suddenly picturing a quizzical face in heaven as I mentioned several mumsnetters by name . . .

Praying for those legs CD. Sounds worth a visit to get them checked out.

So glad the conference went well, Mufti. Ahhhh, sleep. It's such good stuff, isn't it?!

Hi to everone else too. God bless all.

roseylea · 04/03/2007 12:39

Hello all!

M2G&A - that must have been hard, saying tat to your h. [[hugs]]

Cd are you off to see Bobsmum soon? Have a fab time if so, and say hi from me!

Mary the stations of the cross service sounds very moving. I can so understand your tiredness! I'm praying for good solid nights' sleep for you atm! What's the name of the book you're reading?

Hi Harrissey! Nice to see you again! Sounds like life is exciting and very full for you! I pray that your baptism service will be such a special gift from God.

Twiga I will pray for your god-daughter.

Well my BIL's wedding went well yesterday - it was a civil ceremony held in the most beautiful castle. Dh and I both felt that the ceremony was a bit soulless - it was only about 15 mins long, no singing, just two readings and then straight onto all the legal stuff. Oh well. Dh was best man and he did a great job of supporting his brother. The dcs were so well behaved - I was very proud of them! Dd (4.5 yo) laughed loudly at all the jokes in the speeches - bless! It was a special day, but it made me realise how much the church service, and having God at the centre, was so much the heart of our wedding day (and hopefully our life together). Sorry if that sounds pompous!

CaptainDippy · 04/03/2007 13:04

Hello - popping in, should really be packing ...... eeeek!! Yes, I am off to see bobsmum and co on Tuesday - v.nervous and excited!! So lovely of them to have us (also a wee bit crazy!!)

Glad your BIL's Wedding went well Rosey - great stuff - was praying for you sweetie! I find Civil Ceremonies v.weird - often beauitful settings, but so devoid of ...... well ...... God and the Spiritual aspect of it all, iykwim!!? V.sad, me thinks. am pleased it was lovely though and the DC's were so good!

Mmmmmmmm.......

Still got nasty cough yuk yuk yuk.

Best get on, but will pop back later ...

marybs God works in mysterious ways aye! You lot are all fab, and i'm sure that without you I would not cope.

Ended up going to the church that we were ministers at this morning and if nothing else it confirmed that leaving there was such the right thing to do - especially in terms of the children They are all lovely, lovely people but nothing there for dc at all.

Have also been to a christening service this afternoon and going to 'our' church this eve.

mil is much the same atm. h not coming home till tues lo's keep asking where he is and atm I can say he's at nanny's but what do I say once he's moved out.

Had to take my mum who was here to look after me after op this week to emergency dentist as she has an abcess - now on a'bs.

I am tired but not much chance of a rest off to church soon.
