Anyone willing to hold my hand during discernment process?

I'm exploring a call to ordination in the Church of England - met the DDO before Christmas and have a meeting with the bishop's advisor tomorrow to begin the process of applying for an archbishop's faculty as I'm divorced and remarried.

I'd love some support and advice if anyone's been through similar?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your prayers, Elphaba and BM. Welcome, Bechet - exciting news! It's a long journey - and whatever the BAP says there are challenges ahead . Are you relocating?

Good luck everyone

Bechetdiagnosed · 04/06/2018 22:00

No we aren’t relocating. DH is commuting one day a week to St Mellitus. This is great for our children as they are not having to change schools! DH is doing a mixed mode degree.

I remember the waiting to hear from the Bishop. It was a tense time. DH was recommended with conditions and has spent the last 12 months meeting the conditions. Now he has done that he can commence full time training.

It’s all very exciting Grin

I’ve never heard of that bechet - would you mind explaining the kind of thing that can be a condition?

I went to a friends welcome service for a new chaplaincy post tonight. Lovely.

Bechetdiagnosed · 05/06/2018 06:03

It is quite common to be given a conditional recommendation. The conditions are targets that need to be meet within 12 months to proceed onto training.

DH had to undertake some part time study to meet his conditions.

EddSimcox · 05/06/2018 22:35

Thanks.

Well, I'm off to my BAP type thing this weekend. Have been faffing with packing tonight, it's very cold at the moment so lots of jumpers and scarves are in the suitcase. Mulling over it all this week I've tried my best not to worry!

thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 07/06/2018 16:18

Good luck Monty and I hope the wait for the result isn't too stressful Mini.

Minicooper · 07/06/2018 17:46

Hope it goes well Monty - praying for fun people to spend time with and that you come home feeling satisfied that you've been able to be yourself. When should you get your result?

Thanks, Greenheart - the waiting is getting more difficult - hopefully should hear tomorrow....x

Brilliant news and breathe.....

EddSimcox · 09/06/2018 16:09

Yay! Well done mini Grin

Be interested to hear how St Mellitus is when you get there (though I think if I ever get that far I might have to go to St Augustine’s)

Tiggles · 09/06/2018 22:09

Yay mini! Congratulations!

Montypontypine · 10/06/2018 05:47

Excellent news Mini!

I've just back home and I'm absolutely exhausted. I met some great people and ate far too much food. A very intense weekend! I was at Vaughan Park which is just north of Auckland. It has the most fabulous little chapel overlooking the Ocean where we had a lovely dawn Eucharist this morning. It's all in God's hands now.

Minicooper · 10/06/2018 19:46

Well done, Monty. It felt a real relief to be home and know that there was nothing more I could do. And dawn eucharist overlooking the ocean sounds perfect! When should you hear?x

Montypontypine · 10/06/2018 20:58

I'll hear by the end of next week.

Montypontypine · 11/06/2018 01:00

This is the little chapel at the retreat centre I was at, a very special place

Monty that looks like a beautiful place to celebrate the Eucharist, and at dawn too. It sounds absolutely wonderful.

You are in my prayers as you wait to hear. Keep busy, keep praying and keep smiling.
