Lovely church service today - Remembrance Sunday. Church was packed with people paying their respects. Nice to see it so full, shame its not every week! DD and DS went to Sunday Club again - so pleased that it really seems to be working out. Praise God!

Spoke with our choirmaster afterwards - Friday he starts teaching me to sing Evensong, so that I'll be able to lead worship! (I've only been to Evensong once... ). Teased DH that I'd got a date with another man...

CD - how's your eczema been without your cream - did you find it? . What's happening about your house? Have you heard from Nanou yet? Strange for her to be missing so long...

Harrisey - praying for you and your DH, that God will guide you and help you with your work.

LWTG - praying for your DS tomorrow, and for Him to bring comfort and peace to you to.

The news on Judy is that the cancer has spread to her liver. Sound very difficult. Judy asks that "God's will be done". Brave lady, as is her daughter. Praying hard for them both. May God have mercy.

Hi all

just back from family weekend - Mum was delighted that we had gone down to surprise her for her birthday, so that was good!

POdmog - sorry to hear you are unwell - how long is the bedrest for? will pray for you. Re the temple, not sure how I feel tbh. It is after all only a room in a building, and I would take off shoes or cover shoulders etc. if I were visiting somewhere to look round as a tourist so no to cause offence iyswim, so think perhaps I wouldn't mind too much. Could you not choose to tell God that you are honoring him by removing yoyur shoes, not the hindu gods that you do not believe in? I know I sometimes remove my shoes in church during worship, if I feel I am standing on holy ground.

'drather, I'm not sure who you are either, am I having a blip?

Harrisey, will pray for your workload.

Mary, I know I dread the simplest of things if it isd the first time they have happened. Praying for peace for you for Tuesday.

Longway - praying for your DS for tomorrow, and that you get the logistics sorted.

xx

CaptainDippy · 12/11/2006 19:36

No, I haven't found my cream, excema hasn't been too bad, but v.sore and itchy - yuk! Hoping I can find time to go and see GP tomorrow, it hurts!! Keep praying.....

Oh Mary, so about Judy - praying for her as she takes it "one day at a time...." Keep us posted.....

Going to bed soon, so tired!!

Hi Panda!! Glad you had a lovely w/e and your mum enjoyed her surprise visit!

I have to admit, Drather has got me a bit stumped too - Is it Sooz?????? NQSTM?????

Hullo - I'm here and it's not me. I'm not Welsh and certainly don't have four little ones. Though my two have more than enough energy to feel as if I have four!

Drbd - I felt that going back to work gave me some me time too, and helped the pnd for a while too. If it is the right job for you . . .

Sooz, totally agree that when you are depressed, you can't put others first, you have to get yourself right first. Depression is an illness. Jesus healed Peter's motherinlaw, and then she got up and looked after Him. He didn't expect her to serve Him whilst she was still ill.

Sooz, and anyone else struggling with depression - I've been reading a super book "Emotionally Free" by Rita Bennett. It's all about praying creatively about hurts in your past, by visualising Jesus being there with you. I've found it hugely, hugely helpful (and have just checked - it's available on Amazon.) It's a very light read. Nothing too heavy or demanding.

Got to fly as dh needs the computer.

God bless all.

longwaytogo · 12/11/2006 20:23

Really am not looking forward to tomorrow.

Dh and I have had an awful w/e he's not been well or so he says and took to his bed all day today. He's been miserable all w/e and I hate it when he's like that because it jsut reminds me of what he was like 18 months 2 years ago when things really started to go wrong between us.

CD - too right I'm getting involved! I get quite excited about it when I'm not stressing - truly honoured and truly blessed to be called .
Three parishes and 1 priest, means he spreads himself thinly. Lots for me to do! Maybe thats WHY I was called? As I always say "God knows"!!!

LWTG - maybe he's really worried about tomorrow too? Praying for you all. The Lord is with you.

Podmog - I wasn't too sure what to post about the buddhism centre - its not something I've had much experience with. From what I recalled though, it wasn't a religion as such, more a way of life. So I googled buddhism, and found this:

BBC on buddhism

I took comfort in the fact that buddhists don't worship gods or deities - so no problem with idolatry or being in the presence of "false" gods. And removing shoes is a matter of respect, something you might do in a friend's house. So, whereas I might have been concerned before, having read a bit more, I probably wouldn't be so worried. Having said that, if they have lots of meeting rooms, seems strange they are using THIS one?

DRBD - I'm not picking up on the clues either, feeling a bit dim tonight!

As for me, going to church did me a power of good. I need to trust the Lord more. Whatever happens is His will. As in my benediction the other week "may the power of the Lord Jesus strengthen us in His service". In fact, that whole prayer I can't get out of my head, and I was so worried about remembering it on the night

Remember what I said about things in my past happening for a reason? That I could use my experiences to help people? I think that's starting to happen... please pray for strength for me to help people who turn to me. My heart aches with what people have gone through...

MaryBS · 12/11/2006 21:03

Podmog, found this Q&A buried in that lot on buddhism:

"If the Buddha is not a god, then why do people worship him?

There are different types of worship. When someone worships a god, they praise him or her, making offerings and ask for favours, believing that the god will hear their praise, receive their offerings and answer their prayers. Buddhists do not indulge in this kind of worship. The other kind of worship is when we show respect to someone or something we admire. When a teacher walks into a room we stand up, when we meet a dignitary we shake hands, when the national anthem is played we salute. These are all gestures of respect and worship and indicate our admiration for persons and things. This is the type of worship Buddhist practise. A statue of the Buddha with its hands rested gently in its lap and its compassionate smile reminds us to strive to develop peace and love within ourselves. The perfume of incense reminds us of the pervading influence of virtue, the lamp reminds us of light of knowledge and the flowers which soon fade and die, reminds us of impermanence. When we bow, we express our gratitude to the Buddha for what his teachings have given us. This is the nature of Buddhist worship. "

Does that help? Fascinating isn't it?

worzella · 12/11/2006 22:05

LWTG - praying for tomorrow - that all goes well

MaryBS - I'm sure that your tutor is only there to encourage you and help you. You sound very wise from the stuff you post on MN and seem very diligent so I'm sure Tuesday will be OK

DS2 by the way still has a swollen mouth and isn't eating much but is happier in himself

worzella · 12/11/2006 22:13

Podmog - praying for you and the baby - make the most of the bed rest and don't feel too bad about DH - I agree with MaryBS about the Buddist Centre thing and with PandaG about taking shoes off when being a tourist ... hope you feel more comfortable about going and that you can make it there this week

CD- hope the eczema gets better quickly and that you'll only have to use the steroid cream briefly

I've no idea who diggin is - even the bore da didn't mean anything to me until I saw someone elses post - so sorry no help!

katzg · 12/11/2006 22:41

just had a phone call say my FIL isn't going to make it through the night.

katzg · 13/11/2006 00:01

FIL passed away a little while ago

2babies · 13/11/2006 04:03

Hi, I am relatively new to this website, but could use prayers that our house sells soon - it is causing a lot of stress in our house. Thanks.

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2006 04:18

oh katzg, did dh make it in time? very sorry to hear about your FiL.

MaryBS · 13/11/2006 07:32

Katz - sorry to hear about your FIL. Praying for you and your family

2babies - praying for the house situation. I know what it feels like to be in that situation. Funnily enough, we probably wouldn't have bought this house if it hadn't been for the fact our own house took so long to sell. Now, its turned out to be the best thing that could have happened (especially re: me and church).

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2006 08:01

Morning - Soooo tired!!

2babies - Hello and Welcome!! Praying for your house move - DH and I are in the process of moving house too - lots of hold ups, but hopefully we'll be in by Christmas - praying the same for you honey!! Keep us posted ....

Worzella - Glad that poor little DS is happier, hope his mouth continues to heal well, poor mite!

Oh katz - I am so sorry to hear about your FIL. Praying for you and your DH and his family. Do let us know when the funeral will be. [hugs] and prayers. xxxxx

I had a REALLY bad week last week (I know, I shoudl have told you more about it at the time, but I just felt so low) Please please pray this week is better and feel more and positive - Thank you!!

Hello NQSTM and Mary - Great to "see" you both!!

Good morning!

Katz I'm praying for you all today. May God surround you in his love and comfort.

CD I'm praying that you would have a a great week and that your spirits will be lifted! Remember you don't have to be the strong one on this thread, you can rant and vent just like the rest of us do!

Hi 2babies. I'm praying that your house sells. It is very stressful, isn't it?

Podmog I'd agree with what the others said about buddhist temples. I've been in a few! I always pry for the power of Jesus to be with me strongly in those kind of places and also for him to show me how to pray as I walk around / whatever I'm doing (I've been in some buddhist countries where I've had to go to things in temples and I've always used them as opportiunities to pray for buddhists quietly). 'He who is in you is greater then he who is in the world'!

Well I have a stink nasty coldy cold! I'm off work today. Had a funy weekend - yesterday I reached boiling point about the state of the house so dh and I had a big war council and decided how to tackle all the mess! Since I've been back at work I have had so little time for housework and we can't afford a cleaner Maybe next term when I'm paying less childcare we might be able to have one.

anyway ahve a good day! God bless xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Notquitesotiredmum · 13/11/2006 09:49

Bother. Just lost a long post.

Special prayers for you LWTG. Thinking of you and your little one today. My dh does that beingillandgoingtobed thing when life gets too much for him. I find that it helps if I can sneak away from the boys and take him tea, cake, paracetamol now and then. I know that it is worrying for you, but it doesn't mean that you are going back to square one. It might just be that he is tired/ in need of TLC.

Special prayers for you and your family Katzg and for all of those on this list feeling low/poorly/in need of support.

God bless all.

PandaG · 13/11/2006 09:58

Morning all

Katz - I am so sorry to hear your news, please let me know if there is anything practical I can do - childcare etc., praying for you , DH and family

CD - sorry to hear last week was hard. will pray that God holds you in his arms, and that you will soar on wings like eagles. [hugs].

Podmog, how are you doing today?

Sory if I've missed someone, hurrying to post before my mindees arrive!

Love to you all

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2006 10:17

Awww, thank you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers - really neeeding them right now. No idea why I am struggling so much. Feel a bit pathetic. Like the idea of "soaring on wings like Eagles" PandaG -

Hope the strategies you came up with at your War Council (LOL) are successful and you manage to get the house a bit tidier Texas - I hate that over-whelming feeling; but you do have a job, children and a new course to concentrate on, so don't beat yourself up too much - They'll be years and years in the future for cleaning and tidying - enjoy your job / children / DH / course / church etc while you can!!!! [hugs]

Glad you have people to help you Podmog - hope you feel better soon honey - Praying for you. [[hugs]]

Hope everything goes smoothly today lwtg - thinking of you and praying ..... [hugs]
