Pruni · 28/03/2006 19:01

Are you serious, md??????

moondog · 28/03/2006 19:03

Well half joking..
I like his stuff!
Don't agree with it all but like it.
Also wonder where he gets the time to put it all down (bit like Peacedove)

OP posts:
Pruni · 28/03/2006 19:06

Hmm
I enjoy MN for the fact that style is neither here nor there but content (usually) abounds

tamum · 28/03/2006 19:18

Me too Pruni.

Papillon · 28/03/2006 19:39

I thought style was everything and helps carry off content.

baby very well MD charming the pants off everyone

Pruni · 29/03/2006 09:16

It helps, papillon, but if you're going to post on a site chock full of bright, well-educated people (even if they are only women with 'soft' PhDs) then you'd better be sure the content is up to scratch, iykwim.

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2006 09:25

What is it that appeals Moondog?

JoolsToo · 29/03/2006 09:33

quite profilic isn't he?

a man with a mission

moondog · 29/03/2006 09:34

Hmm,would describe it as intelligent right wing ideas....always refreshing I find.

Tommy · 29/03/2006 09:51

I think he is a lapsed and bitter Catholic - poss an ex priest or seminarian

moondog · 29/03/2006 09:52

lol

OP posts:
Tortington · 29/03/2006 09:57

deffo anti catholic.

i have to read everything he posts twice - becuase despite my university education he words things very arsily imo. and enjoys the fact that language used in that way can be both scarey and exclusive.

but he has an opinion thats for sure and isn't afraid of saying what he thinks - and i like that. too many people smoochy smooth brown nose

CarolinaMoon · 29/03/2006 09:59

and incredibly anti-Irish.

He'll think we fancy him if he hears us talking about him like this Wink

FairyMum · 29/03/2006 10:02

I think DominiConnor is female by the way?

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2006 10:02

only twice custardoGrin

I think it's a writing style which implies what you have written is intellectually rigorous but is in fact verbiage.

Kathy1972 · 29/03/2006 10:05

He he, I want to sit him down like one of my students and say 'Now DC, there is a lot of good stuff in what you write but you have a tendency to generalise, and your writing style sometimes gets in the way of what you're trying to say.'

Yay, now I've out-patronised DC! Grin

moondog · 29/03/2006 10:09

Ah that's a bit mean!
He might go overboard semantically and syntactically but at least it's coherent, unlike some of the half witted urban prole type English used here all to frequently.

OP posts:
moondog · 29/03/2006 10:09

'too frequently'

OP posts:
Kathy1972 · 29/03/2006 10:12

Yeah, but he does generalise, and I do think he'd convince more people if he wrote more clearly - he does make good points which get lost.
Wouldn't dream of pulling to pieces any other Mumsnetter's writing style like this but I'm sure DC can take it Grin

Tommy · 29/03/2006 10:12

Fairymum - why do you think DC is female?

katyp · 29/03/2006 10:13

No definitely male fairymum
