How do I tell my mum!

amummyy · 14/11/2022 23:56

So I just got a puppy but my mum hasn't said yes to it yet.

Me and the dog are currently hiding in my room. How do I tell her I got it!😭😂

@ZooTropia she used the pads and I took them out, she was in target every time

Hopefully getting your own flat? So you don't even know?
Yeah YABU - and ttc, and living at your mums, whole thing is a disaster tbh.

@ladydimitrescu you can have a dog, be ttc and also live with your mum... you're so judgemental 😂😂 I'm here happy while you're miserable judging people because there situation is the same as yours.

Because I'm getting my own flat, hopefully tomorrow... I said this already.

And does your landlord know you have a dog?

Floralnomad · 15/11/2022 10:47

@amummyy train the dog to go outside to the toilet , it’s useless training her on pads as all it’s doing is praising the dog for doing it’s business indoors .

amummyy · 15/11/2022 10:49

@Floralnomad She is getting her second vaccine this afternoon so will be using the pads for now, I am keen for her to get potty training locked down and will take lots of time and patience to teach her

I'd put a bet on this poor dog ending up in a rescue shelter...

DuchessDandelion · 15/11/2022 11:39

@amummyy what type of dog is she??

Glad it worked out with your mum

CarrieOnStop · 15/11/2022 12:04

The dog should be put outside to do it's business, using the pads is learning it it's ok to do it indoors

My God. So many of you are miserable AS FUCK on here. Is it because it’s an anonymous forum so you think you can speak to people like shit or something?

OP is an adult which means over the age of 18. She could be 25 or 55, who knows. It’s not unheard of for people to get pets that their parent’s haven’t said okay too or parents that have verbally said they don’t want a pet in the house. So many parents have gone on to love the pet, you would never know that they didn’t want it…..

I don’t know why people are acting like OP asked ‘how to murder a pet because my mum doesn’t want it’ or something drastic like that. It’s similar to getting a tattoo or piercing that you know your parent, and asking how you should break it to them. It’s really that simple.

And what’s wrong with TTC whilst you still live at home? No one knows the OP’s plans or relationship set up. So many of you are judgemental as fuck when someone decides to do something differently to the way you do it. So weird

SoupDragon · 15/11/2022 12:50

it's nothing like that 😂 a tattoo/piercing affects no one but the person who has it.

CarrieOnStop · 15/11/2022 12:54

Yeah, it's nothing like getting a tattoo or a piercing.

ForgetBarbie · 15/11/2022 13:44

It’s not similar in the sense that a tattoo/piercing is only on one person’s body but it’s similar in the sense that someone may ask advice on how to tell a parent they’ve done something their parent wouldn’t approve of.

It’s not really rocket science and it’s interesting that both responses have only commented on the tattoo/piercing comparison. People on the thread are literally acting as if the OP has broken the law or something

ladydimitrescu · 15/11/2022 13:49

@amummyy I'm definitely not miserable -
Just very clear it's not an ideal situation when you aren't sure of your living situation. It's all a bit chaotic, but you do you

ladydimitrescu · 15/11/2022 13:58

I realise my first response came across nasty and I genuinely apologise - but honestly if my friend came for coffee and told me the same things, I'd say it's a disaster waiting to happen. I'd wait until you know your living situation is the main thing as you said "hopefully" getting the flat. My landlord took mine back when my newborn was 3 weeks old and it was honestly so stressful, that with trying to train a puppy will be such hard work.
Again, huge apologies for the short and snappy first reply - I should have gone into detail rather than sounding so judgey, I promise I'm not horrible!
Good luck with everything Flowers

I love you OP!

amummyy · 14/03/2023 22:15

Haha my message was removed. The flat had a lot of issues that were not as described so didn't go through with it so waiting for somewhere better... no rush. I am also pregnant and due in September 😊
