Am waiting for a call back from mine

Any idea what this could be? Got her today she's 4 months have just noticed she feels quite "hard" or bloated?

Is it from food?

@pinkgin1

Owner said she was wormed and jabbed 5 week ago
As the first jabs are supposed to be at 9 weeks and the second set at 3 months, that would make her slightly over 4 months even if she got them done at the very earliest opportunity - which would make it about Christmas Day for the first vaccination.

Second jab five weeks ago, around January 22

Count back another 4 weeks for the first course - is she absolutely sure about that? She got her vaccinated Christmas Eve/Day?

I think that she is either older and thinner because she's been growing kitten(s) or she hasn't been vaccinated - or both. I wouldn't be surprised if she's a thin 5.5 to 6 month old as she's clearly not a baby, she's a young cat.

Whatever is the case with her, you'll be taking her to the vet, which will give the best chances for her and any kittens involved.

Feline pregnancy is about 63 days (around 9 weeks), give or take. If she's nearer six months, that's the perfect timescale for it all to be happening.

I think a call to the vet to explain you think she might be pregnant on Monday should get you seen quickly. It doesn't really look like she's just a bit porky (she's so thin otherwise) or has a bit of wind from changing her food - to me, at any rate.

She does look lovely - does she have a name yet?

Jezebel

@NeverDropYourMooncup thank you for your input x
I assume vets will also tell me what her age is?
And if she was pregnant and older would she be better to deal with this? Physically?
And my daughter wanted to call her pepper! But that name is quite nice that you've hinted 😂

She's not big size if she is older than 4 months

Can lack of vaccines cause that?x

I can't feel anything moving when I place my hand there

For the size would it be obvious and they would be moving? So you'd feel something?

My cat had similar very swollen stomach when he was young. It was after eating he would really bloat up, he was a slim young cat at the time and a big eater, so very noticeable. He now only eats good quality biscuits and it doesn’t happen.
I’d definitely get it checked out if it’s the same in the morning just to be sure.

Whattochoosenow · 26/02/2022 21:55

Check her teeth- if she’s 4 months she’ll have baby ones, if 6+ months she’ll have a full set of adult teeth.
It sounds really dodgy to be honest. If she was fully vaccinated you would have got a vaccine certificate, plus you should have been given a note of the microchip number

pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 21:56

They said to bring her in Monday morning! So not long at all

This is her now laying down x

Even if she's say, 6 months rather than 4, she's still so young to have kittens. Doesn't necessarily mean they're going to kill her, but not good.

Lack of vaccines won't cause small size, but malnourishment (including from worms!) can. Frankly, considering she's a PetsAtHome kitten (why? look for a breeder next time, if there are no suitable cats at rescues!) and you can't get proof of vaccination/worming, I'd start over.

Just because you can't see a worm in the poo, it doesn't mean it isn't there. There aren't worms in every poo, or they can be too small to be seen.

BurgerKingAddict · 26/02/2022 22:01

Have you changed her food from what the breeders gave her?

pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 22:12

@InTropicalTrumpsLand she is from a breeder
Pets4homes

Fuzzyduckduckyfuzz · 26/02/2022 22:12

My kitten was absolutely riddled with worms when I got her and her belly looks
Similar. They can get them from their mums milk unfortunately

pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 22:14

@InTropicalTrumpsLand Monday I'll hopefully have all the answers. I hope it is worms. I can't feel any movement as I say

And she's on whiskas kitten , only had a pouch , so even a change of food I doubt would cause this? Or would it?
I've changed foods before and my other cats were completely fine

Undecicive · 26/02/2022 22:20

I'm sorry but being 'half Maine Coon' she's not from a breeder. I'd be surprised if she was vaccinated and chipped at all. No decent breeder drops off a cat without meeting you first. (I wouldn't and I advertise on pets4homes).
Please don't send any more money to this person, she should have taken full payment and given you the vaccination certificates at least.

pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 22:23

The mums Maincoone
The dad isn't
I'm not saying she's a professional breeder
But she's purposely bred to make kittens to sell

She has my address

Her nipples seem fine not how pregnant cats look? So hopefully is just worms

OP posts:
pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 22:24

Seem normal to me

OP posts:
Whattochoosenow · 26/02/2022 23:44

If it turns out to be worms it’s still pretty dodgy, any half decent breeder would have an effective regime in place to minimise transmission from mum to kittens, and the kittens themselves should have been wormed.
Please tell me you didn’t pay a lot of money for her. 😬

pinkgin1 · 26/02/2022 23:57

@Whattochoosenow

No It wasn't a lot x

youvegottenminuteslynn · 27/02/2022 00:26

Didn't you think that it might be a really irresponsible person who would sell you a kitten without a home visit? 😞

Poor little thing I hope she is ok and the vets can help on Monday. She's gorgeous.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 27/02/2022 08:32

I suspect it's worms rather than pregnancy looking at her nipples but you never know.

TokyoSushi · 27/02/2022 11:17

Just checking in to say that I hope she's ok OP!

pinkgin1 · 27/02/2022 12:50

@TokyoSushi
She's really well! Other than the shape lol

Even more happier today, playing, like any other cat would.
Will be checked tomorrow! Am starting to think it's just worms!

@pinkgin1

Ahhh what a mess this is

Never had any issues before with Pets4homes kittens
It's a shame people do this (IF she is pregnant)

How many have you had off advertisements on there?

There are unscrupulous breeders all over tbh. Sad, they only think of the money not the animals.

I hope she will be ok.

pinkgin1 · 27/02/2022 14:15

3 including her
No issues

Just potentially an issue with this one just not sure what yet!

OP posts:
yourestandingonmyneck · 27/02/2022 15:51

Fingers crossed for your little one, OP.

Although if she is pregnant, surely the breeder would have kept her? Sold the kittens for even more money?

So I suspect she isn't pregnant, but I do also suspect she hasn't been well treated / has all her jags etc. Hopefully she will be fine, and you will find out on Monday XxX

pinkgin1 · 27/02/2022 18:34

I'll re do her jabs etc anyway regardless what she shows me

Get her wormed and flead!
As long as she isn't pregnant!
I am starting to think she isn't but confirmation will tell me x
