ChopinRocks · 02/01/2007 22:36

I hereby offficialy open The Labrador Club - because they deserve it!

Has anyone else got a soppy lab?

Ours is 16months old, black. At night he sleeps in his bed next to ours with his tongue slightly out and snores!

His fave food - socks!

Hurrah

I'd like to join with my dog Rocky please. He's 4 on 20th June 2007, black and very soppy.

Fave food - tripe

MamaG · 02/01/2007 22:41

Rocky

ChopinRocks · 02/01/2007 22:42

tripe - yikes! Does he have one of those "Kong" toys? We pushed a sausage roll into it a few days ago and he is still trying to "suck" it out! raghgghghg

MamaG · 03/01/2007 10:27

set up an account with www.picturetrail.com (free and dead easy)

Then just upload your photo from a pic stored on your PC, when its done that, click on "image URLs" and click on "direct image link" box, copy and paste onto this thread

Yay!! The Labby Club! Fantastic idea, ChopinRocks! Why didn't I think of it! Thanks for the info, MamaG on how to get a picture on here, I will get DH to do it for me, I'm such a shameless technophobe, I couldn't do it even following the instructions!! Anyway, back to the Lab Club. Mine is called Bella, she's black, looks like a female version of your Rocky, she'll be 4 on 10th March. She is obsessed with food and with me for some reason, the latest thing is really staring at me intensely all the time and following me everywhere. She's very flatulent, and doesn't care. Very excitable, we also own a Goldie a year younger, and people often assume that he's the 'sensible older one'! She adores water and fortunately we live near the sea and near a lovely river. She loves her ball. Fave food? ANYTHING!!

mrspink27 · 03/01/2007 13:31

Please may I join to ?? my boy is 6 months old tomorrow and is gorgeous!

Archie

sameshitdifferentyear · 03/01/2007 13:41

He is gorgeous, MrsPink27. Can I have him I love the choccy ones. When we got our Golden Retriever, the breeder also had chocolate labs, and we saw those too and played with them for a while. We were really torn, but I'd had my heart set on a Goldie so a Goldie it was.

mrspink27 · 03/01/2007 13:42

I bought him for my DH but he has ended up being my dog. Atleast until the hard work training and everything else is going on !

MamaG · 03/01/2007 13:44

oh he's lovely mrs p!

Rocky loves water too - show him a pond/river/lake/sea and he's straight in! When he was a puppy, on his first every BIG outing (i.e. not our local park!) he fell in a fast flowing river

DH was running down the bank trying to get him, poor dog was being swept away, I was panicking and pregnant, DD (then 4) was panicking and crying - it was awful! Luckily, just as DH was about to jump in(!) he managed to grab his collar. Phew!

So glad it didn't put him off water, I love to see him swim and enjoy himself so much.

mrspink27 · 03/01/2007 13:53

Archie loves water to, he does a very elegant belly flop splat thing to get in and then will just swim and swim and swim. Mostly under the water a bit like a demented otter/duck diving!

sameshitdifferentyear · 03/01/2007 14:02

Our Bella once got caught in a bit of a current in the river. We were all flapping, before any of us thought to jump in - which would have been our next move - a young man jumped in and hauled her out!

ChopinRocks · 03/01/2007 16:12

whats your lab like on the lead? Ours is awful - we use one of those nose harnesses otherwise he would just pull me over! his name is Johnny by the way! I forgot to mention his name in orginal message!

Mamag - thanks for instructions on how to load picture on, will have a go this afternoon.

Just popped in to say that I am so jealous - all your labs are fab - I SO want one - but need lifestyle change first !!! Am planning it for this year - so maybe I'll have one soon !

ZacharyZoo · 03/01/2007 16:31

Ooh this is fantastic, we have two black labs, Alfie is 3 and Macy is 2, they are just adorable, but very different characters. Macy will not walk on the lead without pulling you over, even with a harness, she has limitless energy and can run for ever. Alfie is a real gently giant and never really strains himself, just potters everywhere. The will eat anything, Alfie can sniff out chocolate at 100 paces. They are hard work and a real tie, but can't imagine life without them!

oh no! hasnt come through, sorry. Will try again

sameshitdifferentyear · 03/01/2007 16:51

Our Lab does pull, ChopinRocks. She's a bit better than she used to be. Bella sounds like your Macy, ZacharyZoo, with the limitless energy, and my Alfie (Golden Retriever) sounds like your Alfie! Slower pace, a bit of a plodder - but Bella would be more likely to sniff out the chocolate!!

2labs · 03/01/2007 17:47

Are a couple of lab crosses (crossed with golden retriever) allowed? Mine are 3 and 4 years old.

The slavering beasts

shortcake · 03/01/2007 17:54

We are smitten with our lab - Mango - she's 3 and we are hoping to have one litter of puppies this spring. we have found a gorgeous boyfriend!!!!

SilverBells · 03/01/2007 18:12

ooooohhhhh! i am so excited about this topic! we are due to get a chocolate lab at the start of feb and am so excited i can hardly wait! my dcs are quite cool about it, but not me!
will watch this thread with great interest, have already been scouring "labrador forums" website today, and most of the last wk since we decided to get a pup!
sorry, getting carried away with glee!

MummyPenguin · 03/01/2007 18:55

Don't worry, Silverbells, I'm very excited too about the thread! 2Labs, they're gorgeous, nice to finally see your dogs (you've probably seen me under different names, more recently sameshitdifferentyear.) Where do you live? Looks lovely there, we're near beaches too, they love it, don't they?

MummyPenguin · 03/01/2007 20:37

Here are my two, Bella (black lab) and Alfie (goldie)
