THE LABRADOR CLUB

ChopinRocks · 02/01/2007 22:36

I hereby offficialy open The Labrador Club - because they deserve it!

Has anyone else got a soppy lab?

Ours is 16months old, black. At night he sleeps in his bed next to ours with his tongue slightly out and snores!

His fave food - socks!

Please can I adopt your dogs? They're all so lovely. And I live in a flat with no garden.

2labs · 03/01/2007 21:45

They look wonderful MP!

Sadly we do not live by the beach - that photo was taken on hols in Pembrokeshire. We are in Kent - mostly woodland walks near us and lots of streams for swimming (the dogs not me!).

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 03/01/2007 21:47

oooh can I join too?

I have a lab and a lab x retriever. Bonnie is a yellow lab who will be 12 in February, she was my first guide dog so changed my life, she's retired now but we kept her. She's very gentle, never barks, and she's my baby.

Tizzy is a golden lab retriever cross and he was two in July and he's my current guide dog. He's a bit of a nut and occasionally runs round the living room barking, he's a good guide dog though. About two months after we got him he did eat an entire loaf of french bread - serves me right for leaving it in reach, and Bonnie ate an entire packet of strawbery creams once - anyone who tells you that guide dogs are always impeckibly behaved has no idea

I would do pictures but for obvious reasons I appear not to be that much of a dab hand with a camera

My two were trained as guide dogs Wannabe - one has an eye problem (ironic, eh?) and the other has 'concentration issues'

It's lovely to hear you were able to keep your old guide dog.

oops double posting!

Meant to say that they failed because of these problems so we adopted them from Guide Dogs.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 03/01/2007 22:11

ve ironic about the eye problems 2labs, it always makes me laugh when someone says to their child ... "that lady can't see, so that dog is a blind dog", I can never resist the urge to say "I hope it isn't a blind dog, caus if it is I've got serious problems".

Thecharmed1 · 03/01/2007 22:16

We had a female lab named her Bailey, but sadly had to give her away, as she was to much work for me, and dh worked shifts so i was unable to take her out as much as she deserved, we gave her up in October to a labrador resque home in Kent, and i still miss her very much

here is the last picture i took of her

MummyPenguin · 03/01/2007 22:17

Asked DH to do the link with my pictures, but it wouldn't work

MummyPenguin · 03/01/2007 22:21

She's lovely, charmed1. Shame you couldn't keep her, I hope she found a nice home. Labs do need lots of exercise though, don't they? I've found chocolate ones to be the most energetic, and probably the most work out of the three colours, black ones to be most inclined to jump up, like my one, and yellows? The most 'normal'?

CantWaitForTheSnow · 04/01/2007 01:57

Awwww, Archie is lovely - such long legs!

CantWaitForTheSnow · 04/01/2007 02:01

Got carried away and forgot to mention my deefas. We have Guinness (the long legged, long eared, daughter), and Penny (the short wheel base, short eared, mother)

Thank you so much!!

MummyPenguin · 04/01/2007 13:03

D'ya know what's weird? Looking at the photo of Alfie - my Golden Retriever, that photo is about 2 years old now, and he's got a black nose. As he's got older, it's gone pink, and looks more kind of fleshy.

MamaG · 04/01/2007 13:28

oh my God, my DH calls our dog cocknose too! How very bizarre
