My cat has been poisoned

Devastated is an understatement. Charlie began to look dizzy yesterday, I then found him barely conscious, took him to the emergency vets where they concluded he's been poisoned with anti-freeze.

My poor baby is fighting for his life, vet has given him vodka (?!) intravenously but I am feeling horribly miserable after doing some research and learning they often don't recover. He is only 2 and usually healthy. Seeing the vet at 7.30 to find the results of his bloods now they have done everything they can - this will then prompt either further treatment or euthanasia.

I went to warn my neighbours, who informed me their FOUR cats were killed the exact same way, and never told us?!?!? Have informed RSPCA and police. I am really struggling to deal with the fact this is most likely a deliberate poisoning.

Charlie was showing early signs of renal and kidney failure yesterday but has made it through the night and these bloods will tell us if the treatment has helped. Feeling very very sad right now.

I guess I am just posting in the hope that someone knows of a cat who has survived this :( Please keep your fingers crossed for my precious Charlie :(

Someone my sil knows has a father who drowned a cat in a water butt for taking fish out of his pond.

People can be evil to cats, I hate it that people would go out of their way to harm something that I love so much.

The makers of anti freeze are culpable too though, humans can be poisened with it too iirc, I signed that petition ages ago.

It's makes my blood boil when people are so evil to cats, it's seems common to slate them and call them god knows what! Drives me mad I wouldn't dream of slating a dog lovers pet! Still praying for Charlie and signed the petition!

I'm not being mean but had a slight chuckle about the hangover, just the mental image of what my own cat would look like with one after a night on the town with a naughty tom!

I know bless him the hangover was a funny concept. I have spent hours googling kidney transplants, this would probably "fix" charlie but even though it is legal in UK no vets do it :(:( WISH I could afford to go to america and get it done. Vet today said prognosis is "grave" and will prob be putting him to sleep tomorrow. He is so alert! He was purring when we stroked him before and trying to get closer to us, his eyes light up when he hears our voices, it is SO hard to give up on that :(

Scooby, I only just saw this. I am so sorry it is awful. Praying for a miracle Charlie that he will pull through, he sounds like a tough little guy. I have signed your petition and think that how you are dealing with this in amazing.

Our other cat has had to get used to going out on a lead everyday... surprisingly he has taken to it.

Thank you ladies, I can't stop crying just feel like each hour is an hour closer to my baby's death :( They can try one last thing called a "lavage", vet has said he highly doubts it will help but we will try nevertheless. The vet has been texting constantly, he sent one "sorry that we seem to be losing the battle" :(:(

scooby so sorry to hear is this because of the internal damage? Make sure you notify all the neighbours and the local paper, how someone can do this is beyond me, I gather cats pooping on a persons lawn is annoying but they are still somewhat feral and will go where they want. Makes me want to keep my cat indoors!

Charlie has had to be put to sleep, he took a turn for the worst. Thank you every one. I want to kill the fucker who has done this.
