Fighting Gender Ideology in the WI

WomensInstituteDeclaration · 29/03/2023 19:31

People on this thread are well aware of the ideological capture of the Women's Institute by the trans lobby. We are fighting back and need your help!

Please can you sign the petition to demand a moratorium on trans women joining the WI, to have a debate about this direction, and a vote.

The request has been formally turned down by the Board of Trustees of the National Federation of Women's Institutes, after a formal submission in February this year.

There is a question to ask whether or not you are a member so we can disaggregate the results.

DM us if you want to get further involved, especially if you are a WI member who disagrees with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy 2021 and share as widely as you can too.

Thank you for your help.

Sarah

Bump

wheresmymojo · 29/03/2023 19:57

I'm gender critical and understand much of the issue around transwomen in sport, female prisons, winning women category awards, etc.

But why does it matter if trans women partake in flower arranging and jam competitions?

I can't see any safeguarding issue or impact on women's rights in any meaningful way?

DPotter · 29/03/2023 20:00

Happy to sign but the app won't let me without a $25 donation - won't accept the drop down $0 option. Sorry haven't signed

midgemadgemodge · 29/03/2023 20:03

Why accept trans women and not men in that case mojo?

I think that could be classed as sex discrimination and am surprised it not illegal

Hepwo · 29/03/2023 20:03

You have to agree that men can be women if you want to arrange flowers mojo.

WomensInstituteDeclaration · 29/03/2023 20:04

Because the WI is also meant to be a campaigning organisation and can't campaign on things such as single sex hospital wards, which it has done in the past.

It also likes to hold itself up as end violence against women campaigner, but now the policy enacted means it can't stand up against men in female spaces. It's not about the WI per se, but what it says about the WI as an organisation that is meant to be women led and campaign on issues that affect women, as well as wider society.

Why does it matter if any man partakes in jam making and flower arranging, Mojo? Should my husband and sons be able to
join the WOMENS INSTITUTE?

Wonderingiforifnot · 29/03/2023 20:06

I don't get how you could enforce this though?

No, I think it records it once you click sign and then takes you through to a contribution screen - thanks.

It’s not allowing me to hide my name from the petition so won’t sign, sorry.

If that changes then I’ll sign, absolutely. It’s getting ridiculous now. If men want something similar they can set up the Men’s Institute and the trans-whatever can set up the Trans Institute. Fed up to the back teeth of women bowing down to men.

WomensInstituteDeclaration · 29/03/2023 20:11

In the same way that the WI have said "no" to men since they were founded. That has always been really quite simple.

WomensInstituteDeclaration · 29/03/2023 20:13

@wheresmymojo - yes I understand where you're coming from, that was our original viewpoint but...

Thanks (posted twice as I didn't realise how to tag first!)

Signed.

If anyone is wondering, there is no need to donate any money.

Your vote gets recorded, and after that a voluntary donation screen appears which you can just close.

@SirChenjins I think there's tick box, it does allow you to be anonymous - thanks

But saying no to trans woman is different. How will you check/confirm gender? Especially trans woman who have legally transitioned.

Clymene · 29/03/2023 20:31

It is perfectly legal to exclude men - even if they one of the very small number who have a GRC - from women only organisations as a proportionate means to achieve a legitimate aim.

Women only spaces are different from mixed sex spaces and there are plenty of issues which only affect women.

WomensInstituteDeclaration · 29/03/2023 20:33

@Wonderingiforifnot trans women with a GRC would fall under the Equality Act 2010, so have legally changed sex and would be allowed to join. But the policy doesn't say that, it says anyone who identifies as a woman can join.

The submission also did not want to remove anyone from the WI, but to stop new trans members, and have a debate and a vote on the matter.
The submission is more in depth , it's quite long.

Moratorium Request

The below letter was submitted to the Board of Trustees of the NFWI on 7 February 2023, requesting a moratorium on trans women joining Women’s Institutes and an expansive debate on the matter…

I don't know much about it, do you need to register and show ID? Is it legal to exclude trans women? Will you know from their ID if they've got a GRC? Would it work practically?

Unfortunately the tick box doesn’t allow me to untick - I’m on my phone atm but will try again in the morning on my laptop

Clymene · 29/03/2023 20:45

Can we please stop pretending there are a load of men who are indistinguishable from women? There aren't.

Here's the wi transwoman cover star and wife. I bet you can tell at a quick glance which is male.

Because the WI is for women. Not men.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 29/03/2023 20:48

It is always asked how will you enforce it whenever there is a request for female only. Honesty is what is expected. If I requested a female HCP I would not expect to get a male no matter how they identify
Are people saying that TW are, or are not expected to be, honest? 🤔

Give over. 99.99999% of the time it's blindingly obvious within 10 seconds.
