This petition is to update the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic “sex “ is biological.

^" Under the Equality Act 2010, providers are already able to
restrict the use of spaces/services on the basis of sex
and/or gender reassignment where justified. Further
clarification is not necessary.^
This is not true.
For a start, in practice, all over the country, single sex provision has been lost due to unclear understanding on the part of providers.
Furthermore, Lady Haldane’s judgement in Scotland before Christmas was that “sex “ does not mean just biological sex.
And even this sentence in their response so far,
“able to restrict the use of space/services on the basis of sex and/or gender reassignment where necessary“
is confusing:
Is the basis sex, or is it gender reassignment?
At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate
in Parliament.
