Apologies if this is a breach of etiquette, but could I ask that you take one minute to read the terrible plight of the Ashoori family on the petitions thread and sign/ share their petition. You may have heard about their story through the BBC or Channel 4 yesterday.

Signed and forwarded. Very scary times for Iranian Brits. My husband is half Iranian and they are worried about visiting.

I’m so sorry that this poor family is going through this. As someone who just about remembers internment in NI, I’m only too aware how people can be used as political pawns. I hope this poor man is returned to his family soon.

Posted back to say what a wonderful neighbour you must be, qwert1, 'walking the walk' and not just paying lip service which many would do. Star

Sunshine, I'd never thought about this at all. It really does bring it home that people can be so disadvantaged and in peril of their actual lives, purely by dint of birth. Shock

qwert1 · 28/09/2019 13:37

Sunshine: yes, can understand as they don't recognise dual nationals and Anoosheh had always previously travelled back and forth to Iran without a problem. Think the regime are desperate for £££ and have decided to use innocent folk as pawns to that end. Could you consider sharing the petition with others in the Iranian community. No need to respond here to my cheeky ask. Obvs, completely private matter for you whether you do so. Thanks again. Flowers
