Although I must admit I nearly stumbled at the first question and clicked on metaphor first.

Emkana, it is a well known fact that foreigners write better English than the natives. Tis normal, only foreigners learn English grammar.

17 - Hmmm
question.. where does the hyphen go?

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 14:56

20!

(But I am a writer, I'd have been a bit if I'd buggered it up!)

I am ashamed. Of course I know how to spell questionnaire, fgs. What's wrong with me?

I also think the 'Julia' sentence could benefit hugely from an exclamation mark.

I'm staying. I don't belong anywhere else.

Please

Fell at the hyphen too - exclamation mark was also correct, though

Brangelina - if you clicked on metaphor first then surely you got that question wrong?

And no-one has explained why a hyphen yet?

Brangelina · 03/07/2008 15:08

No, because I spotted the mistake before clicking on "next"

theinsider · 03/07/2008 15:10

Ahh, you merely "hovered over it"? That's alright then. Well done

GColdtimer · 03/07/2008 15:13

I think it is probably suggesting we say long-lost, joining two unconnected words to make a new meaning.

WendyWeber · 03/07/2008 15:15

The hyphen is needed because otherwise the 2 adjectives concerned would be applied separately, & give a totally different impression

WendyWeber · 03/07/2008 15:15

Oh twofalls, you have given it away!!!

Now anybody getting 20 will feel cheated because we will think they did

GColdtimer · 03/07/2008 15:17

oops, sorry. Just trying to be -smug- helpful

GColdtimer · 03/07/2008 15:18

Oh the irony, I have now been floored by a hyphen. Of course that should have been smug

19 - inspite of the fact that they had all of the words I can't spell in there (well, clearly not all, I am not a spelling genius, but the ones which I most frequently leave to Word to auto-correct )

taipo · 03/07/2008 15:34

Wow, I got 20.

First time I've been in here. I will be back

PootyApplewater · 03/07/2008 15:34

20 - but only because this thread had warned me about the hyphen question.
