18 - coat on. Shutting door quietly.... that I can't yet join the club

LyraSilvertongue · 03/07/2008 10:38

I got the first two wrong but the other were all really easy so I can still call myself a pedant.

Bink · 03/07/2008 10:40

To CD - if you did the test thinking to yourself "CLOSEST meaning of options, you mean CLOSEST meaning of options, you don't mean synonym you fool", then I'm right with you.

VintageGardenia · 03/07/2008 10:40

Agree with CD and also I would disagree most pedantically re. "buzzed". It's onomatopeic but it is not onomatopeia, surely? Or am I getting carried away with my 20/20...

bratnav · 03/07/2008 10:40

19 here.

I agree CD, not exactly the same meaning I thought.

witchandchips · 03/07/2008 10:43

20 (preen) but was a bit unsure about the hyphen and ostentatious does not mean the same as prententious

TheProvincialLady · 03/07/2008 10:48

I agree CD. And WHERE ARE THE FULL STOPS AT THE END OF THE SENTENCES?

Yours sincerely,
TPL (Score 20)

bandgeek · 03/07/2008 10:51

I got 19

I didn't know the meaning of avarice

cluttercup · 03/07/2008 10:52

A smug 20 here which may make up for the completely hopeless housewife I am!!!!

filthymindedvixen · 03/07/2008 11:13

20/20 here too! (Thank heavens!)

Watch my score plummet next week when they do maths.....

(Pedantically agree about ostentatious)

SoupKitchen · 03/07/2008 11:39

I am very , and a grammar school girl too!

schneebly · 03/07/2008 11:44

Ooh 19 and I am not even a pedant

Probabaly just as well as I am embarking on teacher training in September!

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/07/2008 11:50

19 - another one who got mixed up between a simile and a metaphor.

Damn that bloody hyphen

LazyLinePainterJane · 03/07/2008 12:22
  1. Sod Jane and her bloody house.

Apostrophes before and after the S always get me.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/07/2008 12:35

I got 18. I don't want to admit it but I did. I could have sworn "taciturn" meant something different! And it was another definition question I got wrong too..

But I'm not leaving! Gonna throw me out.. eh eh?

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/07/2008 12:36

Bet most of the 20s are lying

llareggub · 03/07/2008 12:40

Hurrah!

20 here too.
