...but over on Facebook someone has repeatedly used 'cart' instead of 'can't'. Not just the once, which I could overlook, but continuously.

I may have to delete Facebook. And then burn my laptop.

One of my FB faves was 'powerphrase', as in, 'Tonys post gives a much better powerphrase of the info than mine.'

I've noticed a few interesting house ads on Facebook. They all seem to be in a sort after area and have an on sweet.

I saw "dose" and "dosent" on here the other day.

It's mind-blowing, really - this is Year 1 stuff.

I see that a lot, unfortunately.

I did spot “lone behold” on here tonight…that’s a new one I believe!

I saw that too! wince

It's as if society has disguarded all notions of proper spelling and grammar. (Sorry, couldn't help myself. 😄)

I'm currently needing to use the voice to message thing on my iPhone, it does write some absolute nonsense and I don't always catch it!!

Yesterday I was typing to a good friend fortunately it was a good friend and not someone I barely know or MN and I typed

'mind you'

And I hadn't noticed it changing it to 'my Jew'

Fortunately, we have been friends since I was born and she knows it's not the sort of thing I'd say!!

Is it possible that some sort of predictive text could have made a cart after someone typed in the c and the a?

I'm trying to work out who the Forcibles are.

Foreseeable?

sashh · 10/03/2025 12:06

Don't go on Nextdoor, so many people saying parents should do X Y or Z with 'there kids'.

Ring doorbell footage with, "any1 no these".

ruethewhirl · 10/03/2025 18:03

If they disagree with someone do they say 'Your wrong', perchance? That one really grinds my gears...

Someone emailed me with a long story about how a mutual friend was annoying her. She did admit the mutual friend is really not that bad, by saying "but give her a jew.........". This was in the days before voice to text so she must have actually typed it in! I didn't say anything to her but it did make me laugh!

Something I see very regularly on a local Facebook group is using ‘they’ instead of ‘there’ e.g. ‘avoid Main St junction they’s been an accident’. Also ‘as anyone ad’ or ‘ave you ad’ 😭

Ugh, friend of mine is always using 'av', 'ad', 'wot', 'u' etc in texts. He's 57 and very intelligent, but you wouldn't know it from his texts. Drives me mad.

Broop · 10/03/2025 20:29

Yorkshire! Competitive stupidity on some of these Facebook groups!

Yes. And random apostrophes in plurals.

ThatDoesntWorkForMe · 11/03/2025 06:02

N instead of and. There are a lot of ‘skiddish’ lost animals too.

Irrelevant I know but was just reading your "grinds my gears" as my bff (and self-confessed petrolhead) forced her ancient Morris 1000 into reverse.
Ow!
(I know the problem only too well.)

Sorry - now back to your regularly scheduled programme.

lalafox · 11/03/2025 12:35

I absolutely cannot stand people using brought and bought incorrectly. I'm seeing it so much recently. Why?????

Not sure, but glad you bought it up

I have just had a Facebook notification. It included, "we all was av a laugh"

PinkoPonko · 12/03/2025 04:42

Some of my “bare bugs”:
Using borrow and lend interchangeably. E.g., “DS borrowed his friend a game”. And, believe it or not, I recently saw leaned as a past tense for lend.
A newsreader on a renowned overseas channel using incidences for incidents.
Keep hearing/reading casted for cast in X role.
”Infidel” being used to mean adulterous person. This took me a while to work out as the term was being bandied about on a Bollywood gossip site.
”Revert back” to mean respond (also entrenched in Indian English).
And, proofing pudding.
Shriek!

I have mental health so I don't spend too much time on Facebook.

Highlighta · 12/03/2025 05:06

Walla

This week someone was selling pj's and sleepers.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/03/2025 16:09

I’ve just spotted a rather charming mention of a boyfriend being ‘possibly immaculated by your success’.
