I have a few ideas for a walkng down the aisle song/piece of music but i don't want to make a twat of myself by picking something really daft! (and secretly want to steal ideas for other parts of the ceremony!!)

What did you walk down the aisle to in your non-religious wedding?

A piper walked up the aisle in front of the wedding party in full highland regalia. Was fab.

Only happened cause the organist didn't turn up but everyone commented it was a brill idea and more unusual than the traditional wedding march.

it is here

I walked down the aisle to Barry White (You're the First, my last, my everything). Very last minute decision while sitting in the registry office waiting room. Very corny but suited the mood!

Civil wedding here - we had Woodbrook by Micheal O'Suilleabhain playing as we came in and walked out to 'Songs of Love' by The Divine Comedy.

Civil ceremony, walked down the aisle to the instrumental in Drive by by Duran Duran, signed the registers to Wild Horses by the Rolling stones and left to A warm place by nine inch nails!

MouseMate · 06/10/2008 20:25

Civil Ceremony - Down the aisle to Stronger than Steel by the Dan Reed Network and back out to Beautiful Day by U2

I have no idea, I don't remember even considering it. I do remember chosing some hymns, but I don't remember what they were now. Is this lack of romantic feeling or old age setting in?

callmeovercautious · 06/10/2008 20:34

Hi MOM - very exciting you are at the music stage

We are off on our delayed honeymoon later this week and I can't wait

You might remember we had a civil ceremony in August. Walked in to a wierd piece DH picked called march into trouble

Signing music here but needed a longer song or 2 really Everyone hummed it for ages afterwards!

Walked out to signed sealed delivered by Stevie Wonder.

Kerryk, it was a church wedding but the aisle was short enough that it stopped before the 'How do you solve a problem like Maria' bit starts! The organist played it really well and so many people knew it but couldn't place where from.

One of my friends had it for her wedding a couple of years later too.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 07/10/2008 23:33

I can't remember what I walked down the aisle too- something classical and wedding-y, I seem to recall.

But walked out to Star Wars theme (which sounded surprisingly good on the church organ!)

LemonyAle · 07/10/2008 23:42

Another Queen of Sheba here (well it's the one day you're allowed a bit of bigging up of self, isn't it?)

Exited to 'Wouldn't it be nice' by the Beach Boys - ah, I'd love to do it all again.

pinata · 08/10/2008 21:22

At Last by Etta James

Fantastic opening, real attention grabber and wonderful words for a wedding

At last, my love has come along,
My lonely days are over,
And life is like a song,

Ohhh at last
The stars above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover,
The night I looked at you

I found a dream that I could speak to,
A dream that I, can call my own,
I found a thrill, to press my cheek to,
A thrill that I, have never known,

Ohhh you smile, you smile
And then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven,
for you are mine, at last!
