Didn't notice we'd gotten to the end of the thread!

Brilliant!

Just watch your DH doesn't start wanting to help decorate the cakes all the time now though :)

Not a chance, Blathers. He likes his head attached to his shoulders Smile

Tinkerisdead · 20/05/2013 13:28

Ooh welldone jetstar thats great!!

stealthsquiggle · 20/05/2013 17:32

looks really good, Jetstar (now that I have left-handedly logged on to my PC so that I can see profiles). What was next? Rapunzel?

why don't they do superglue for bones [sulk]? if only I had broken my left foot, I could be having a lovely peaceful week off instead of getting steadily more depressed and frustrated at all the stuff I can't do. I need a party to plan - vicarious internet shopping and stealing ideas I can do. Any takers, or do I have to do DD's which is nearly 5 months away?

Blatherskite · 20/05/2013 19:57

Good job jetstar, it looks amazing

No parties here - we should plan something for ourselves stealth, we can drink with one hand after all Wink

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I wasn't able to do the piping around the top as it wouldn't stick on (maybe too many 100 + 1000's or maybe I took too long and the icing had dried out?)
Next could be some kind of Tinkerbell / fairy cake - DD1 will be 4 in Aug. I need to recover from this one first though!

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:03

Anyone still around? I am now sporting a fetching purple cast, for the next 2 weeks.

Kyrptonite · 22/05/2013 21:25

Can anyone help with ideas for a party for a 3 year old girl please? Loves peppa, Ben and holly etc. so far I have a hall, bouncy castle and picnic lunch on blankets a la the little kingdom.

I'm stumped. She really wants a party. There's about 20 kids coming ages between 2-5.

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:30

You may have to give me a crash course on Ben and Holly.

That said, there must be some sort of age - appropriate craft activity we can come up with. That, bouncy castle, pass the parcel, and tea (could you find some little baskets, maybe?) would be more than enough for 3yos.

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:35

mini baskets for lunch/tea?

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:39

So, looks like you could do fairy or crown related craft.

Kyrptonite · 22/05/2013 21:45

Those baskets look great! I was thinking decorate a crown/elf hat type thing.

How long is best for a pre-school party? Not sure whether to do 1.5 or 2 hours.

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:45

these would work for 3yos, I think

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:47

Including tea, I would go with 2 hours - any spare time, just put music on and let them loose with balloons Smile

Kyrptonite · 22/05/2013 21:54

I like the crowns Grin. Might put out some colouring pages as well for the ones who don't want to run around etc.

Does pass the parcel work with 3 year olds?

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 21:58

Pass the parcel works as long as you are prepared to 'teach' them a bit

Blatherskite · 23/05/2013 09:19

I'd go with the card crowns over the foam ones I think - mainly because they're cheaper. We used the card ones at DD's 3rd and they worked brilliantly. It was by far my most popular activity beside the bouncy castle. We decorated ours with glittery flower stickers and some stick on gems. The gems were from Baker Ross too but the flowers came from Hobbycraft. One tip from me though - take a stapler or tape as the crowns were a bit too big for 3yo heads and needed taking in a bit.

I did crowns and colouring for DD. It sound be fairly easy to find some free to print Ben and Holly colouring sheets and then all you need is a pile of crayons.

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 23/05/2013 09:29

I was wondering that, Blathers. We had the card ones for DD's 3rd as well, but I found them a bit flimsy and was thinking the foam ones might be a bit more resilient for LOs

Blatherskite · 23/05/2013 09:31

DD's is still in her dressing up box 6 months later! Maybe they've changed the stock?

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 23/05/2013 09:44

Could be. It was 3.5 years ago we had them Shock

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2013 15:52

The works have massive bags of foam flowers/shapes/letters at the moment which would be good for decorating crowns.

If you going for ben and holly you most certainly need to make the jelly flood! And these cos we're elves brrrrr
And little wands for all the fairies.

stealthsquiggle · 23/05/2013 18:11

DW - I got distracted by the whole falling over and being laughed at by so called friends thing. Did you ever make it to your magic craft stuff shop to see if they still have bargain aprons?

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2013 21:16

Oh tits no i forgot all about it. Its next to tescos and i need to go in the morning so i'll run in. How many did i need to get again? Sorry stealth, i dont know whats wrong with me im just chasing my own tail at the moment.

Sorry about the cast too Sad not laughing now.

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2013 22:13

Stealth talk to me about carving a cake. Its my friends birthday soon and in the absence of a gift i wanna make her a fox cake. (I take the piss out of her hair colour - canadian fox) but i need to carve it like this

Either that or make a topper which would be easy and i fancy a challenge.
